BallWonk
Just wondering if any Minor League Baseball team wears Astros/D-Backs style dark red or "brick" -- of if any team has done so recently. I was just thinking about how I can name a MiLB team that wears (or recently wore) almost every other shade I can think of, except for a few pastels and brick red. TruColor
OK...I threw together a quick query of my database. Here are the parameters:All minor league baseball teamsAll colors designated as a Primary Color, or a Secondary ColorCurrent color sets only"Franchise Colors" or alternate uniform colors only. No patches, special logos, etc. From there, I came up with a list of Pantone values to search against. Here the list:"187" Or "1805" Or "1807" Or "1815" Or "188" Or "194" Or "1955" Or "201" Or "202" Or "208" Or "209" Or "484" Or "491" Or "5015" Or "505" Or "506"And, here are the results:Akron Aeros - Eastern League (secondary color only)Altoona Curve - Eastern LeagueBoise Hawks - Northwest LeagueCalgary Vipers - Northern LeagueCoastal Bend Aviators - American AssociationEvansville Otters - Frontier LeagueFlorence Freedom - Frontier LeagueGary SouthShore RailCats - Northern LeagueGreat Lakes Loons - Midwest LeagueGreeneville Astros - Appalachian LeagueHudson Valley Renegades - New York-Pennsylvania LeagueIdaho Falls Chukars - Pioneer LeagueKalamazoo Kings - Frontier LeagueKansas City T-Bones - Northern LeagueLakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic LeagueLancaster Barnstormers - Atlantic LeagueLancaster JetHawks - California LeagueLaredo Broncos - United League BaseballLehigh Valley IronPigs - International LeagueLong Beach Armada - Golden Baseball LeagueMobile BayBears - Southern LeagueModesto Nuts - California LeagueNewark Bears - Atlantic LeagueNorthwest Arkansas Naturals - Texas LeaguePortland Beavers - Pacific Coast LeagueReading Phillies - Eastern LeagueSacramento River Cats - Pacific Coast LeagueSaint Cloud River Bats - Northwoods LeagueSan Angelo Colts - United League BaseballSavannah Sand Gnats - South Atlantic LeagueSomerset Patriots - Atlantic LeagueTri-City ValleyCats - New York-Pennsylvania LeagueVisalia Oaks - California LeagueWaikiki Beach Boys - Hawaii Winter BaseballWest Tennessee Diamond Jaxx - Southern League (secondary color only)Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - Midwest LeagueYakima Bears - Northwest LeagueYucatan Lions - Mexican LeagueYuma Scorpions - Golden Baseball LeagueI think this list is fairly comprehensive...something could have gotten missed, though... BBTV
Reading Phillies? Really? "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."
TruColor
Reading Phillies? Really? It's their new throwbacks. However, even though they tried to use the old Philadelphia Phillies' Maroon, they got the Pantone wrong.
SmoothieX
Tri-City ValleyCats - New York-Pennsylvania LeagueI can confirm this. I saw them play the VT Lake Monsters this year. They have Astros inspires unis/colors and actually wear road greys. They have a killer 50's diner style wordmark.
BallWonk
Pantone:Man oh man, thanks! Boise and Idaho Falls: I knew that, but just couldn't bring them to mind. D'oh! The rest of the list is a bit of a revelation; that's actually a lot of dark red going on. Makes me wonder if dark red has lately been one of those colors that the professional color folks pick as a coming "hot" color, sort of like how around 1994 someone decided that dark pastel green would be the official color of the late '90s, or how the same thing happened around 2002 to make brown and light blue the official colors of the mid '00s.Anyway, I'm gonna go back to looking up all the teams on that list I'm not familiar list. Thanks again!
darkshadow1031
Akron Aeros - Eastern League (secondary color only)Only the flying cat (Orbit) on the logo is brick red, nothing on the jersey. With their movement away from purple we may see them using the brick more in the future, but thats just my 2 cents. 2002-2006 ALUMNI 2007-2009
