Dark Red or "Brick" in MiLB

Just wondering if any Minor League Baseball team wears Astros/D-Backs style dark red or "brick" -- of if any team has done so recently. I was just thinking about how I can name a MiLB team that wears (or recently wore) almost every other shade I can think of, except for a few pastels and brick red.

I gotta close down for the night, but I'll put together a list in the morning...

The Greeneville Astros (Appy League) are one I can think of.

OK...I threw together a quick query of my database. Here are the parameters:

  • All minor league baseball teams
  • All colors designated as a Primary Color, or a Secondary Color
  • Current color sets only
  • "Franchise Colors" or alternate uniform colors only. No patches, special logos, etc.

From there, I came up with a list of Pantone values to search against. Here the list:

"187" Or "1805" Or "1807" Or "1815" Or "188" Or "194" Or "1955" Or "201" Or "202" Or "208" Or "209" Or "484" Or "491" Or "5015" Or "505" Or "506"

And, here are the results:

  • Akron Aeros - Eastern League (secondary color only)
  • Altoona Curve - Eastern League
  • Boise Hawks - Northwest League
  • Calgary Vipers - Northern League
  • Coastal Bend Aviators - American Association
  • Evansville Otters - Frontier League
  • Florence Freedom - Frontier League
  • Gary SouthShore RailCats - Northern League
  • Great Lakes Loons - Midwest League
  • Greeneville Astros - Appalachian League
  • Hudson Valley Renegades - New York-Pennsylvania League
  • Idaho Falls Chukars - Pioneer League
  • Kalamazoo Kings - Frontier League
  • Kansas City T-Bones - Northern League
  • Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League
  • Lancaster Barnstormers - Atlantic League
  • Lancaster JetHawks - California League
  • Laredo Broncos - United League Baseball
  • Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League
  • Long Beach Armada - Golden Baseball League
  • Mobile BayBears - Southern League
  • Modesto Nuts - California League
  • Newark Bears - Atlantic League
  • Northwest Arkansas Naturals - Texas League
  • Portland Beavers - Pacific Coast League
  • Reading Phillies - Eastern League
  • Sacramento River Cats - Pacific Coast League
  • Saint Cloud River Bats - Northwoods League
  • San Angelo Colts - United League Baseball
  • Savannah Sand Gnats - South Atlantic League
  • Somerset Patriots - Atlantic League
  • Tri-City ValleyCats - New York-Pennsylvania League
  • Visalia Oaks - California League
  • Waikiki Beach Boys - Hawaii Winter Baseball
  • West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx - Southern League (secondary color only)
  • Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - Midwest League
  • Yakima Bears - Northwest League
  • Yucatan Lions - Mexican League
  • Yuma Scorpions - Golden Baseball League

I think this list is fairly comprehensive...something could have gotten missed, though...

Pantone:

Man oh man, thanks! Boise and Idaho Falls: I knew that, but just couldn't bring them to mind. D'oh! The rest of the list is a bit of a revelation; that's actually a lot of dark red going on. Makes me wonder if dark red has lately been one of those colors that the professional color folks pick as a coming "hot" color, sort of like how around 1994 someone decided that dark pastel green would be the official color of the late '90s, or how the same thing happened around 2002 to make brown and light blue the official colors of the mid '00s.

Anyway, I'm gonna go back to looking up all the teams on that list I'm not familiar list. Thanks again!

Akron Aeros - Eastern League (secondary color only)

Only the flying cat (Orbit) on the logo is brick red, nothing on the jersey. With their movement away from purple we may see them using the brick more in the future, but thats just my 2 cents.
