Isn't this team only supposed to hang around Arizona for one season before heading for California? Why would the Pads spend more than necessary for a team that will have to change again next season anyway?

No, it's a bit longer than that. The ballpark in Escondido isn't scheduled to open until 2013.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

If it ever opens. It's currently in an indefinite holding pattern pending the outcome of the attempt by the governor of CA Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown to eliminate redevelopment agencies. If he succeeds, which so far he's failed to do, then there will never be an Escondido ballpark and their stay in Tucson will be come permanent. Which is why Chris may want to change the Tuscon Padres logo dates on the main page to indefinite future dates, because for now they're not moving in 2012...

Very nice look; I've contacted the VP of the Tucson Padres and the new jerseys will be for sale April 15. Now if only the big league team would re-adopt this wordmark and go back to the brown/gold....

This wordmark was used by the Padres from 1969 to 1984. Prior to 1978, this type appeared on yearbooks and programs.

Maybe the wordmark, but not the brown and gold. All but the 69 uniforms were abominations of the highest order.
