2014 AAA All-Star Game

As a reward to my 10 year old daughter for her good grades (yeah... sure... that's the reason), I just bought a pair of tickets to take her to the 2014 AAA All-Star Game (along with the Home Run Derby competition) at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina.

I realize I'm taking a longshot here but I know there are some minor league buffs within the CCSLC crowd, so I'll ask... anyone else going?

I went to the AAA All Star game in Sacramento in 2005. It obviously doesn't compare to the MLB All Star Game (that's part of the fun though), but it's still a great time. I saw (I think) BJ Upton play in that game when he was on the Bulls, actually.

Awesome that your daughter enjoys sporting events as birthday gifts, too! You could just as easily be front row for a JBiebs concert :P

Yeah, that's a little odd, actually. She doesn't really follow baseball as a sport, isn't athletic or even particularly interested in pulling for any specific team as a typical sports fan would, but every time I take her to a game, she gets INTO IT.

These will be the first baseball events I've taken her to since she got glasses - a product of our last trip to a Carolina Mudcats game, at which she cheered and shouted fervently for the home team, then in the middle of the 7th inning asked me, "Which team is the Mudcats?" As we were sitting literally 10 feet from players taking swings in the on-deck circle, I was incredulous at first but ultimately realized the poor kid's vision was poor (20/200). She really enjoyed the Hurricanes hockey game we went to a while back ("I can see the puck!") and we're sitting behind the home dugout for the ASG, so hopefully she'll be able to figure out what's going on a little better. :)
