  1. Okay, so THAT has to be Seattle...and I like it. Kelly Green + Lime Green + Yellow Gold. Sweet. That means what I thought was Seattle before with the Green + Navy + Orange is someone else. New York? Although Royal/White/Silver would be a viable New York scheme, even though it's just a Red short of being the Giants. Hopefully in 24 hours we'll know. I do like that
  2. Almost exactly what I said, except I don’t think there’s any way that LA is not Silver & Black and Orange/Red/Black HAS to be Tampa. Also no Royal Blue yet. Royal & Yellow-Gold would be Rams-ish in St Louis. NY seems to be the wild card and with McMahon being an NYC guy, I doubt he goes Purple. Vegas/Metallic Gold + another color? I really don’t have a guess. I hope they don’t use Maroon or Cardinal at all...horrific. I could live with a Brown if well done. Fun to speculate and will be interesting to see how these end up. I’d imagine we get full logos on Tuesday, as someone else said.
  3. Seattle Dragons: looks like 2 shades of Green + Navy + a little Orange. That could get a little 90’s ish. Tampa ?: they just went and matched the Bucs. Odd, but makes some sense. I was hoping for Tennessee/Creamsicle Orange + Black + Gray, similar to what Oklahoma State used to do. The Red is just too much.
  4. I can’t wait to see the whole reveal for the Carolina Blue/Red/Black team...based on that combo alone, that might be the team I throw my support to. I’m in Orlando, so I’m secretly hoping it’s Tampa, but realistically it has to be Houston. Early, early predictions: Dallas: Red or Crimson/White Houston: Light Blue/Red/Black Los Angeles: Silver & Black New York: Seattle: St Louis: Tampa: Washington, DC: Red/White/Navy/Grey Red in 3 team brands already; I’d expect to see some Orange for Tampa, Yellow/Gold in St Louis, Green in Seattle and who the hell knows for New York...though I was hoping for a Black/Grey/Charcoal/Yellow-Gold “Gotham City” setup.
  5. So...no one gon’ mention this drop today?
  6. Classic example of a small Division I that wants to be a big Division I blowing huge money on a "design firm" that has no experience in the actual production of this product. Those aren't even the real basketball uniforms...really, no different than any concept poster here, except that Duquesne paid them a ton of money. Nike didn't have their hands on this, and neither did the Nike dealer that the university uses.
  7. I work with many many schools with varied color combos and have some subjective feedback to your color scheme recommendations: NY: Royal/Black/Grey. Very dark & drab with no pop. I cringe when I run into a school with these colors, as they are difficult to make look good. This scheme would work well for another team if you replaced Royal with any light/bright color, such as Columbia Blue, or Pink as you suggested for LA. North Carolina has done some Grey uniforms and that could be a nice fit for NY. New York is pretty grey & gritty though, so perhaps they do get the Black/Grey treatment. I would be open to a Navy/Black/Gold (WVU) or a Black/Grey/Gold (Army Black Knights) here. DC: Purple/Vegas. Doesn't really relate to anything DC or "Power", and is the same scheme as the failed AAF Atlanta team; I doubt the XFL would copy one of their teams' color schemes to avoid confusion. As much as it is cliche, I'd be shocked if we didn't get a Navy/Red/Grey or White scheme here, knowing McMahon. And honestly, it does make sense. It would fill the vacuum of Navy/Red/Grey that the Patriots' Reebok-designed uniform leaves: the absence of a great pro or college football uniform that uses those 3 colors (outside of Ole Miss). TB: Teal/Black/Vegas Gold? You mean the Jacksonville Jaguars colors, on the other side of the state? No way. There's a LOT of red in that stadium. I would not be surprised if we saw the old Creamsicle Orange return in some form. I think you're right that there could be a pirate-theme, unfortunately. They should look back to Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden-era Grey/White/Black/Orange combos for a great crossover look that's still unique. Pair Creamsicle with Light Grey and a little Black and you've got a winner. Halloween colors? Call'em the Tampa Bay Spirits. Give'em that vibe. STL: Red/White/Blue. The AAF Memphis Express just used these colors a few hours away. Again, not sure if, outside of DC, that the XFL would choose to use a scheme so close to the failed AAF teams, especially for the only XFL team in the Midwest. DALLAS: Brown/Gold/Orange. Yeesh. This one would be tough to pull off because it's so dusty & drab. Which makes sense, if the identity is a western motif. No one in pro football uses the color Brown (EDIT: what a stupid oversight) and for good reason: it's not attractive. Wyoming is the only time it looks semi-decent. Perhaps a Grey/Brown/Gold combo could work; adding Grey b/c you can't just copy Wyoming (or copy their Grey unis from a few year's back, minus the digital camo). Perhaps we see Texas Orange/Black here? The Longhorns' practice unis look sweet, but that might be too close to home. HOUSTON: Navy/Red/Orange. You lost me at "flames". I would look for Light Blue & Red to make a return here...combined with Black, because XFL (and the need to differentiate enough from the Oilers, while calling back to that history). Which is an outstanding combo that I can't recall anyone ever using. Google "Black Houston Oilers" and see some of that hats that are out there for an example. SEA: Gold/Green/Brown. Love the Sasquatch suggestion. Hate the color scheme. Again, brown is tough. Maybe as a tertiary color mixed with Kelly. Kelly Green with Vegas Gold lettering could be a nice look, but with solid Brown numbering and a clean design, and this could be pretty unique, though potentially difficult to read. Still, it would look like they're either a bunch of park rangers, or Shaggy from Scooby Doo. Wild card? They do Green/Gold...ala the Seattle Supersonics. That'd be a smart win. "Seattle SuperSquatch". Kidding. Though "Seattle Squatch" could work...#getsquatched LA: Black/White/Pink. I think this is closer to what we'll see from some XFL teams. I fully expect a few to have bright colors - a bright, light blue; a neon green/yellow; and a hot pink could all find their way into designs. It's a new brand that needs to be distinct, and that's what bright colors do - they grab your attention. My namesake is the most visible color to the human eye. Nike isn't stupid with their use of Volt. The Florida Marlins' updated colors, or the Miami Heat Vice Nights uniforms could be a model, especially for a team like LA, if any. Fun game to play. Anxious to see what the XFL marketing team came up with.
  8. Winston Moss to be named HC of the LA team this afternoon. 7 down, 1 to go (Houston). Worth noting that only 3 of 32 NFL Head Coaches are African-American, and 1 is Latino, while 3/4 of the league is African-American. With Pep Hamilton, Jonathan Hayes, and now Winston Moss, 3/7 new XFL coaches are African-American. Worth keeping an eye on as they attempt to recruit players away from the NFL in the long run.
  9. With the XFL announcing their TV distribution model today - an impressive one, at that - one of the only things left to unveil are the final coaches (Houston & LA) and then the brand partner and team identities. So far, almost all of their moves have been well thought-out and well-received. Jeff Fisher is the rumored Houston coach, but we've not heard much on LA yet. Could they possibly bookend the 1st announcement of Bob Stoops with another big name at the end, to make up for the lackluster hires of Trestman, Zorn, Haynes and Gilbride? Lastly, is it fair to speculate now on potential uniform/licensing partners and potential color combinations? With UA out of sight in the Big 3, do they get back in the game with the XFL? Did the league wait to secure stadiums before finalizing team identities, so that they could align their colors with the stadiums they're playing in? There's a lot of red in at least 4 of these venues. If they nail it, they'll land on a mix of team identities that are distinct - some timeless, others retro, yet others futurisitic - and put the brands on gear fans want to wear. I still can't believe no trademark filings have leaked, or any indications at all. Anxiously waiting the reveals.
  10. Has anyone been able to track down XFL trademark filings? Surely they would've registered team names and domain names by now.
  11. Ren69 - I'm sorry for your loss. A good friend of mine just yesterday lost his father and I my grandmother this past fall. It's a part of life that rarely gets easier. I wish you comfort during this time. I also wanted to say that this thread...I just went through all 32 pages of it...might be the most fun thread I've seen on this forum. Your work is simply phenomenal! If you'd like something to take your mind off of life, or when you get back to doing this, I am interviewing for a head coaching position at my high school, and this is our vintage logo. I'd like to implement a complete logo/uniform change, going from black/yellow-gold/white to black/yellow-gold/grey. Feel free to try to make this outdated logo sleek, aggressive, and fun!
