  1. I was kind of dragged kicking and screaming, but I agree. Pat had far too much detail. I don't love the flying Elvis logo, but it's decent. However, my unpopular opinion is that the red 1980's Pats jersey (the one with the shoulder stripes) is a top-5 jersey in NFL history. Pat in his old form can't be brought back as a primary for a modern NFL team. It just can't. They definitely need to modernize it before bringing it back. The 1980s-1992 jerseys with the shoulder stripes were fantastic.
  2. I did not know either of them played for those teams. Let alone Z playing in the Fish Stick jerseys! Excellent find. Wow, I didn't even realize Chara played for the Islanders, let alone wear the Fisherman. Did he wear the regular jersey at all? Yup
  3. im sorry, but he's the only reason you made the playoffs this year No. Their defense played a pretty big part keeping them in the games when Tebow had like two completions throughout the first three quarters. Anyway, here's some shots of Brian Leetch during his stint with the Bruins:
  4. Agreed. I love those uniforms for the Flames.
  5. At least he spent more than half a season with the Rangers, unlike with the Blues:
  6. I think with the new road script in those colors and red placket piping, it would be great. OR a move that the Sox could make which would be surprising, but awesome is get a red crown, blue B, blue brimmed hat and wear it on the road with the current roadies with the blue script. I think that would look epic, but that's really for another thread, not here. Concept time! Haha
  7. I hate the 1990-2008 Red Sox road uniforms and everyone's inexplicable love affair with them. There. There, I said it. They were nice in the 90s, but grew outdated by the time the update came around.
  8. And they're still better than what they had before
  9. By "squiggly eagle" do you mean this? If so, I agree that the eagle shouldn't be brought back verbatim. Everthing's off-center and looks incredibly archaic. That said, if they touche it up and modernize it (like Ice_Cap), then you'd have a pretty good Team USA logo.
  10. I'd like my neighbors to the north to go to that uniform design. It is incredibly nice. I can't really complain about American national team designs. The Team USA soccer team kits since about 2003 are nice (though the crest could use some work). The Team USA baseball team has an awesome design. USA Hockey and USA Basketball both have crappy logos, but at least those logos have ceased appearing on the uniforms. I personally think that all Team USA teams should use a touched-up and modernized version of this logo: but that's just my (probably unpopular) opinion. Actually, I think you're going to see something like that this time around ... After what's happened with the soccer and ice hockey teams not being allowed to use their federation wordmarks, I think you're going to see these on a lot more jerseys this time around. Well, then. I guess we're going to see by the time the Olympics roll around. I, for one, will be excited to see what they do. I prefer the older eagle to that crest, though. However, it would look great on the Team USA soccer kits.
  11. Much appreciated As for the IIHF thread, I actually did that a while back during the 2010 games. Though I'd like to revisit a few of those concepts.... You already did it? I'd like to check that out. I'll go looking for it in the concepts section (of course, a link would be nice too...) Here ya go. Thanks. I love the Russia one, though Norway is my favorite (besides the USA one, of course). All of them are great, though Belarus' national emblem seems a bit too...ornate and detailed for a hockey crest. I also liked that you added the "sash" to the German sweater. "Sashes" are some of my favorite features on soccer kits, and the sash really works well on the German jersey. I decided to reply to you with my opinions on this thread rather than bumping a two year old thread, so apologies to the mod for bringing this thread further off-topic.

It seems so obvious, yet it's never really been explored all that much. Self-promotion time! That is great. I would be more than pleased if Team USA moved to that design for the next Winter Olympics. Have you considered creating a "redesigning the IIHF" or something thread in the concepts section, if you have ideas for other international hockey teams? ~~~~ Oddly enough, I've been mulling around creating a topic for random opinions people would just like to espouse.

  15. Yes. The Hawks redesign of a few years ago was fantastic. I think the Hawks redesign was terrible. They abandoned the color scheme which they completely owned in basketball, one which has been synonymous with the franchise for fourty something years, in order to adopt a color scheme which a whole bunch of teams across all sports already wear. Not only that, but every element of the new jerseys (font, wordmark, logos) blows. Their previous set before the rebrand was underwhelming, but the current stuff was a giant mistake. But the uniforms after the redesign looked a lot better than before, and are among the best in the NBA. I also didn't think the color design, while unique, didn't look very good on the court. The Hawks between the Wilkins/Webb era and the current era looked horrible. And the font, logos and wordmarks are fantastic. I don't care what you think. This is the unpopular opinion's thread, isn't it? This is one of my (many) unpopular opinions.
  16. So do I but I actually give them a pass on the italics because the numbers are simple without any outlines with a clean back drop of the complete opposite color. Works for me. Me as well.
  17. I literally just said that. Good to know I'm not the only one!
  18. If they were an Original Six team, they'd be okay (but still unspectacular). What drags the uniform down for people, including myself, is that a non-traditional franchise in Tampa Bay is playing Original Six Dress-up and borrowing heavily from the Maple Leafs and Red Wings to do so. Not to mention, in their rush to force in elements of a tradition they don't have, they eliminated the one defining aesthetic tradition they did have - the victory stripes. This is exactly what everyone who doesn't like the new uniforms thinks. EDIT: And the thing is, their two previous uniforms were great. And they've canned it. ~~~~ I also love the Steelers' rounded numbers. It's something unique to the league, and sets them apart. I hate the Steelers, but love the rounded numbers.
  19. Bold is stuff I agree, strikethrough is stuff I disagree with. The strikethrough is what I'd expect from most. I am surprised to see how much you agree with though. And to clarify, not exclusively color-on-color, but just a lot more. This would obviously require some teams to have two non-white jerseys, which just won't work for all(Colts, Jets in NFL; Leafs, Lighting in NFL; Celtics in NBA). I just think plenty of teams lose their identity with white jerseys. Color-on-color is just way more visually appealing to me. However, the one notable exception to less that I can think of would be the Philadelphia Flyers. I'd take them in white before black any day. Haha, yeah, it's the unpopular opinion thread, post your unpopular opinions! Anyway, I just vastly prefer the white jerseys to the colored jerseys, but that's just my opinion. I do like color-on-color in moderation, though. Any particular reason why? Tradition? I may not think all that highly of soccer, but at least they've got a good system for jerseys. Tradition is part of it, yes, but the main reason is that I think that white uniforms just look better than their colored counterparts. It's a weird thing, but that's what I think.
