The San Diego Padres AAA affiliate Tucson Padres unveiled their uniforms yesterday:

Cap with retro Swinging Friar:

Home, Alt, and Road uniform. Note the Alt uni is simply old threads donated by the parent club (not sure if they'll go with the green SD caps as depicted here though):

Are the Padres really this cheap?

How do you mean? If you're referring to the military jersey, there's a long tradition of MLB teams handing uniforms down to the AAA level or below to save both money and to put old uniforms to use. In this case it's only for an occasional use military uniform so I don't see an issue.

Frankly I think it looks better than the swinging friar cap. The T-Pads uniforms are great other than the cap. It should have a big "t" on it. Simple yet effective. Not the big team's secondary logo with Tuscon written on the bat.

RIP Portland Beavers (again)

But I guess it's not a bad touch what they did here.

I doubt they're gonna use those hats.

Overall, I love the uniforms. The colors and the old script look great, and I've always loved the camouflage uniforms.

Love the jersey script...overall everything looks good. I would personally rather see the Toros, but this Padres identity fits.

Those are nicer than the major league Padres' jerseys.

Agreed, even in this incorrect color scheme, the MLB Pads would look infinitely better in their minor league affiliate's uniforms than their own.

Is #55 in the white home jersey drunk or just very sleepy?

Is it really that drab in Tucson? You'd think they could add orange instead of silver to the navy to pep it up a bit. This looks like they didn't have a color printer in house.

Agreed. I did find it a bit ironic, if not just a bit amusing, that the home uniforms will make their debut against the Salt Lake Bees... AKA, the prior Portland Beavers who relocated to SLC in 1994.

Yes, only a Portland sports fan would catch that... And care ;-)

What happened to the Tuscon Toros?

TucsonTorosCapLogo.PNG

Toros are taking 2011 off. This was announced around the time it was released that the Portland Beavers would be moving to Tucson (playing @ TEP).

I guess they did not want to conflict, which is stupid because the Beavers/Padres could play at TEP and the Toros could play at Hi Corbett.

Isn't this team only supposed to hang around Arizona for one season before heading for California? Why would the Pads spend more than necessary for a team that will have to change again next season anyway?
