  1. He’s some hack, dart-throwing gambler/engagement farmer on Twitter. Kind of unrelated to the faux outrage he’s always peddling, but I remember LeBatard making fun of him for going 1-15 on his picks one week.
  2. This is such a nothing story. Warren Sharp is a joke. Teams with a better record are 11-3 in games this guy officiated. He's averaged a whopping .7 more penalties called on home teams in games he's officiated this season. That's not swaying anything. Shame on anyone that believes the NFL has an official they call in when they need the road team to win and shame on you for spreading Warren Sharp's nonsense.
  3. What’s interesting is the Lions took over with 1:30 left or so, which is enough to run the clock down whether TB took their timeout or not. They snapped the ball in a way that TB could use their timeout and conceivably get the ball back but, obviously, TB didn’t. I tend to agree with the idea there was a gentleman’s agreement of some sort to just get it over with. Or the Lions botched the timing and Bowles is a good sport. edit: this might’ve been covered. I don’t think I read back far enough. double edit: I guess Campbell spoke about it already and said he messed up but also he could tell TB wasn’t going to call a timeout.
  4. I hope Bass doesn't take that one too hard since there's zero chance Mahomes wasn't driving KC down for the winner anyway.
  5. The worst rule in sports but that looked like it was a fumble to me.
  6. Shame for GB. They’ve been playing good football and had a real chance. Wouldn’t have been my first choice winner but winning in the first year after Rodgers would’ve been pretty funny.
  7. I think it’s a great hire for Alabama. I’ve thought about DeBoer as a candidate for Florida in a hypothetical where Napier gets fired this season but would be nervous he doesn’t have any ties to the southeast. I think that’s way less of an issue with taking over Saban’s infrastructure. Unfortunately, I think Washington might be in trouble going forward.
  8. I would be surprised if he’s a target. Top of the list would be Dan Lanning, I think. Oregon has lost their coach so many times they’ll probably throw a ton of money at him to keep him, though.
  9. Don’t think the NCAA is going to have the balls to vacate it like they should. Harbaugh might leave for the NFL and it won’t matter anyway but he should surely get a show cause.
  10. Cool, cool. So which is it -- is Brock Purdy the most valuable player or can he not keep the 49ers offense rolling without McCaffrey and Deebo? Is McCaffrey the MVP or would the offense suck with Sam Darnold?
  11. Just you having Brock and CMC being interchangeable as far as which could/should win the award make it pretty clear that neither of them are the most valuable player. You could make a pretty good case that the 49ers offense would still go without either player in part because of the other one. That's not the case for Baltimore. You can spin that BAL/SF game however you want but biggest matchup of the season and Lamar showed up, Brock did not.
  12. Can't say I've ever seen this before. Saints score a TD from the "victory formation." Apparently, the players overruled Dennis Allen's instructions to kneel it to get Jamaal Williams a TD.
  13. I think Richardson can be very good, especially with a coach that can plan around his weaknesses like it looks like the Colts coach did with Hurts… but Richardson’s problem is he’s made of glass. He got hurt dancing in his hotel room when he was at Florida, iirc.
  14. Total Yards would be passing and rushing. Brock Glenn - 130 yards Jalen Milroe - 179 yards Milroe completed 70% of his passes, Glenn completed 35%. And actually, if CFB didn’t stupidly count sacks against a QBs rush total, Milroe would have 228 total yards to Glenn’s 144.
  15. Thank you, DeBoer, for turning a relatively ho hum win into an instant classic.
  16. This game should be over but DeBoer played it in the dumbest possible way between throwing it on that third down of their second-to-last possession and not just kneeling it on their last one.
  17. Washington is impressive. They had that big win against Oregon before stumbling through some conference games (ASU and Stanford) and I thought it was a near certainty that Oregon would get them the next time around, which they obviously didn't. I feel like either of these teams would struggle with Michigan but I'm actually not sure about Washington anymore. If there was a 12 team playoff, there's a realistic chance I'd have had to make this decision in a playoff game (either FSU or Georgia vs Liberty). My rooting interests would be 1. Meteor 2. Liberty. Thank god the alliance voted against expanding the playoff this year and saved me from that.
  18. I may have liked this comment prematurely.
  19. The other thing to note is that you can’t report for another player. So 68 has to be reporting himself. Just a huge mistake by the ref. Pretty sure this crew did that controversial Chiefs game a few weeks back. Would there not be audio of this? Seems like everything is mic’d these days.
  20. I mean, you say that but the play worked. Maybe Dallas should have recognized that the receiver was off the line and #68 was in an eligible position but they were still late to cover him. The official’s mistake would be halfway understandable if he said Sewell reported instead of the guy who didn’t actually talk to him. And then there’s the fact that Campbell talked to the officials about this specific play and how they would run it if this situation came up before the game. The Lions did everything right on this play. They shoulder zero blame here.
  21. Actually a pretty brilliant play by the Lions if the officials didn’t completely screw it up. I imagine they’re trying to confuse Dallas into hearing the number end with an 8 and thinking it’s that Sewell is reporting eligible. #70 pretty clearly never talks to the official as the official is walking away before he even gets there. The thing that still doesn’t make sense is that if they believed #68 to be ineligible, it should have immediately been flagged as an illegal formation since the last guy on the line has to be eligible and #68 has to report to be eligible. But they didn’t.
  22. First penalty bumped it back to the 7 yard line, but since the offsides penalty happened inside the 10, it's only enforced half the distance to the goal. It looks an awful lot like the officials messed the reporting up and the Lions got screwed and the official in the booth said it was an illegal formation because he's uncovered but if he reports, he has to be uncovered. edit: Actually, I believe if the refs thought #68 wasn't eligible, they should have immediately thrown a flag for an illegal formation when the ball was snapped, but didn't. So why didn't they do that?
  23. Opt outs are only relevant when it's not an SEC team's players opting out. Otherwise it's just the SEC whining and making excuses. Doesn't hold much water when Georgia brings in the freshmen at halftime and continues the drubbing. Biggest blowout in bowl game history and Georgia could've put another 30 on them if they cared to.
  24. Don’t care who was out for Florida State, they look like a mid-tier FCS team right now against Georgia. Embarrassing efffort that probably doesn’t bode well for their 2024 team.
