  1. Good. That was actually a Xenith helmet, and it looked ridiculous. Weird how a change like this can make me take him more seriously now (even though he has been a very good football player).
  2. Plenty of room on the Texans helmet for a stripe. I don’t know if it’s the answer, but there’s certainly room.
  3. I love it the jersey & pants completely. Helmet & socks I do not. The socks, at least, need to be Navy. Add a White & Red stripe to the helmet and a little star in back like, similar to the pant, and you’ve got it.
  4. You guys are beating my drum.
  5. Black with Purple Metallic fleck, speck, whatever it’s called makes perfect sense for them. Just removing the stripe does wonders.
  6. You know, if they introduced an alternate helmet, the above concept would be a way they could revive those Gold pants. Maybe put a Mustard facemask on this baby with a Black stripe down the middle…or something.
  7. Yes, removing Black does make this more balanced. Good exercise in theory. With Black being an essential component of the Ravens identity, and its inclusion making it a separate color scheme from the Vikings, it doesn’t quite solve the issue of how to make those pants work with the Ravens existing helmet & jersey. I think if they wore the Color Rush jersey, with the Gold numbers matching the pant, and then wore alternate helmet decals - a Gold outline on the logo, and Purple & Gold stripes - it could be enough to bring it together. EDIT: the logo already has a Metallic Gold outline. Maybe for this Alt idea, it’s more Mustard. Man, I’m not sure if we’re more crazy or more bored Also, regarding the balance of those Washington uniforms: I think that example works because the helmet & jersey are so plain. No jersey stripes or logos, no helmet logos, one-color white numbers…there’s nothing to compete with the Good pants. Simpler design like that makes it easier to have a contrasting color pant. When compared to the Ravens, who have a lot more going on in their helmet & jersey, it just doesn’t jive.
  8. Respectfully disagree. There’s just not enough Gold in the helmet or pant to make keep it balanced, regardless of what Gold it is.
  9. The name not being popular is a dubious position to take when it was only used for 2-3 years before the change was made after students rebelled via the student newspaper. Their enrollment their first year was like 1,900 students. 2,000 students, give or take, in 1970 should not have led a decision on the identity of a university. Regardless, it's been 50+ years, and it matters differently now than it did then. The university was founded to support space science and its slogan is "Reach For The Stars". It makes no sense that they are the Knights. It's not just about "sounds cool". It's about the entire reason why the university was created in the first place and what makes it unique. Using the best name & colors to promote the institution so that it grows & remains viable just makes too much sense. Yes, I get that most university identities aren't tied to their founding or mission; Penn State wasn't founded to study mountain lions nor was Florida to study alligators. But that's what makes UCF's opportunity so unique: they actually CAN build an identity that's not just "cool" or whatever the student body voted for, but it's actually their real identity. That's what would make the brand impact so powerful. With the world on the precipice of space tourism, amongst other things space-related that will have worldwide impact (warfare, technology disclosure), they could stand out from the crowd by embracing "Space U". Or, they can go on being medievel knights in armor. Maybe they can start offering a Jousting major. It would just be better business for them to evolve into the Citronauts and it makes sense from a brand story perspective, way more than Knights does. I'm stopping now; I'm just beating a dead pegasus.
  10. Yep - it can certainly work and is beautiful color paired with Purple & Black, it just couldn't be executed well with the existing Ravens helmet & jersey.
  11. On their own, I don't hate the pant at all. Scroll up so that your screen only shows Juszczyk's lower half and not the jersey/helmet; these colors, when balanced, could make for a really nice identity. In conjunction with the rest of the uniform? Yeah, doesn't work at all. Abysmal. The jersey would have to have Mustard numbers and there'd need to be more Mustard on the helmet somehow. I thought it could work with their Color Rush jersey but I think those numbers are more Metallic Gold than Mustard and there still wouldn't be enough to balance it.
  12. White pants with the Purple jersey and Purple pants with the White jersey, with the occasional swap of White/White and Purple/Purple to make the players/young fans happy. That's what they should wear, and only what they should wear, until they do a redesign: That means no more of this: In most ways, I don't hate the Black over Purple, but with no coordinating helmet/pant stripe, it looks off. It's one of those rare instances where a solid, stripeless pant would work better. Or, if they kept it, but updated the helmet to get rid of the 90's pointed shards and gave themselves a traditional 3-stripe, it could be their best look.
  13. Additionally, as most here know, Citronaut was their first mascot and used for just a year, but it was created to combine what Central Florida was known for: citrus and the space program. FTU was founded literally to support NASA. So, it makes way more sense for that to be the school’s identity, rather than Golden Knights, which has no relevance to Central FL history or culture, yesterday or today.
  14. It doesn’t matter what opposing fans think about it; what matters is whether the brand sells. And Citronauts is a far better brand than Golden Knights, as far as how it can be marketed & sold on a national level. It’s not like the UCF Golden Knights are some longstanding athletics icon with tremendous tradition & history; and they’re what, maybe the 5th most popular college in Florida? If you want to establish the university as a national powerhouse, you’re already competing with 3-4 major in-state institutions, with Florida, Florida State, and Miami being household names, so if they want to be in contention with, or bigger than, those names, they need to do more. Golden Knights, wearing Black & Vegas Gold, is not going to create the excitement and interest locally and nationally like a change to the Citronaut brand, with “Space U” and Neon Blue, would. It’s a completely unique identity that they can own and can help them truly establish themselves and grow even larger than they’ve become in the last decade or so. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.
  15. The Ravens should retire the Black pants permanently if they haven’t already.
  16. They’ll look like they forgot a 1/3 of their uniform. No bare legs in the NFL.
  17. It was the perfect time to rebrand, and it makes much more sense than Knights does in regards to the current state of space exploration and the academic identity of the university and its relation to that industry locally. "Space U" is a very cool nickname and identity to embrace. On top of that, the whole medieval gimmick with Black, Grey, and Metallic Gold Knights do not feel like Florida at all. Maybe if the university was in Saint Augustine, it would almost make sense, but not Orlando or really anywhere in FL. Switching from the Metallic Gold to the Citronaut Blue would've electrified the brand, no pun intended, and introduced a really unique & identifiable brand into collegiate sports: I still hope it happens eventually. I'm on the other side of town, but is anyone here an alum and/or connected to UCF? Have there been any serious discussions or efforts to make a change to Citronauts?
  18. I'd be sad for the Bearcats, trotting out there in a stock high school uniform. Wouldn't surprise me if this was the option presented to them, though, knowing BSN.
  19. I heard. It'd be really embarrassing for Cincinnati to not be in that template, or at least the Vapor Untouchable, but either would have to come from Nike stepping in and making that happen. With the deal being announced so late, I'd be shocked if they can pull that off though, unless this was unofficially agreed upon months & months ago and the orders were already placed. I could probably find out.
  20. That’s a dog:censored: look.
  21. I retained a trademark attorney earlier this year to begin the process and he told me it now takes 18 months from filing date. Gotta love the efficiency of the federal government.
  22. Boy I disagree with you guys calling the Texans look “done” and “timeless”. It’s boring, bland, not cohesive, and the color balance is all out of whack when they use the Red-dominant jersey or helmet. To each their own. I think their brand will thrive with the change, because the current look isn’t - and never was - exciting.
  23. Personally, I hate it...as it stands. It's just boring and bland with a stock finish, matching color mask and no stripe. Even just adding a Red stripe would really help it, like Ole Miss does it: If they went with a satin or anodized finish, a Red facemask, and added a well-executed stripe - my suggestion earlier was to make the stripe half Red, half White, ending a few inches up from the back bottom so you could punctuate it with a single star, ala the Texas flag - it would be great. I referenced the AAF promo helmet previously: Otherwise, I'm on Team White Helmet. As @WSU151 suggested above, a Red mask would be a nice homage to the Oilers, but a Navy mask would would great as well if the stripe is done right. Auburn gives us a look at how things could be: I think the team ultimately will not choose to use White helmets, with the Colts in the division along with the Titans and the Oilers throwbacks now being in play. Which means I think we either get a new Navy helmet or, sadly, the Red helmet.
  24. I'm completely down with a White helmet and adding a stripe does it for me. The jersey is a no for me, though. Anything with piping is automatically dated. No good. And I think they're due for a fresh new font. I like the pants, although that swooshy line separating the Navy & Red isn't necessary; I know you were trying to tie in the jersey, but I made my points about that above. Just rolling with this helmet & fixed pant and a solid Navy jersey with a Red neckband & new font would be a really nice upgrade.
