  1. I'm more partial to the 97-99 caps myself.
  2. hail the Bavarians valiant hail to the conquering beermen hail hail to Milwaukee
  3. as far as the Dolphins, I was more partial to the 97 version...same look, much less blob-like.
  4. Because I suddenly have no idea how to alter my sig anymore  I opened a store, you can buy some stuff.

  5. About a year or so ago, I came across a site selling 12 sided dice...that are billed as a replacement for the classic 6 sided variety. Having rolled many dice in my life, I gotta say they have a point: cubes don't roll all that well, though the versions with the round corners are somewhat better in this regard. The d20 that is the only thing I still have from my days of buying MLB Showdown has always rolled pretty well, and I have a good amount of cardstock, and am myself, so I reasoned I could modify an existing d12 template to design some doublesixes of my own. I sort of succeeded (and also printed a Bears-themed normal d12), except I made the dice too large. I'll probably post some of my dice designs in the concepts section in the coming week, but this weekend has been the first time I rolled them in game action. First, Friday afternoon saw me bring out Heroes & Rallies Football to pre-play tomorrow's Packers game vs Tampa Bay. What followed was one of the sloppiest beginnings I've had the honor (or dishonor) of playing, and it never really got better for the Pack. Suffice to say Jameis, Evans and Jackson killed the Packer secondary while if the Packers weren't fumbling, Hundley was probably ready to get sacked or picked off. Buccaneers 7-10-7-3---27...Elite players: Jameis Winston (QB), Mike Evans (WR) Packers------7-0--3-2---12...Elite players: Jordy Nelson (WR), Mason Crosby (K), Mike Daniels (DT)* (working on the assumptions that Clay won't play, and has fallen off anyway) *for those wondering why anybody's elite...on certain color-coded results, elite players can make the difference between a loss/short gain and a huge pickup...or between giving up good yardage and huge stops. An example being a roll that would've been a pass for about 15 or so yards, but it's highlighted in orange and the Packers are on defense. On these results, if the defense has an elite DL, he sacks the QB for an 8 yard loss. Another example would be a dark green result that would ordinarily be a 4 yard gain, but it's now 4th and 6. An elite QB, however, turns this into a 20 yard gain. Then, while the early CCGs were on, I decided to put an idea I'd had recently onto the field: a certain star's debut lineup vs the lineup from his final game. The star in question was A-Rod...and let's just say this seemed like a better idea in my head than it ended up being, but I went through with it anyway. The 2016 Yankees head back into time to play the 94 Mariners, with CC Sabathia taking the hill for the Bombers. You'd expect Randy Johnson to be the opposite hurler, no? Nope...some guy named Dave Fleming. Matter of fact, while the Yankees had their starters in the game, that M's lineup was basically Junior surrounded by baby A-Rod and mostly backups. Given that on one side was an A-Rod who wasn't great yet, and on the other, an A-Rod who was no longer great...yeah, honestly both were given a deficiency: Kid-Rod had no power, Old-Rod had lost his bat. Mariner A-Rod went 0-4 with a K, while Yanks A-Rod was 2-5 with a double and an RBI. I'd rolled a result on Old-Rod's last AB that would've given him a shot at a homer...except, his poor hitter rating kicked in, and he instead struck out. The first inning was pretty eventful, as Didi Gregorius robbed Brian Turang of a hit to start the game...and then Aaron Hicks dropped a routine fly ball, enabling Felix Fermin to reach third. Not to be left out of the error party, Brett Gardner had his own botching of a routine fly off Junior's bat, and he reached second while Fermin scored. CC mostly settled down after that, though his outfielders' letdowns would contribute to his early exit via fatigue, as he left after 4 1/3, having allowed 6 runs, 4 of them unearned...and the two earned runs reaching on a home run the Yanks' first reliever, Adam Warren, gave up to Mike Blowers. Fleming, meanwhile, couldn't keep the Yanks off the scoreboard for long, giving up single runs in the third and fourth, the latter off a Texiera solo shot. Entering the 6th, the M's led 7-3....and then had an epic meltdown, as Fleming exited after giving up a pair of singles, giving way to aging Goose Gossage, who had the inning from hell: the first five batters he faced all reached via either singles or walks...and then after consecutive strikeouts made it look like he'd settled down, Brian McCann smacked a grand slam into the stands. A Didi gregorius triple later, and Goose was taking an early shower, relieved by Tim Davis. Davis would shut the door, but while Mariners would score one further run off of Warren, but would get no closer, and the Yankees won 11-8. WP: Warren; LP: Gossage; SV: Betances
  6. Western Michigan...the bronco carries the state on its back doe (ignore the vintage label, it's about as vintage as Miller Park)
  7. I remember back in my younger days halfway wondering why their baseball games' box art always had at least one Orioles pic...and never made the connection until much later in my life Oh well, there are far worse choices than the O's.
  8. For anyone who was wondering about it, the full version of Techno Bowl came out at the end of July. (The main reason I'm just posting about this now is back at the end of July and most of August, I was dealing with a family health issue, and I'll leave it at that.) Reviews, from what I've seen, have been of the rave variety. And I know one thing...if this wasn't alerady something I wanted to play, the addition of the Oilers Coilers would do the trick. I'm just gonna say one thing: look the out electric football, you have a new rival!
  9. Daily reminder to chew your damn food...almost won a Darwin Award this morning :lol:

  10. Major Announcement: College to Pro returns this weekend!

  11. I recall reading an NBA almanac years ago, and one year, they tried a round robin. Just checked Wikipedia and it was 1954, the first round was a double round robin. I think something like what the Filipino basketball league does would be workable. Granted, their seasons are split in three, each with it's own playoffs, but anyway, the top two seeds, in a best of 3, get a free win for all intents and purposes. Meaning they only have to win one game to advance, while their opponent needs to win twice. People would moan about there being less basketball, but the NBA be playoffs drag on seemingly forever.
  12. It's just a bit odd, is all. Kinda like the Wisconsin Woodchucks still calling themselves such even though there are more WI teams in the Northwoods now.
  13. It'd seem odd for the Dickinson team to call itself Dakota when they'll be far from the lone team in either Dakota. If it were an option, though...Badlands Clippers would've been awesome.
  14. Please don't kill my vibe, because Lamar's up
  15. Continued...figured the fellas may want t-shirts, so I sent them a few ideas (though fewer than I'd intended to, as they asked for some extra work to commemorate their recent cup win)...two are relatively basic, two are shirseys Striping pattern is another stripes-within-stripes look, this time essentially a vertical version of my Boston U design from when I did a Beanpot set a while back. Faux gradient has been used in at least a couple concepts, striped jumper is a new design I have no idea whether they'll use any of my jumper ideas, but to modify a certain phrase...to get paid is glorious
  16. Been considering phasing out Photobucket for a while now...as you can see, looks like they're phasing me out in any event, to celebrate me finding a new host, a little something I haven't had the chance to post until now, given I was largely focused on the paid work that'd stumbled upon me. ...and speaking of that paid work...not sure when they're gonna roll anything out, but they already paid me, so it's storytime. Last month, I found out that the USAFL site was using an old Port Adelaide concept of mine to represent the Dallas Magpies (and I'm almost positive my old partner in crime is responsible), and apparently at least some of the guys down there liked it enough that they asked me for permission to use that old thing (which IMO is a piece of crap compared to when I improved on it the first time...but at the same time still better than what they had). I offered to rework it, mainly so it didn't look so obviously made for Port Adelaide (by this, I mean no teal and no lightning), and they offered to pay for the effort, so I threw in some concepts along with the identity. On the upside, my :censored:load of footy concepts meant there was a stupefying amount of designs I could rework in a relative hurry, I mainly wanted to give them some examples to show what they could do. The full magpie is the primary, and there's a "Big D" secondary, as well as a winged star. White back is modified from the Rhode Island home from my old State of Origin series, while the black back is modified from a "braces" design I first used for a Notre Dame concept. Recolored version of my Arkansas set, basically. Black jumper and bottom white are both modified from my Canisius design, while the "vortex" white is a new design. White back uses a stripes-within-stripes pattern, while the Texas flag black jumper I just did for kicks
  17. Well, to be fair, given blue flames are actually the hottest, at least they did the research. I'm not gonna say this is even a good logo, only that it could have been worse. Not sure how, but it could've. It's very clear this aint a hockey logo.
  18. It has been one crazy week and a half, yall...but paid work stumbling upon you is like that.  In any event, I'm excited...a real team will be using my logo!!! :winner::woot::lol:

  19. Yeh can take my life...but yeh cannae take MY FREEDOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! There can be only one... Ward, I think you were a little hard on the Beaver, so were Eddie Haskell, Wally and Miss Cleaver The zipper of my trousers seems to have come undone...please allow me to excuse myself to the lavatory In other words, Fly is open, Let's Go Peay!
  20. ....aaaand I'd forgotten about the inaccuracies I'd seen in Gameday 2004 until I decided to reenact Super Bowl XXV for the hell of it. Unlike in Madden or 2K, teams in Gameday basically only had their then-current uniforms and one throwback set...and if the team in question had changed uniforms since going to a Super Bowl, there's usually a good chance said uniform won't be available to the current team. Anyways, now giving you Discrim's Incomplete List of Gameday 04 Inaccuracies That You'll Promptly Forget About 90s Bills: the road whites are paired with blue pants instead of the actual white pair 85 Patriots: the home white pants' striping is blue-red-blue, when it should be red-blue-red 96 Patriots: block numbers instead of their italic digits, and wrong socks (white with red-blue-red striping, should be blue with a thin red stripe) Eagles throwbacks (Randall Cunningham era): the eagles are missing from the sleeves Redskins throwbacks: based on the 70th anniversary uniform, complete with a white version that has never existed Falcons throwback: based on the red-silver era, but the falcons are missing from the sleeves and from a few other games...not sure if it was this way in earlier Blitz games, as I don't play as or against the Chiefs often, but the arrowhead on the left side of the Chiefs' helmets pointed the wrong way in Blitz 2003, and probably Blitz Pro too. Another oldie from Madden: the late 80s Saints home unis had white numbers w/black and gold outline IRL, but had gold numbers with a black and white outline in several Maddens.
  21. Woof...I live about 15-20 minutes away from an actual D3 stadium (at Carthage College) and went to UW-Whitewater. Can confirm both schools' football facilities being easier on the eyes than Fordham's (never been inside Carthage's gym).
