The Argos are wearing special helmets for their 150th anniversary game. The regular logo will be replaced by the 150th "Pull Together" boat.

A couple missed opportunities here: Refs wear black helmets, so that would have been nice to see. Also, blaze orange cuffs on the gloves would have brought home the referee vibe.

Michael Andlauer has been officially announced as the new majority owner (90%) of the Ottawa Senators. Word on the street is that he will bring Steve Staios in as his new GM. If this happens, the Sens will win the Cup within 5 years.

Dear Canucks: Abbotsford has proven that Skating Johnny works as a primary. It's finally time once and for all. Standard whites on the road with Skating Johnny, a V arm stripe on the arms, blue shoulder logos. Blue jerseys at home, with Skating Johnny, a V arm stripe and white shoulder logos. Green jerseys as an alternate with Vachon-Johnny (the V is blue) on a green jersey with normal arm stripes and white shoulder logos. NEVER. CHANGE. AGAIN.

The problem with the unused logo is that it is always going to be compared to the logo it was modelled after. In a vacuum, it is an undoubtedly superior logo. However, unlike a logo set like the Blue Jays, the designer didn't quite eliminate all doubt as to which one is better. It's cleaner, it's centerable, the cape makes sense, and it forms an O for Ottawa. It checks all the boxes except for the nostalgia one.

Typically it's a decorative thing done for playoffs. I know of some lower-level junior teams that have done it as well.
