So what would a 12 team playoff bracket look like with this season's final CFP rankings?

Byes: Ohio State, Georgia, TCU, and Michigan

    #5 Alabama vs. #12 Washington

#6 Tennessee vs. #11 Penn State

    #7 Clemson vs. #10 USC

#8 Utah vs. #9 Kansas State

Aaron Rodgers speedrunning a "what it means to be a dip💩 in 2022" achievement. There's still time for him to blame everything on the Jews by the end of the year!

The biggest issue with 9-11 conspiracies is thinking Dubya was competent enough to pull it off.

But seriously, I’m wondering how long Aaron Rodgers shows up at a Kanye concert talking about the evils of (((((((them))))))

It's also entirely possible that he was just :censored:-ing with Deshone Kizer to get a reaction. If Rodgers is, in fact, a "9/11 was an inside job" type, I'm 99% positive we would have heard about it before now. It's not like the guy is known for keeping his controversial thoughts to himself.

That totally sucked. Worst part is if we had Rourke playing we probably win that game by two touchdowns.

0-5 now in the MAC Championship game. Brutal.

If it had been anyone but the Rockets, I would have been all in for the Bobcats.

This feels like it's not the first time a team was "punished" for losing an extra game another team didn't have to play.

I think this is the second time Ohio State got in this way. If memory serves, Penn State was the team that got screwed - which I was totally fine with.

Michigan wins, plus with Georgia winning. I’m thinking Georgia, Michigan, TCU and Ohio State. Would love to see Michigan and Ohio State in the National Championship. But more than likely we see Georgia and Michigan

If Ohio State gets in - and it's a bigger if than it was this afternoon thanks to Nick Saban being allowed to campaign for Bama on the B1G CG - I can see the committee putting Ohio State at #3 to get the rematch with Michigan. Let's be honest, no one is going to watch whichever game TCU ends up in. Add that to the less than stellar ratings that the playoff games have been getting and they'd be foolish not to find a way to make Ohio State play Michigan in round one.

Worst case scenario (and I'm only about 84% sure this doesn't happen), Saban's campaign speech worked, Bama gets in, TCU gets screwed by Ohio State (again), and we get Georgia - Alabama and Ohio State - Michigan as our playoff match ups. Never forget that money drives the CFB Playoff train and those four teams are all guaranteed ratings.

It will make it less concerning over which teams are 3-6, but it really won't add any teams that are worth being called the best team of the year. If the format is more like the basketball tournament, ok.

What it basically does is move the "who's in, who's out, who got screwed" argument down to teams 10 thru 12. Someone will still get screwed, but it won't be as big a deal because no one cares if teams like Washington or  Oklahoma State don't get in.

Tennessee deserves to be in over Bama.

Utah and Kansas State deserve it more than either one of them. Either these conference championship games mean something or they don't. It can't be both. The CFB Playoff Committee puts a premium on conference championship games until it doesn't and here we are...again.

no, you don't understand, I meant that completely affectionately as a Syracuse fan that desperately wants the Big East back. plus I'm not even from Jersey.

My mistake. Sorry about that. It read like you were bashing the MAC. Anyway, I'm with you on wishing the Big East would come back.

Kannell and Mandell are crying about the possibility of Ohio State getting in and it makes me happy. It's one thing if USC lost by 3, but getting thumped like that after blowing a lead the last time they played will pretty much end their playoff hopes.

Do I think Ohio State deserves a playoff spot? No. That said, USC had a 17-3 lead and Utah proceeded to out score them 44-7 from that point forward. I'm no CFB Playoff Committee expert, but my guess is that's not going to play well with them. At this point, they either take a 2 loss USC team that got destroyed in its championship game or an Ohio State team whose one loss came to the #2 team in the rankings. It's bull-:censored: either way, but Ohio State is the much easier sell. Not to mention, Ohio State is also a much bigger draw than USC and we all know that money drives the CFB Playoff train. The new playoff format (which they totally stole* from me, by the way) should solve some of this nonsense.

*Look it up. The new playoff format is practically a carbon copy of the one I came up with and had been pimping on these here boards for at least the last ten years. Maybe longer.

Providing TCU doesn’t lose by 50, we have our playoff field set.

    UGA, Michigan, TCU, Ohio State.

All that’s left to determine tomorrow is seeding and Heisman.

If Michigan loses to Purdue (unlikely, but stranger things have happened) Ohio State is out. If both Michigan and TCU lose, I think Ohio State leapfrogs (no pun intended) TCU. Other than that, the field is more or less set.

  11. Before we get started, I'd like to thank the Lions, Vikings, Browns, and Eagles for ruining what should have been good looking games. Instead, you all decided to roll out the ugliest uniforms in your respective closets. Well done. With that, let's play our game.

    BEST

    1. Giants - Cowboys: The Cowboys throwbacks are awesome. (YMMV) They take me back to the days of Eddie LeBaron and Dandy Don Meredith - two guys who even my old ass is too young to have ever seen play.  Just thought the NFL historians around here might appreciate the reference.  Anyway, I let nostalgia get the best of me and that's how this game took the top spot. Well, that and I really do think it was the best looking game of the week.

    QJW3gGY.jpg

    2. Saints - 49ers: No idea what got into the Saints in this one. Did they accidentally pack the wrong pants, or were they intentionally trying to look good for once? Either way, it was nice to see them look like an NFL team for a week. I suppose one could argue there was too much gold in this game, but one would be wrong to try. This one looked great.

    H7nVNC5.jpg

    3. Steelers - Colts: Speaking of throwbacks and nostalgia, these Colts throwbacks take me back to the days of....did Johnny Unitas or Alan Ameche ever wear these? Doesn't matter. Anyway, I'm not crazy about the Colts throwbacks, but when paired with the Steelers, they're more than good enough to grab a spot on the best list.

    gpOtpky.jpg

    4. Rams - Chiefs: Look at the Rams riding their flawed, but still pretty solid best look to a second consecutive appearance on the best list. Never change, Chiefs.

    r55AdN8.jpg

    WORST

1 and only: Falcons - Commandos: If you were wondering what would happen if we took the two dumbest uniforms in the NFL and put them on the same field, you have your answer and it ain't pretty. There's a whole lot of stupid going on here.  Too much, in fact. There should be a law against this.

    That's it for this week.

I'm not going to get to watch the game, but I'd bet the farm that Tennessee rolls the Eagles.  Eagles just lost another star defensive back (CJGJ) to a lacerated kidney, which means that despite their depth, they're short at the exact spots where they don't have depth.  Defensive line, tight end, and now safety.  Hell - they might bring Malcom Jenkins out of retirement.  Suh and Linvall (or Linball?) whatever have played admirably inside along with Fletcher Cox, and the ends are solid (except for this Hassan Reddick loser - how the hell was he ever considered an impact player, other than he was on a loser team?)

They're basically in survive mode until they start getting Jordan Davis, Dallas Goedert, and CJGJ back (how long does a lacerated kidney take to heal... and how does one even get  a lacerated kidney?)

Losing Goedert hurt way more than expected, as he was on his way to a potential all-pro season and the jabronis behind him have played like 0 snaps in the NFL.  For a rookie that only plays 30% of snaps, Jordan Davis changes the opposing offenses game plan dramatically.  And CJGJ was the interception leader in a backfield full of stars.

They could very realistically drop 2 of next 3.  The only saving grace is that they have tie breaker over MIN and DAL, but they still have to play DAL in that loser-ass stadium which could be for the division.

If you do bet, they'll certainly be a good value play after TEN beats them.

    EDIT:

Mahomes is likely going to win MVP, and it's impossible to argue against his qualifications.  But Jalen Hurts deserves serious consideration for the way he's led (on and off the field) through this mess of a month.  It's hard to comprehend that a 9-1 team has had a "mess of a month", but they really don't feel like 9-1 right now, but maybe like 7-4.  But with Hurts at QB, even if he's not the most talented QB out there, I feel like they always have a chance.  I don't know what Hurts' ceiling is, but I've never felt more confident in someone's work ethic and IQ that he'll reach his ceiling.  There's lots of guys with higher ceilings that will never reach theirs, but he'll reach his - wherever it is.

It's been a long time since I've been proud of the kind of guy the Eagles QB is.  I can't think of a better leader for this team right now than Jalen Hurts (never mind that they have a veteran future HOFer and other respected guys as leaders, the QB is always the more important - and he's nailing it.)

Did you get lost on your way to the NFL season thread?

So now I'm curious as the worst all-time head-to-head team record prime time matchup...

Not sure if their records were the worst ever, but this one has to be in the discussion. The Giants and Cardinals  were both 2-5 when they met on MNF in 1983. The game was awful and it ended in a 20-20 tie. The best thing about that game was when Dandy Don Meredith said "Neither one of these teams deserves to win so maybe justice will prevail."
