  1. Or maybe the players fed to the AAA teams should stop sucking.  Only one trip to the playoffs since 1998?  Umm...wow.  I guess the Nats' farm system was worse than we thought.  (Also it helps if maybe local folks actually care about your MLB parent.)  Granted the Chiefs are locally/community owned, so they're probably safe.

Baylor is a hypocritical college.  They make it difficult for their agnostic and atheist students - a nephew received his Bachelors and Masters in Science from the school but was constantly being harassed by students and officials for his refusal to attend "Christian" and Bible study courses - yet they allow the sexual assaults on women.

To further add, employment/even getting an interview is conditional upon filling out an affidavit of faith.

If I were betting, UCF gets in just to try to tap into the Florida market. Both for television and for recruits. Much easier to tell a Florida kid that if you play in Kansas you'll be in Florida once or twice in a four year career where it's easy for friends or family to see you play as a bargaining chip.

I seriously doubt Houston unless that's something Texas wants to keep an in-state rival in the league and help tap into the Houston market with their Longhorn network if there's little coverage there.

Downside of UCF is that it may not help tap into the Florida market that much and the Florida market is a helluvalot out of the way for the rest of the conference.

So the Pirates leave two years into a five-year lease that included a $34 million renovation that the citizens of the county still have to pay off... without a tenant to actually use the arena.

Welp... Good job with all this, AHL.

I assume the local D-League team may have just found a new home.

A friend of mine is a hardcore MGTOW (google it, it's awkard), so whenever I post something about women in the news in a positive light, he'll call me a "beta" and it's remarkably uncomfortable.

So unemployed and heavily dependent on government handouts?

    It becomes a playoff issue.

    It won't.

Especially when the playoffs are formated by division.

Like they were in the 1980s.  With 21 teams.

Then the number of games has to be reworked to get all 82 games against every opponent at home and on the road,

Difficult, yes, but not impossible to format.

not to mention, one division will have an extra team meaning a playoff spot is even harder to get...

Actually, one division will have one team fewer compared to the other 3, but it doesn't matter because nobody in the Lester Patrick division complained in the 1980s (which everyone forgets).

Don't get me wrong, only expanding to Vegas is stupid, just not for these reasons.

Why isn't geographical proximity an issue for NHL and AHL affiliates in the ECHL?

The Missouri Mavs are affiliated with Bridgeport (Connecticut) in the AHL and the New York Islanders in the NHL.

Were the Mavs chosen as the Islanders' ECHL affiliate purely because they share the same color scheme?

    Link to ECHL/NHL/AHL affiliation table

Because the ECHL still is only a kind of/sort of developmental league.  It depends on the individual organization.

Anyone remember when the "Russian Penguins" and the "Soviet Wings" played every team in the IHL for a season? That's common practice in the Slovak elite league and the "Russian AHL" (the "VHL") in which the national junior teams play every other team and the points count in the standings.

So because the 1990s IHL (itself hardly a model of sound league-wide decision making) decided to incorporate a national traveling team that played exhibitions against all league member into the standings, suddenly this justifies the AHL having an entire division operate under different rules?

I assume the reason why the California teams were granted a 68-game regular season and a PPG-based playoff format was because the other teams in the AHL didn't want to play in California just as much as the California teams didn't want to play outside of California.

Otherwise, why would the AHL have given the California teams everything they asked for?

Because the AHL historically never says no to NHL demands, no matter how ridiculous.

  10. Admittedly I gave on following this circus. I just thought the eye roll over EA's decision was ridiculous. They have to worry about their own asses and were in no way contractually obligated to have Kane on there in the first place so removing him really wasn't a big deal.

So just accuse a person of something, then sit back and enjoy how that person loses everything, without being found guilty ? Your co worker or neighbour could be plotting stuff right now . America :censored: yeah !

Well, Mr. Almighty, does the story of one "Job" come to mind?

  11. Also, why in the blue hell is Peoria still in that league?

Pure dumbassery. They should have been trying to get an ECHL team for at least the last year.

That I agree with. The ECHL wants to have 30 teams so that every NHL team has an AHL affiliate and a ECHL affiliate. Peoria would perfect for the league.

The Blues don't have an affiliate, but I'm not exactly sure the Peoria Civic Center wants to do business with the Blues right now (assuming the current Blues regime even gave a :censored: about player development, which LOL the Wolves are your AHL team).

That said, making a play for the Blackhawks in order to tap into the Bradley students seems to be a reasonable strategy.
