  1. Maybe this is common knowledge and I just missed it, but Arizona's number font is the same as the old one except all of the rounded edges have been squared off. And just that subtle difference makes it look so much better.

  2. Florida is one of the teams where mix and match actually works with their identity. It's a shame we won't see much orange at all. The Gators need to dump the black uniforms from their brand entirely IMO and stick with blue and orange. O/B/O and O/W/O are both awesome combos that deserve some time in the spotlight.

Last year Week 9 was the final WAH game for them. Hopefully they transition to green (and black) for the second half of the season again this year. We do know they are wearing black for the Black Friday game, but there's still Week 13 vs. ATL, Week 14 vs. HOU, and Week 16 vs. WAS that will hopefully have them in green.

Cleveland is going WAH in week 17 as well, so the Jets will have to wear green for that.

The Packers just announced their opening day roster in an infographic on instagram. Apparently they didn't assign punter Daniel Whelan a new number and are letting him wear #41.

I tried to think of another time I saw a punter wear a number higher than 19. I had to go back to the early 80s  when Bob Parsons wore 86 for the Bears in the and with Pat McInaly for the Bengals who wore 87. But IIRC, they were the last of the guys who played other positions and became the defacto punter. Has a true punting specialist ever worn a number that high?

FWIW, the Patriots drafted a punter who wore 99 in college. He has to change his number in the next few weeks and 99 may be available, so he may set a new high score here.

They have worn white pants on grass several times, but not often. Such a weird excuse for a professional football organization with top-of-the-line equipment management staff. No other teams seem to have this issue.

I don't think it's an excuse, they're probably just trying to make life a little easier for their staff. I could definitely see them wearing the white pants at home more often this year. Didn't realize they had a new field and was totally thrown off when I put the game on last Friday.

    Grass is far superior aesthetically.

  6. I actually really like the metallic silver stripes on the sleeve. I think the uniform would look a lot better with numbers on the shoulders and some solid red socks.

This looks so much better. Some more red on the uniform makes the splash of silver pop nicely without the primary color getting totally washed out.

I think they took some influence in making the Commanders uniforms. The gold numbers outlined in white seemed a reference to me.

This with stripes on the pants would be a great basis for the new identity if they really felt they needed to lean into the military and stencil stuff. Do a color swap on the road, and that's a good set.

  8. Hey everyone! Thanks for the feedback. Updating this with a slightly different template including sleeves and gloves to get an idea of what accessories would be worn with each uniform. I'm also going to just be doing two uniforms for each team, home and road only. I'm doing this to force myself to declare the best combinations for each team. I may come back and do alternates later, but, for now, I'm keeping it simple to give my creativity some constraints.

Here's Seattle in the new look:

The players would wear navy sleeves at home and either navy or white on the road with action green gloves.

    Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have a good but muddled look right now. Balancing black and purple together is tough since the two can blend from a distance. I fixed the problem by separating the colors entirely. This new identity features a plain black helmet and socks paired with jerseys and pants that prominently feature purple and gold. The current font is replaced by a blockier gothic one with a metallic gold drop shadow.

    Tennessee Titans

The Titans are going back in time with this look. Out are the dull navy and grey, in are Columbia blue and a pop of red. I adjusted the old number font to make it thicker with more even weighting and widened the old shoulder yolk. Add red accessories to the mix, and you've got a bright and colorful mix that stands out in the league.

  9. The Bruins are unveiling new uniforms for the centennial season on September 16.

    Quote

The celebration will commence Saturday, September 16 with the Boston Bruins Centennial Takeoff, a fashion-show style event where fans in attendance will be the first to see the club's all-new Centennial jerseys and merchandise collection in an exclusive setting inside the jetBlue hangar at Logan Airport.

    Quote

In partnership with adidas and the NHL, the Boston Bruins developed three new uniforms that will be introduced and worn in the Centennial year. These new uniforms include both home and away sweaters, as well as an alternate intended to be worn against Original Six opponents and on special occasions.

    Here's the full centennial site.

It really doesn’t make any sense. It’s dumb point blank.

They're taking one thing in Denver known for being white at the top (snowcapped mountains) and using the same terminology for a uniform that will also only be white at the top. That does make sense.

Why do the Broncos insist on calling their new alternate helmet “snow capped”?

White. The word you’re looking for is white.

It's because the white is at the top like a snowcapped mountain. Dumb marketing speak, yes, but it also makes a degree of sense.

No plain white socks (I don't care how icily clean they are), no white socks with dark jerseys. I'd throw that in there too. Never liked that about the old Pats and Eagles uniforms.

Yeah, I thought Matt Judon made these uniforms look better last year.

Matthew Judon was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

As a general rule, the socks should always match either the helmet or the jersey. In rare cases, they can match the jersey numbers. So, no matter what, they should match some big color block from above the waist.

  13. Forcing a team to wear a separate all-white uniform instead of the primary one with the white helmet seems like a totally arbitrary place to draw the line. Seems obvious to me that if the Bengals are allowed to have a white-out look, they shouldn't be forced to wear a completely different white uniform than the one they wear most games.

I feel like the real solution to the whole alternate helmets/alternate uniforms thing is just to put a cap on the number of different combinations a team can wear in a season. Limit teams to like four or five different uniform sets from head to toe and you probably won't have any issues. The teams that want their alternate helmets can get them, and you won't have teams going crazy with the number of mix and match options they have. Teams have to designate primary dark and light combinations and all others can be worn a max of three games like now.

Not even on Christmas and only TWO games and not THREE.

Who the hell runs these uniform schedules that teams have? They're all so disjointed. The Bucs, Vikings and Eagles all have really beloved throwbacks and they're not maxing out the usage and against bad matchups too because... reasons?

I'm guessing this means we still get the all-black uniforms with the midnight green helmets for a game. The Eagles have worn black against the Giants every season since 2014 except for 2017, and that game is a standalone game on Christmas this year. Feels like we can at least pencil that in as the black-out game for Philly.
