This guy had it all backward. Apparently he didn't realize that in order to get away with this sort of thing for any amount of time you have to [1] be a pre-teen or early teenage girl in the People's Republic of China, [2] be in gymnastics, not basketball, [3] have the full resources of the Chinese government and gymnastics federation at work to cover up your real age, and [4] try to pass yourself off as older than you really are, not younger.

A West Texas student who led his high school basketball team to the state playoffs last season was actually a 22-year-old man, police said Tuesday.

Police say the basketball star was really Guerdwich Montimere, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Haiti who school officials say was recognized last month by Florida coaches as having been a star high school player in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a few years ago.

His bigger issue is now that he was faking his age, he could be charged with statutory rape (if he was dating a student).

Montimer was arrested after a 16-year-old girl in Odessa told police and school district officials she had sex with him at a home in August when she thought he was 15-year-old Jerry Joseph, said Odessa police Cpl. Sherrie Carruth.

Montimer was originally arrested Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of failure to identify himself to a police officer, and school officials said he admitted that he wasn't Joseph. Thursday, Montimer was released on $7,500 bond about five hours after his arrest on a felony charge of tampering with government documents.

Well, actually he has a sexual assault case against him because he had a relationship with a 15 or 16 year old student at the school. I'll try and find the link.
