  1. Leading off with a reference to a Chance The Rapper SNL sketch is probably not a great sign of his genuine enthusiasm for the NHL. Which is fine except that ESPN thinks Stephen A. yelling is what counts as coverage.
  2. Hockey fans wanted that ESPN attention; well, enjoy your Stephen A. takes.
  3. I was hoping McDonough would stick around his part-time gig as Red Sox radio guy. Ah well!
  4. The Fox glow puck was nothing compared to Baby Yoda in his little floaty ship thing following the action around the ice.
  5. So the “Marvel Edition” broadcasts we’re stuck with huh?
  6. Good point! Are the auto auctions going to Peacock? Is auto auction nation as mad about this as American EPL fans are? I just don’t want anyone to miss seeing their ideal 1972 sage green Thunderbird on television.
  7. I don’t even get why it’s played at a faux-pro level. Just play tennis...?
  8. Very busy sports calendar right now but CBS Sports Network has been on a professional pickleball marathon tonight.
  9. that weird TNT Champions League era was so abrupt and bad that I thought any more new sports were way off the table, one reason this NHL move surprised me. Too bad for them that Steve Nash got a real job!
  10. This is a very predictable crossover event, given all the self mythologizing they’ve been doing about Inside the NBA, and I hate it. Speaking of, Candace Parker needs to be on the flagship nights for that show in Shaq’s place next year.
  11. I think NBC has done a pretty good job with their non-NFL sports so it’s too bad they’re losing them all (except shunting EPL to a pay service lol). I hope American Ninja Warrior and auto auctions do well for them instead.
  12. I still don’t understand why some sports are on TBS and some are on TNT. Pick one. Or make CBS Sports Network actually useful.
  13. Seems optimistic even now to be spreading tournaments around. Still shocked Euro is sticking with its pan-Europe idea. The North will be very due for games after all that TX and FL are getting this year.
  14. I like sublimated patterns but just clone-stamping the logo everywhere does not count. Really hate this trend.
  15. Well, it wouldn’t be an international tournament without bad Puma templates for their second tier Europe teams.
  16. The logos at least are pretty nice for a temp brand. I like the simple modern treatment. Navy and turquoise and coral will be this era’s version of 90s teal and purple but that’s fine.
  17. Theyre in placeholder mode for 2021 so I wouldn’t worry much about that one.
  18. Not a super thrilling rebrand but the logo and now the jerseys at least have a solid color scheme and don’t look cheapo. And doing the photo shoots on that one instagrammable block in DUMBO. An overnight shift to actual professionalism for this team. overall really impressed with NWSL’s looks this year. Big evolution from picking the teamwear in the most basic colors like most of the league did even very recently.
  19. Not sure why we’re trying the NJ/NY thing again all these years later. Otherwise an upgrade for the team that needed an rebrand more than anyone else.
  20. They’re really going all the way with this.
  21. The other big thing, it seems to me, is ESPN Plus seemingly replacing the subscription service for streaming out of market games, which I believe is what they also struck with MLS last year. AND a bunch of games available only if you have ESPN+ or Hulu, which seems significant.
  22. I’m glad that the Houston ownership group is trying to unify their mens and women’s teams as closely as the corporate overlords will allow them to. The Thorns have done impressive work to build their own brand, but that does feel like the exception rather than the rule.
