  1. And yes....no football team in 2020 should have side panels on their jerseys, at any level. It's as bad as piping on a football jersey or pant. They just don't belong.
  2. You are correct, I didn't see the final result of that sale, only that the XFL wanted it in May. I think the Black on Black looks as basic and "stock" as anything could be after a White/Grey Facemask combo. They could've at least used a different finish in order to differentiate themselves from New York. They both have Gloss Black helmets with Black facemasks now. If you put these two pictures side-by-side in grayscale, you'd barely be able to tell the 2 teams apart, especially with how similar their number fonts are: Just really poor vision, planning and execution. They are about 1 color, 1 helmet stripe, a slight number font tweak, and a different logo away from being identical.
  3. These look like a super bush league high school now. The Orange mask at least gave it some sort of a custom, major league finish. My guess is they didn't have enough made and maybe they are ordering more. Instead of mixing & matching for the player helmets they had now, maybe they pulled the Black that they acquired from the AAF and are just using them temporarily. Hopefully the Orange mask returns but that custom paint can take a minute.
  4. Definite downgrade. I wonder if this is for practice only. The Orange mask at least made this much more of a unique helmet and minimized how horrific that stripe decal is.
  5. I work in custom uniforms, and the only restriction is typically numerical height, which is often governed by a governing body such as the NFHS or NCAA - they dictate minimum number sizes on uniforms (along with plenty of other things) and the manufacturers typically set their templates to those specs. Nike, for example, has a dozen or so number fonts, and the height will typically be 10" front numbers and 12" back, but the overall width of the number will vary by the actual font style; the over-popular Michigan State font, for example, is much wider than their Full Block font. I'm sure there are more general width specs, but these XFL numbers are really dainty and skinny. Someone super unimaginative did this (as can be confirmed by looking at the uniform design in general). As another poster just pointed out....not one team used traditional sleeve stripes, one of the most timeless and iconic football jersey elements they could've used. They avoided these on purpose.
  6. Agreed 100%. They should have Houston's helmet with a Black faceguard. Grey helmet, Black jersey, Grey pants would've been super good. Also would look great with the mono-grey away set.
  7. Looking at this again today, it irks me even more how similar all of the number fonts are. Amateur hour!
  8. You mean Reebok. See late 90’s, early 2000’s Patriots, Bills, Falcons, Cardinal, Bengals.
  9. I mean the cut, fabric, finish and details. Similar sublimated garments like this can be had for less than half this price at tons of places, from the local screen printer who has gotten into sublimation to tons of startup Facebook businesses subbing this stuff out. Looks very much like something that Alleson Athletic offers. I’m quite confident it’s not quite on par with even Nike’s Legend Jerseys if placed side-by-side. At least they have a jersey available. But I’m just shaking my head about the lack of partnership with a quality uniform & apparel manufacturer who could’ve provided better end results for the teams and fans on both.
  10. Quick Photoshops, but this is what Houston SHOULD have looked like, not Dallas. Would choose a bolder number font, i'm just using what 3-color font is currently available with Nike Team in their builder for illustration purposes. Ditto with team name font which ideally would match the logo wordmark if designed properly. Their helmet (current Dallas) is an absolute stunner so that would remain unchanged. If the logo was too much like the Oilers with this color scheme and needed to be avoided legally, I would've just kept the Renegade logo but put it here and have the Houston Renegades. On the Light Blue pants, there would be a solid Black side panel. On the White pants, there would be a solid Light Blue panel. A single, thin 1" red line could potentially be added to those side panels to give a unique pant stripe look and a bit more color pop on the pant and tie into the sleeve/sleeve band color balance.
  11. I disagree with you on most things, but on this, I do agree, as their uniform is fairly nice and it at least has a pertinent local connection. However, as far as national appeal goes, how many people know what DC's flag looks like? A "Red, White & Blue" team in DC would resonate with Americans across the country. If the league survives, they could take a competitive shot and call them the "real America's team". That'd be Vince-esque. Additionally, Red is the #1 color associated with socialist & communist movements. While that make sense for many swamp things in DC today, it's not what'd I'd choose (on its own) to represent a Washington, DC football team!
  12. Perhaps, but this should've been their logo, with either a White helmet or the satin Silver helmet that Houston is wearing, along with these uniforms:
  13. Another one that doesn't understand the power of athletic branding. Pairing with a brand manufacturer and utilizing their product & brand value provides perceived value to the company you are building. It's why every major athletic team in the nation, regardless of league or sport, all the way down to high school and even some middle schools, chooses to wear brand name uniforms & apparel. You know who doesn't? People who are cheap; rinky-dink, backwoods youth/AAU//bush league ventures; and people who just don't get the power of branding. Outside of the perceived value that the brand partnership brings, it also is a major boost to merchandise sales. The majority of the public is more inclined to buy a team apparel item if it's Nike, UA, or Adidas. They'll buy it, even at a higher cost, before Starter or Gildan or private label, because it's perceived to be more legitimate. Which is exactly what this league needs: legitimacy. Failure to partner with a known brand is a failure.
  14. I sell every major athletic & printable apparel brand on the planet, except for adidas & Riddell. Pretty sure I know what generic is.
  15. I want to fight whoever insisted on all of these custom number fonts. Also, looks like every team has 2-color numbers (not counting DC). None with 1-color. None with 3-color. All the same. So damn lazy. Someone fleeced the XFL on this job.
  16. Correct. This looks like one of those super dumb Wrestlemania football jerseys. It’s very obvious that they did not have athletic branding people on board...or at least not ones with a great vision that they could get through to Vince. sigh...I was excited for this. At least the Renegades helmet is great.
  17. Those number fonts are the absolute drizzlin’ :censored:s.
  18. Good god they even screwed up LA. RIP XFL 2.0
  19. It is so :censored:ing bush league. It’s like someone stopped watching football in 2003 and then was suddenly put in charge of designing these. Just awful.
  20. White helmet isn’t bad. The rest is an absolute debacle. They sure blew it. I really want to know who was behind these designs.
  21. Really a shame. DC should’ve had Houston’s colors with a White helmet. The lack of a Blue in the Defenders branding kills me. St Louis should’ve had Houston’s satin Silver helmet. Or, New York should’ve had the satin Silver helmet, seeing as how Gargoyles are typically grey-ish (even as in their own logo). Would’ve been absolutely stunning with both of their uniforms, and especially a grey/black/grey combo. TB should’ve had LA’s colors (pirate-ish and would match the stadium). Seattle should’ve had TB’s colors (SuperSonics). Houston should’ve had Dallas’s colors. No 2 teams should’ve had the same color helmet. Haven’t seen LA yet but assuming they will.
  22. I just can’t believe someone got paid to design these, and that a team of people running million dollar entities approved them. Unreal! So many of us here could’ve done a better job in an hour.
  23. I want to know who is responsible for these designs. I’m so irritated.
