  1. When it comes to football helmets. Glossy > Matte > Metallic With the exception of silver and gold, I think metallic painted helmets suck
  2. IMO only professional athletes should have their names on the back of their uniforms. I don't care how much money a university makes off it's athletes. Or how much many boosters give college players under the table. They are still amateur athletes. Once the government starts taxing the income you make playing a sport then (and only then) should you be given the privelge of having your name on the back of your jersey. Same applies to high school and youth sports. Names off!
  3. Soccer leagues should mandate that players shoes/cleats be in the same color as the team uniform. Shoes are parts of the uniform. If your team wears black & red uniforms, you better damn well have on black & red shoes. Not green, orange, blue, or yellow! I find it hard to belive that soccer cleat/shoe manufacturers are unable to make their product in the specific team colors. IMO, there is no excuse for that in professional athletics.
  4. bzzzt I know what he's trying to say about Nationals Park and Marlins Park, though. They do just sound like mere placeholders. You'd expect such massive and modern structures to have names of their own, not just "(Team Name) Park," especially considering these massive engines of commerce aren't terribly parklike. Yankee Stadium works because we're used to it Pretty much that. If it weren't for the Baltimore Orioles playing in Camden Yards, I would love for Nationals Park to be renamed Navy Yard Stadium.
  5. I dislike "team name" stadiums (ie Nationals Park, Marlins Park). Either give your stadium/arena a proper name, or sell the naming rights for some $$$$.
  6. Pitt's paid the 7.5 million to leave early too.
  7. What did the Southwest Conference do? Uhhhmmmm..... become the Big XII???
  8. What's the B1G most likely to do if Penn State receives the death penalty replace them with Pitt go back to 11 teams give Notre Dame anything they want (keep NBC home game deal) to join conference other
  9. Waiting to see if they need to be subbed in for Penn State presumably. Is it a real possibility that Penn State could get the death penalty for the Sandusky cover up? If so, wouldn't that F up the B1G since a conference needs 12 teams in order to hold a championship game?
  10. I agree, but money talks and with schools like Oregon and Maryland, those alternates sell. Maryland's alts sure didn't bring in enough money to help save several athletic programs from being cut recently.
  11. I'd like to see the NBA, MLB, and NCAA adopt a strict uniform policy similar to the NFL. Honestly how many alternate uniforms does a team need? It's a ridiculous money making ploy. I'd like to see teams limited to one alternate unifom, which could only be worn a certain number of times per year.
  12. I like the use of colored jerseys in MLB, yet hate matchups that are color vs color. Guess years of watching pro sports won't allow me to except color vs color matchups at the pro level (except for Lakers home games). Somebody has to wear white (or in the case of MLB gray).
  13. It's too bad that's an unpopular opinion, but it'll never be changed. Money talks. I don't know about that. I think it could happen if someone high up in the NCAA had the balls to enforce it. If the NFL can do it, so can NCAA. Just think of how much money the NFL could make if they had no uniform restrictions. The suits in the NFL front office know it, but they still won't allow it. I'm hoping this is just a fad that passes in the near future. I can't take a team seriously if they don't have a single look they I can easily identify.
  14. The Boise State Bronco head logo looks better than the Denver Bronco's logo. And yes, I'm very aware that Boise's logo is based heavily on Denver's. IMO they improved upon it. The UAB dragon logo is underrated. The amount of special uniforms, and multiple combinations in college football is getting out of hand. The NCAA needs to enforce a uniform policy. At the very least, teams should to be limited to one godamn helmet.
  15. The Cleveland Browns should have never ditched the brown pants.
  16. As a long time ACC fan, I hate this news. Money rules the world I suppose.
  17. Sure has been alot of 1AA/FCS schools moving up to 1A/FBS recently. I thought the NCAA placed some sort of freeze on schools being able to move up recently.
  18. Saw a quick segment on ESPN where the president of Florida State listed some pros and cons of staying in the ACC or joing the Big XII. Can't find a link at the moment, but honestly staying in the ACC sounds like a better bet. The FSU president made it seem like the Texas Longhorns own the friggin Big XII. Looking for link BRB
  19. (sigh) Why can't things just stay the same? Change isn't always good.
  20. The LA Lakers white unis are cool. Every non-Lakers yellow uni in the NBA is lame.
  21. I gotta be honest, every time I see an Idaho home game on TV (mostly clips). It has the feel of watching an FCS game. Something about the Vandals seems like they don't belong at the highest division. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's the success and popularity of Boise State that makes them look minor in comparison.
  22. The WAC is in bad shape. 5 years from now they may no longer be a football conference if this keeps up.
  23. I like the potential of a GA State vs GA Southern rivalry.
  24. It better a 16 team playoff (11 conference champs & 5 at large bids) ran by the NCAA, with the only neutral site game being the championship. Leaving bowl games to act as an NIT for football (for teams with WINNING records, no more .500 teams getting rewarded). If you're gonna do a playoff, don't pussyfoot around with it. Jump right in. 16 team playoff is better than a "Plus One". FBS schools have the resources (money) in place to handle an additional 4 to 6 weeks of extra football. Lower division schools have been making it work for years now working with less resources. Plus limiting a playoff to 16 leaves plenty of quality team to play in the bowl games. That's just my 2 cents on the matter.
