A synergistic move that would make Jack Donaghy proud. :)

Puma, who have the big money contract for Arsenal's kit manufacturing beginning next season, are reportedly offering 25 million pounds to aid the transfer of Mario Balotelli, one of Puma's biggest player sponsorships, to the Gunners.

Can this really be a good investment for Puma? Does it help their brand? And has anyone heard of anything like this happening before?

Nope but now with that I can see nike spending big bucks to have Ronaldo transferred back to Man U or, hell maybe even barca, and Adidas paying big money to transfer messi to Chelsea. I could see a lot of crazy transfers happening now.

There have been rumors and suspicions for quite some time now that elite athlete sponsors have heavily influenced or subsidized transfers/free agent moves as the potential for increased success on the playing field or a larger media market will bring more attention to the sponsor which would make the investment pay off. This move definitely feels like that line between commerce and competition is being blurred to new levels now but then again I may not be totally current here.
