  1. I don't understand the criticism of the timeout. It was with four seconds left on the playclock and less than 40 left on the game clock. It had zero impact on the actual clock situation. The Raiders would have run a play with 34 or more seconds left on the clock regardless and, given the Chargers porous run defense, probably would have had the same result. People are acting like the clock would have run down to zero if not for the timeout. Letting the clock run down under 40 and taking a timeout was the obvious decision.
  2. I'm sure there's some seeding impact but going for the tie was a dumb decision. All you do is introduce risk.
  3. Herbert is unreal! Pretty sure everybody outside of Pittsburgh wants a tie.
  4. LeBron had a pretty good post or quote about it saying just that... especially since the player he thought was his father played for Washington. Still willing to chalk it up to the guy just not doing his job well, but who knows.
  5. I'm not sure this was an intentional eff up, but man... what an eff up. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/nba-announcer-sorry-insensitive-comments-kevin-porter-jrs-dad-blames-m-rcna11228 Consor says he thought Kevin Porter Jr. was the son of a former Washington player, Kevin Porter.
  6. Speaking of Antonio Brown, he also called out Alex Guerrero, Tom Brady's trainer, for... being completely accommodating? Really can't wait til this guy goes away.
  7. Bengals win the AFC North on another Evan McPherson game winner.
  8. They drafted Trask. Love the kid but even I don't think that's much of a plan, though.
  9. They hired a guy who has a history of health problems popping up whenever things get difficult to coach the Jacksonville Jaguars, which is never not difficult. All to gain additional support from a fanbase that doesn't even like the guy.
  10. He did a two-year LDS mission between high school and college and was at BYU for five years, so he was three or four years older than most players entering the NFL.
  11. It's a set price. You can't sell or trade it. It's basically just being able to say you own part of an NFL team with a few other perks. No dividends or anything.
  12. Seems like Mahomes was more willing to take what the defense gave him. They looked good! I really like Darrel Williams and it's a shame he's going to have to cede the top spot to CEH because he doesn't always look great running the ball but he does a lot of things really well. I also think CEH is a bit overrated. The Raiders waste Waller so much. They need to be more creative with how they use him and get him open.
  13. The penalty was for taunting, no? It was still a ridiculous call and I'm not convinced it wasn't because of the contact, though. Yeah, this guy needs to be fired. Jfc... he's taunting the guy he's penalizing for taunting. Unreal.
  14. I did the Richard Petty ride-along thing at Daytona a few years back and they apparently go 165 mph... but obviously on a closed track designed for those high speeds and faster. I was just in a sort of passenger seat. I can't even comprehend actually driving a car that fast on a track, let alone through a city.
  15. Ruggs was driving 156 MPH at twice the legal limit. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32543330/henry-ruggs-iii-drove-156-mph-seconds-fatal-car-crash-prosecutors-say
  16. The latter. Honestly, I just don’t think Mayfield's particularly good. Actually, I think he's really bad. When the Browns scored 40+ against LAC and OBJ only had three targets, John Kosko of PFF tweeted that him and Davante Adams get open ~72% of the time on routes 5+ yards downfield. And here's the All-22.
  17. With Stallworth's case, the victim was jaywalking across a busy street. That doesn't excuse Stallworth driving drunk, but: https://www.google.com/amp/s/sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/jc-stallworth052109.html I'm no lawyer but I imagine a good one could've gotten him out of the manslaughter charge had it gone to trial.
  18. Henry Ruggs involved in a fatal car crash. Charged with a DUI. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32534609/las-vegas-raiders-wr-henry-ruggs-charged-dui-resulting-death
  19. Von's still on pace for 10 or 11 sacks. He's not the force he used to be but he's still good and still demands attention, which now you can't give him with Aaron Donald. Good move for LAR. Regarding the MNF game... I think the Chiefs are broken.
  20. It was inevitable. That usage is unsustainable. He had 29 carries in a blowout of KC! They were up 27 at halftime of that game and still running their MVP RB into the ground in the 4th quarter. The Colts are on the other end of the spectrum. Once Taylor hits a certain number of touches they ignore him and let Wentz lose the game for them.
  21. Of course the Bengals lose to the Jets and their backup QB as soon as everybody starts singing their praise.
  22. They went for two because mathematically it's the smart thing to do and football coaches are finally becoming less risk averse. Scoring 14 to tie isn't the goal, scoring 15+ to win is the goal. 2 pt conversions are successfully converted about 50% of the time, so the likelihood of getting stopped on two 2 pt conversions and losing in regulation is about 25%. The probability of converting on the first 2 pt conversion, as Philly did, is close to 50%. The probability of missing the first and converting the second is around 25%. So 50% of the time you're kicking an XP after your second TD to win and 25% you're going to OT.
  23. If I were dying and my only chance of survival was getting life saving treatment on the other side of that bridge on a Thursday night, I'd have to think about it. They have the lowest population within 30 minutes of the stadium in the league and the team that has the second lowest has 2x as many people. There's also, as you can imagine, a direct correlation between that and attendance. Particularly weeknight attendance.
  24. Don't know how anybody can look at the Lightning and not realize that if you gave the Rays a stadium that wasn't a pain in the dick to get to and an owner that was halfway likeable, people would show up.
