  1. Apologies if this was already posted, but Rick Mahorn in his second stint with the Pistons from 1996-1998. I can't tell which of the 2 seasons this image is from since I can't quite make out whether or not the NBA logo is the gold "NBA at 50" iteration or the traditional RWB. If I had to take a guess, it's probably from the "NBA at 50" season (1996-97).
  2. Statistically, his best seasons came with the Timberwolves. It was also the team that originally drafted him. He looked pretty good playing in those uniforms too, probably the least awkward set of all of the ones he wore throughout his pro career. But Atlanta might be the 1a of "right teams" for him since he helped guide them to the playoffs (granted, Atlanta had a better team than the Timberwolves prior to KG taking off), won some early playoff rounds, and made his lone all-star appearance. I consider the other four (Detroit, Dallas, Washington, and Miami) to be his wrong teams.
  3. I originally posted this in the "Right Team/Wrong Uniform" thread, but figured it would also apply to this thread as well since it's kind of a rarity: Anyway, I was looking up Muggsy Bogues' career stats on Basketball Reference yesterday and I recall when he was traded to the Warriors 2 games into the 1997-98 season. That's the year the Hornets changed their set to the Bobby Phills/David Wesley era jerseys. Muggsy did play his first 2 games of the season in those Hornets uniforms, but I haven't been able to dig up photos or video just yet. My apologies if this has already been posted. Edit: I looked up his stats for those games and he only played a combined 16 minutes in those uniforms. If he did play during the preseason, it would've been in their previous sets.

  5. That was actually a preseason game from October 1994. I can tell because it was Danny Manning's (far left) first season with the Suns and the Magic wore their black road set in that game (they wore their blue alternates during their regular season matchups in Phoenix). This was a nice matchup in that the Suns and Magic appeared to be on a collision course to the NBA Finals that year, so there were definitely seeds to a potential rivalry. A nice color matchup as well.
  6. There was one picture I saw in a magazine over 20 years ago of the blue/orange Price/Daugherty era blue and orange Cavs jerseys against the green and gold Sonics arch jerseys (it was color on color). My guess is this was a preseason game from 1993 or 1994.
  7. Yeah, I found that pretty odd as well. I do find it funny that they put in the effort to give some of the newer classic teams their proper alternates (Suns' orange, Cavs' blue, etc.), but they couldn't be bothered to give the '95 Magic their blue alts, which they wore fairly regularly during the 1994-95 season and exclusively during road playoff games). It's not like they weren't featured in past 2K games. And weirdly, they took the time to give '13 Miami nearly their entire uniform catalog from that season.
  8. I hate that I can't quote posts (forgive the copy and paste): rxmc89: That's not really what I meant. Of course the name is a bit of a misnomer when you consider the relationship between a team's geography and its name. No one is disputing that. It's that the Jazz have been in Utah for so long, with so many historical milestones to show for it, that the location/name disconnect doesn't seem to matter a whole lot (at least to me). Plus, on a superficial note, "Utah Jazz" just sounds better.
  9. Speaking of the LA Kings, it's so weird to me that they had black, purple, and silver not unlike the NBA's Sacramento Kings who had a rivalry with the Lakers in the early 2000s. Is there a story behind that choice of color scheme? I know Milwaukee Bucks fans were happy when they dropped the purple from their scheme in 2006, partly due to the fact that one of the Packers' rivals (Vikings) have it as their primary color.
  10. And weirdly, Utah Jazz just sounds better.
  11. My comment regarding Utah stems from people continuing to believe that the Jazz belong back in New Orleans, and that the name doesn't make sense in its current location.
  12. I feel that the "Jazz" nickname is, in many ways, more synonymous with Utah than New Orleans. Stockton and Malone, the '97 and '98 Finals against Jordan's Bulls, and Jerry Sloan's long tenure in Utah have all made it such an appropriate fit.
  13. For the NBA, I'd say the 1990s was the best decade for uniforms. It was a very experimental time with unique color schemes, logos, and uniform templates. Sure, some looks haven't aged well, but there are some that I dearly miss (1988-1997 Hornets, 1989-1998 Magic, 1993-2000 Suns, 1995-2001 Sonics). I'm even a fan of Denver's look from 1993-2003 - even if it's synonymous with losing. And weirdly, Grant Hill made those teal Pistons jerseys work really well. But the best part about that era is that it was a very transitional period as well. You still had older, simpler templates that somehow managed to complement the newer, more experimental stuff. It was truly an overlap of uniform trends.
  14. The Dallas Mavericks' "trash bag" jerseys were nice. It's unfortunate that they only used them once, though I like their green alts a little better.
