I wish they would have just applied the blue parts of the logo as individual decals rather than having a giant black decal on a black helmet

What are you doing, Texas?? The sleeve numbers are a key part of the uniform. Can’t imagine Vince Young pointing at the confetti without them.

The problem is they haven't been sleeve numbers since 2012. They got relocated to the shoulders in 2013 when they got the Mach Speed template. I honestly didnt realize they moved them for an entire decade. It does seem odd to not have any numbers on the sleeve or shoulder as they have been there since the mid-70s

While it hasn’t been explicitly stated by the school, some folks believe these are new Texas uniforms. It’s hard to see, but the Longhorn collar logo appears gone, and some are speculating the shoulder numbers were dropped, too (it’s a single digit number, so I don’t think this one image proves anything). I’ve also seen debate whether the shade of orange is darker. Their shade has definitely gotten lighter over the years. We need better photos to confirm anything.

Even if the only change is the removal of the Longhorn chest logo, it's already a huge improvement. The chest has been overcrowded for years now on the Texas uniform.

Should have kept pontiac. They have so many more memorable models like the trans am, fire bird, GTO ect. Buick has what? The grand national and that’s it.

China is the sole reason Buick still exists. I don't know why they even kept it as an American brand when 80% of all Buick branded cars sold are Chinese market sales. I have a co-worker who is a Chinese immigrant and he was asking me the other day why he doesn't see any Buicks on the roads here since its an American brand.

Guess I never really demanded modernity from gas stations. I appreciate the continuity of a Shell station that hasn't been updated since 1996.

Marathon's a weird one. We have a few around here, but they seem to be an endangered species. Chicago has always been a Mobil and Amoco (BP since '02 but they're easing Amoco back) town. It's like seeing a Superamerica. It feels misplaced.

Marathon started off as the "Ohio Oil Company" so Amoco has always been their midwestern rival since Standard Oil was broken up. Living in Houston, it was always weird to see oil companies have HQ here (like marathon and Amoco/BP) but have zero of their gas station brands around.

  6. The game formerly known as the Outback Bowl is now the ReliaQuest Bowl. While this is trading one corporate name for another, this just feels like a huge downgrade. The logo is ok but I doubt all the gradients will transition well to the field.

I kind of assumed every Tech school was officially called something else until basically just now. I didn't realize Texas Tech was officially just Texas Tech University.

It originally was Texas Technological College. In the 50's they decided to rename to a university since they were offering far more than just technical college classes. Ideas floated out were Texas State, University of the Southwest, Texas Technological College and State University, and The Texas University of Art, Science and Technology. They settled on Texas Tech because they wanted to preserve the Double T logo.

    Yuck...

And as far as the 1996 look, no one wants to go back to that. Sure, there are some older alumni who want to bring back the "Flying T" uniforms, but the majority of TCU supporters don't want to be reminded of when 3 win seasons where the norm.

Every time I see a AAA Cooper Transportation trailer I think I'm looking at a mirrored "Flying T" TCU logo

I wish TCU would bring back a silver helmet (as an alt if not the primary). I always thought these were a nice look (albeit simple) but if they added the frog skin helmet stripe to this, it could look pretty cool.

didn't think it could get worse than removing the V-star from the helmet for just a block V, but here we are. good lord vandy

I agree, but they already shifted away from the V-star last season. They just used their black V on a gold helmet for every game.

Let me know your thoughts! I might end up doing more teams

    C&C appreciated!

Forcing an H, which is 3 straight lines, into the top half of a circle just doesnt work for me. Without the wordmark to the right telling you that its associated with the Houston Texans, I don't think I would see the roundel by-itself as being an H over a T. I see an incomplete bridge over a T. Other than that its good work.

Nope, that might just be the institutional mark. But, what do we get instead for athletics? Gradients!

Ha. We've got plenty of those too. But I was referring to the numerous shopping centers/mall that line all of our major thoroughfares in the area.

Honestly kinda forgot about the Dynamo. Like everything about them. I feel like I've seen that one before.

Unfortunately for the Dynamo, most of Houston has forgotten about them too. Being near the bottom of the standings for multiple years will do that. As far as the new kit....meh. I would prefer more orange on it. I don't get how it ties in to our bayous. If they wanted a bayou kit they would have it be yoohoo brown. Perhaps they are dark grey to represent our numerous grey freeways and grey strip centers

I’m not sure, but it looks very bland to me. I think they should’ve made a Tequila Sunrise themed logo like their 50 anniversary logo.
    it’s just my opinion.

To be fair, the 60th anniversary is kind of a bland anniversary to celebrate. They were doing anniversary logos every 5 years starting with 35 until they skipped 55. I hope they skip them until they kit 75, but I'm sure in 2025 we'll get a 60th anniversary of being renamed the Astros patch,

  16. 15 minutes ago, Brian E said:

it's wild to me that the astros can't tell the difference between an anniversary and an ordinal, so they just use them interchangeably. did anyone bothering counting how many seasons there were between 1962 and 2022?

Its technically been 60 years since their first game in 1962 so its not that egregious. However, it is confusing as its their 61st year/season. They have mismatched seasons/anniversaries along with franchise years and noting years of being just called the Astros with all of their past patches.
