I guess the pandemic has really slowed things down.  I feel like this thread would normally be up to 60 pages by now.

July 1 is when new athletic apparel contracts usually kick in so in normal years you'd see a few changes then. I am not aware of any major brand changes.

  2. This is a huge improvement for Charlotte. Its simple but unique. My biggest gripe is the CLT mark being so prominent. I haven't spent much time in Charlotte so perhaps they refer to the city as CLT, but I never have been a fan of airport codes/abbreviations being part of team logo packages

  3. The bowl game played in Charlotte that has been the Continental Tire Bowl, Meineke Car Care Bowl, and most recently the Belk Bowl, will now be known as the Duke's Mayo Bowl.

Duke's Mayo will also sponsor an early season game in Charlotte now called the Duke's Mayo Classic. This year's game will be Notre Dame vs Wake Forest.

Hopefully they work that in to an alternate helmet because their current one is awful.

I agree. A half body of pistol pete over a wordmark is fine for a primary logo for the field, print, media, etc., but it is a terrible helmet logo. You cant make out what it is on the helmet unless you are on the field next to a player. They need something simpler.

  5. Cheez-It moved their sponsorship from the game in Phoenix (which is now called the Cactus Bowl again) and moved it to the game in Orlando that used to be called the Camping World Bowl (previously the Tangerine/Champs Sports/Russell Athletic Bowl).

Orlando will host the Cheez-It Bowl, with the snack food replacing Camping World as the game's title sponsor.

I don’t see it for a few reasons. Jordan wouldn’t position themselves against the primary rival of Michael Jordan’s own school. South Carolina is already one of UA’s more prominent schools and if they can hang on to them, they should. Also, Jordan tends to go after some of the biggest and most successful teams (UNC, Michigan, Florida, Oklahoma) and I just don’t see SC in that category- they’re definitely more middle of the pack.

Edit- pardon my total whiff on NC and SC being main rivals. D’oh!

With Florida already being the Jordan Brand school in the SEC East, Nike has little reason to make South Carolina a Jordan school. Not meant to be a knock on South Carolina, but it wouldnt line up with how Nike is handling the brand up to this point as there has yet to be two Jordan schools in the same conference let alone division.

  7. A&M just shared a photo of a player wearing a uniform with last season's patches but with no bevel on the team name and numbers. It is the second photo on the post below. I dont know if it is a promo shoot for next season or a photoshopped pic from last season meant to show off what new uniforms could look like and it wasn't meant for distribution.

  8. The 1998 A&M uniform would be too plain for my liking. @Htown1141 made a perfect concept for what I would want an A&M uniform to look like. Just make a few tweaks to get rid of the elements that date the uniform. No need to go to full scale the opposite direction and remove all character.

Looks like (University of) Houston's wordmark. But since they're both red, it works for both.

Image result for Houston University wordmark

Or are they REMOVING that turf?

That endzone is the current/old one for the stadium. Since it just says Houston they COULD leave it and just replace the midfield logos.

I think most leagues are in charge of branding now, with the ownership of each team giving some input here and there. You could see a ffew changes if they went to franchis ownership, but I'm not sure that would happen until this league was 10-15 years in.

New turf is what? $400,000 plus labor for install and $37,500x5 days. So around $880,000 for turf install and field reservations. That's probably still under what NRG would charge by a good bit.

NRG Stadium and the rest of the NRG Park complex has 2 primary tenants: the Texans and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Rodeo takes over the entire NRG Park complex from Freb. 27 through March 22 this year. Even if cost wasn't an issue, the Rodeo has dibs on NRG stadium every March from now until the stadium ceases to exist. It simply was not an available option

According to P-FW...this logo continually came out as the top choice among focus groups. That Blue looks....really forced...with it just being a single stroke on the Mastadon. Not really digging the way the shade works with the Purdue black & gold. *cringe*

I get what they were trying to do by placing blue in the logo as their school colors prior to the IU-PU split were blue and white. Now that they are solely part of the Purdue University system, their school colors are black and gold. Blue is not officially part of their scheme so this forced addition is even worse. They should have either left blue in the past or stuck with blue and white.

  12. The Astros have removed all of the division title/wild card pennants from the left field light posts and have 2 pennants to unveil tonight. One will be for the 2017 World Series title and I assume the 2nd is the 2005 National League title. I wish they would keep the division titles up somewhere as it is no small feat to win your division in baseball. The 80's and 90's Astros should still be honored somehow in my opinion. It was even harder prior to the 90's when each league only had 2 divisions.
