Actually, if you give us a black and white version, you'll lose all that detail.

Work in black and white first! then add color, highlights, lowlights, etc...

Pretty much what I was going to say. It is not at all a bad logo, but one should always be able to apply the logo to any colored background and have it work. As it sits currently I do not think it would work too well.
