You know, maybe just maybe, the bone could be salvageable. White needs to be completely gone. All it does is make the bone look dingy. Then, if you add a blue-yellow-blue pants stripe and keep it paired with blue socks, it might not be that bad. I honestly think its the way the secondary colors are used that make it look horrendous. The color isn't bad, its really almost every other aspect of the uniform that just terribly designed. It brings attention to the color in the worst possible way.

Plus, naming it bone and releasing a new logo that sort of resembles genitalia didn't really do it any favors 😂

Bone could work for somebody out there...it just doesn't work for the Rams at all.

It's been 48 seasons since the Giants moved to the Meadowlands and I think 40 or 41 since the Jets moved there... that's about two full generations that haven't seen a midfield logo for either team (and probably longer, don't know if the Giants had one at the Yale Bowl or Shea or Yankee Stadium before that or if the Jets had one at Shea, and my inclination is that, no, they didn't)

Well, the Jets did have their logo at midfield for the last two years Giants Stadium used the old AstroTurf (and apparently occasionally had their helmet at midfield their last few years at Shea).  While the Giants didn't really do the same, they did have GIANTS STADIUM beneath the shield those same years.  But yeah, it's been a while for Jets fans, and probably a first for Giants fans.

I think so. I can’t recall any NFL throwbacks prior.

I'm curious...what was the first throwback? Would these have been 1994?

The Jets wore white Broadway Joe era throwbacks for a 1993 game against the Bengals to celebrate the 68 team.  Main difference between these and the version worn in 1994 was they didn't bother with helmet stripes.

The Eagles tried this in '96.  I didn't get it then, and I don't get it now.  Glad they corrected:

Check out the sock wordmark!!  Never noticed that.  I don't think it ever made it to a real game.

How about that...sock wordmarks were mostly an AFC thing as far as I was aware (Dolphins, Bengals, Patriots, Jets for a year, Chargers were the last team to use them and the only ones to take them into the 2000s)

  5. Occasionally, I see somebody wearing an Expos cap.  A couple minutes ago, a pickup pulled away from the bus stop I'm currently at, and it had a CF Montreal decal on it.  I almost never see anything MLS around these parts, let alone anything Canadian MLS...and AFAIK there's no real affinity to Montreal or French Canada here (now Guadalajara, that's a different story).

  6. Dusting off the 1968 replay with the AFL West battles that would determine whether the Raiders or Chiefs would win the division outright or need a tiebreaker game...TLDR version: Raiders blew the Bolts the eff out, Chiefs had a slightly tougher time with the Broncos.

Summaries: Raiders 56, Chargers 24... Oakland's offense basically ran circles around the Bolts like they owed them money... wasn't even San Diego miscues, the Raiders were just too good right now

Chiefs 31, Broncos 16...a tale of two halves: the first half saw Denver keeping it close, and actually leading briefly, as they went into halftime down 17-14.  The second half was all Chiefs, as the only score Denver managed was a safety early in the 4th.

AFL West tiebreaker: Raiders 24, Chiefs 12...KC threw four interceptions.  Hard to win when you constantly give the ball away.

NFL Divisional Round: Colts 34, Vikings 17...and it wasn't even as close as the final would suggest.  Baltimore was in complete control, with the Vikes trailing 34-7 midway through the fourth before some too little too late efforts.

Cowboys 28, Browns 21...from the tail end of the first quarter to midway through the second, Dallas exploded for 21 of their 28 points with back to back touchdown runs and a kickoff returned for a score.  Cleveland got within 7 midway through the 4th, however in spite of two Cowboy turnovers, the Browns couldn't capitalize and fell just short.

1968 NFL Championship Game: Colts 19, Cowboys 17...both teams combined for four interceptions in the 1st quarter, and very rarely did either team take advantage of great field position.  Dallas' late touchdown brought them within two, but they couldn't recover the onside kick, allowing the Colts to run the clock out and punch their ticket to Miami.

1968 AFL Championship Game: Raiders 34, Jets 28 (OT)...the offenses started out red hot, as the opening quarter ended with the Jets leading 21-13, but then the defenses solidified on both sides, culminating in a defensive struggle that saw both the 2nd and 3rd quarters go scoreless.  The Raiders finally found the end zone again in the fourth, tying the game on a 2 point conversion, after which the teams traded touchdown runs to end regulation at 28-all.  The Jets won the coin toss, but their lengthy drive ended with a missed field goal, which Oakland couldn't capitalize on, as they were forced to punt, but pinned New York deep in it's own territory.  The Raiders won on a pick six, enabling them to make a return trip to Miami.

So I will soon give you an alternate Super Bowl III: the Oakland Raiders vs the Baltimore Colts.

Funny thing nobody will give a damn about but me: the Colts-Cowboys game seemed to drag on despite ending in regulation...and damn game took up more rows on the score sheet than the Jets-Raiders game that had more scoring and went into overtime.

That's not a shocker to me at all. I done seen Packers paraphernalia all across this North American landmass. It may surprise some, but there's a surprising contingent in, of all places, Pittsburgh.

Funny you should mention that...there seems to be an emerging contingent of Steelers fans in my neck of the woods.

I saw Packers and Brewers gear on my trip to Wisconsin, but no Bucks though the Bucks won a title more recently than the other two. Hmm

Basically, the Bucks' fanbase covers far less of the state than does that of the Brewers, never mind the Packers.  Depends on where you went and how far away from Milwaukee you were, though.

  8. Been a while, let's get to it.  First, USC.  Relatively simple design, aside from the cuffs and bottom stripe, which feature a Trojan-styled USC pattern (probably should've included it blown up, as I know it's somewhat tough to see here)

Riding in like a Vandal, Idaho.  Again, stayed relatively simple here.

They're the only team with a navy helmet and navy facemask.

The Bears and Broncos say hi...one thing I know, though, the Texans got the number font right, I hope they keep it.
