nash61
Found this on Google, but couldn't find any pics of Potvin wearing it.http://www.milehighcardco.com/LotDetail.aspx?lotid=17516 On September 20, 2012 at 0:50 AM, 'CS85 said: It's like watching the hellish undead creakily shuffling their way out of the flames of a liposuction clinic dumpster fire. DelayedPenalty
It's not one I ever recall seeing him wear, but I can't speak to its legitimacy.
molsonck54
I don't recall him wearing that mask either. His rookie year he first wore the helmet and cat?s eye cage combo like Osgood wore. After that I thought he had switched to the first version of his signature mask style with the abstract cat design but I did find him wearing a helmet I had not seen but it's not the one in the auction (http://vadergirl.tripod.com/potv.jpg). His mask was one of the reason's he became my favorite goalie at the time. I thought his mask was the coolest thing as a kid. To me the one in the auction doesn't look like a professionally done mask. I hope it's real for the sake of the winning bidder. $600! Ouch if it's fake. Is it the same? On September 20, 2012 at 0:50 AM, 'CS85 said: It's like watching the hellish undead creakily shuffling their way out of the flames of a liposuction clinic dumpster fire. Is it the same?Yes, that was the picture I was trying to link to.No doubt there is value in the helmet on it's own. Being a goalie has to be one of the most expensive positions to play is youth sports in terms of equipment. I was just commenting on the winning bid theorizing the person thought it was as advertised. Also, why not fork over $500 for a new stock painted mask that looks much better than the "Potvin" mask. Just my two cents. If it is legit that's going to be a rare collectible and worth more than $600. I just don't think it is.Looking more into it that picture must be from 91-92 because that was the last season Toronto wore that style of jersey. He only appeared in 4 games that season and two of his rookie cards have him in different jerseys (home and 75th anniversary third) but the "Osgood" helmet. His 92/93 cards then have him in the early form signature style. Did he wear two different helmets for the other two games he appeared in 91/92? Did he wear it with St. John's?
