To be fair, Pennsylvania has two NL teams (in-state rivals, if you will) in real life. Cincinnati will never switch leagues. They were the first team and will ways be in the NL. Hmm. Maybe in that case Cincinnati and Charlotte can switch places. Or, if that's not good enough, move CIN to the NL North, STL to the NL south, and CHA to the AL South.

This brings up an issue regarding NBA (and NHL, I think) divisions that I think about every once in a while... Why do they even exist? Is it just to create a feeling of regional rivalries? It seems kind of pointless when it is a team's position in the conference, not division, that really matters. Which is why if the NHL did go back to 28 teams I would love to see them reinstitute the divisional playoff system that the league abandoned in the early 90's. Furthermore what better way to promote some bad blood among rivals then to have to play an additional 8-14 divisional games in the playoffs. Yeah, after posting that, I kind of realized why the NBA has divisions - a team is guaranteed to play 4 games per season against the teams in its division, hence promoting regional rivalries. I can't really comment on the NHL divisions because I'm not familiar enough with their scheduling and playoff systems.

Actually, it's nothing like that. Nothing at all. To me, it's a lot like that. It's bothering someone because they bought a cheaper product that still gets the job done. As in, "I overpaid, so everyone else should too. And if anyone finds a way to get a similar product for less money, then I'm going to be jealous." Wouldn't it be more like the Lexus owner being peeved at the Toyota owner who threw Lexus emblems on his car? Not really, because if I buy a counterfeit item, I'm not buying it with the intention of "masking" it's counterfeit-ness or making people think that it's real.

Hmm. Don't you think that would ruin regional rivalries (and rivalries in general) then? I kind of like having the same teams in each division each season.

I'm confused by all these people screaming "ILLEGAL" regarding these counterfeits. I've seen a lot of these guys post embedded YouTube videos in various threads here, have avatars that I'm not sure they have permission to use, etc... It seems kind of hypocritical to me. If the merchandise is what I want, chances are I'll buy it, even if it is illegal. Everyone breaks laws and in the grand scheme of things I feel like this is a fairly harmless violation of the law.

Actually, that has less than nothing to do with the topic here. I think that many people who choose to download music illegally at least recognize that they are committing a crime and that it's wrong, they just choose to do it anyway. That doesn't make it right, but at least (IMO) most of these people do understand right from wrong in this case and choose to do wrong. In the case of counterfeit jerseys, many of you idiots really don't understand why it's wrong and illegal, and that it can hurt someone. Some of you are actually making the point that it's right to do it. I couldn't really care less if someone knows the situation and then still chooses to do something wrong (and deals with the consequences if caught... though there aren't many legal consequences to buying a fake jersey) but it does bother me that there exist people who simply don't get that it is wrong, it is stealing, and it is illegal. Plus it's dumb to come on a board that is frequented by companies who actually produce some of the designs that are being stolen. But considering that these days 80% of this board is either 10-year-old kids, people who come here just to talk about how great Jesus is, or just general idiots, I'm not surprised by the lack of common sense. I read his post, and it didn't address my double standard concerns. It's simple. There is no double standard, and the only concern you should have is whether or not you're going to be able to get a job and support yourself or if your low intelligence level will require you to have constant care even as an adult. ??? I know plenty of intelligent people who are unemployed or (or severely underemployed) due to reasons that are for the most part not their fault.

Actually, I have said that I don't speed because it is not my car. And, even though you can't manage to understand it: Speeding is a victimless crime a whereas stealing is not. Do you think driving while intoxicated is a victimless crime?

Absolutely, these are ignorent people with no knowledge of jerseys, sports logos, or anything else to do with them. Im sure most people on these boards pity these people. They will never know the joy of purchasing an authentic jersey, knowing its the real thing and being able to know why. It's hard for me to not make a joke about misspelling "ignorant." You walked right into that one. But I won't say anything else about that. I disagree with you guys, I consider myself to be very knowledgeable about sports logos, but that wouldn't necessarily stop me from buying a fake. I mean it's not like I actually play for the team. As long as the fake doesn't have blatant errors, I would have no problem buying and wearing it. I think I would get more "joy" out of buying a fake and being able to buy something else with the money I saved, than supposed joy gotten from buying an authentic. And I guess that's what makes people different. Blatant error = Illegal item w/stolen artwork? "Joy" = Using the saving from the purchase of illegal items? I meant a blatantly noticeable error. Like a wrong letter, or wrong font, or something like that. Not the fact that it's illegal in and of itself. And I didn't want to steer the discussion back to this, but here we go: Do you ever exceed the speed limit while driving? Then I guess you drive illegally. #1 Speeding is a victimless crime, intellectual property theft is not. Speeding is a civil infraction where as theft is a crime. #2 Since I drive a company car I do not speed out of fear/concern of tickets or trouble at work. Speeding is not a victimless crime. It is one of the leading causes of automobile accidents. I say this as a former NHTSA Engineer (and someone with more than half a brain). I'm not saying that intellectual property theft is not a crime (I have also worked as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO), but to say that speeding is less serious of a crime than IP theft is completely asinine.
