  1. I much prefer it without but the white outline on the black Jets helmet logo does make this more likely.
  2. That would conflict with the basic 1-color design of the Green & White unis, so don't hold your breath on that. I also saw a mock-up similar to this, with White outlines on the Green numbers on a Black uniform and it really doesn't look good at all.
  3. I think it's very safe to assume that they'll wear White socks with both the White & Green uniforms at times. And I'm certain they'll wear Black socks with the Black uniform.
  4. And another from Jake Buff:
  5. Nice mockup of possible Black set via Twitter: Likely what we get and while I don't think any of us want a Black alt, we're getting one, so if this is close to what it will be, I can accept these terms since the move to the Sack Exchange home & away is a mega-win for the Jets. Will remind many of the Black 49ers alts of years ago; I was in the minority of people who didn't hate those as a standalone uniform (they just didn't suit the 49ers).
  6. Sounds like something a rich guy would to to appease his bored wife, for sure.
  7. You're...you're arguing that the Steelers stencil wordmark, that they've used since 1968, and that Packers wordmark, which they've used since 1958, look like :censored:? How about this? Your opinion is :censored:. Your opinion is :censored:. Your opinion is :censored:.
  8. This part, I can't argue with. Aside from the helmet, the rest is terrible.
  9. "Commanders" is literally a military-inspired brand. The military has long used, and is known for, stenciled fonts. Are you unable to make the connection or just not aware?
  10. And to drive my point home, if there would be a single team in the NFL that would be right to consider using a stencil font, it's unequivocally the Washington Commanders. Sadly, they screwed it up in their current look by using a noodle-thin font.
  11. I’m always amazed at the level of concepts Phil will post on his website. These are just not good.
  12. I get why they did what they did: a traditional 3-stripe decal would cause them to either shrink or alter the helmet logo, as the flames would run into the stripe. The current reverse tapered stripe is the way it is for the same reason, they just found a storytelling way to explain it (sword or spear). Reducing the logo to fit a standard stripe might cause the logo to look cartoonishly small. So, there are three solutions: - keep logo, no stripe - keep logo, add thin 1-color stripe - change logo, add standard 3-color stripe Their logo is good, but I’d drop or modify the flames to allow for a 3-stripe so that you could bring back the original pants.
  13. Titans have one of the best color schemes in the league, less the unfortunate shoehorning in of the bi-tone grays. Their original set was solid, but flawed. The White & Light Blue pants were perfect. The Navy pants ruined every look it was worn with, as it does on the current set because they constantly wear the wrong combos. Both number fonts were/are horrific and the original helmet stripe became terribly dated. Shoulder yokes in football uniforms themselves became terribly dated, so overall, I don't blame the Titans for making a change in 2018. They just mucked it up. The fix is to return to the Oilers helmet but use the Titans logo, maybe swapping to a Light Blue facemask as they would use Red as a tertiary color after Light Blue & Navy. They should return to their original Light Blue and White pants, keeping a little Red from the league logo and the Swoosh. Would not be completely opposed to considering a hip logo over top the stripes, like the Ravens have. Being that they fought so hard to keep the colors from Houston, they need to make a Light Blue jersey their primary. They need to retain the 3-stripe from the pant to the helmet, or just not use a stripe. Get rid of the use of Gray altogether. Essentially, a modern Oilers update, replacing Red with Navy and adding Red elements.
  14. People have to justify their positions and abilities with "processes". Processes, in corporate America, means "time". Then, there are rounds of presentations & revisions that are all "part of the process". And then, of course, there's the testing phase, with focus groups, etc. etc. Then revisions. Then "we've gotta think about it," for a few months - which is sometimes good, as people come to their senses...and sometimes bad, because it gives people time to come up with ways and reasons to :censored: up good design.
  15. Jets are blowing out their most recent jerseys, too (not the Sack Exchange). If the Seahawks or Titans are changing, it's odd that those jerseys aren't on sale, when the Broncos unis are. I can see why the Texans and Lions would not be, since they made playoff runs. Will be worth keeping an eye on over the next month or so.
  16. It's really not that big of a deal. 5 players out of 53 will be wearing it like this.
  17. If "pre-Nike" only means "since 1975", then you are technically correct. But you are ignoring the Saints' original uniform, which featured a brassier gold, that they wore from '67-74.
  18. Correct - it does not match the Old Gold used on either of the Saints' alternate/throwback uniforms. The Vegas Gold they use now is lighter and less saturated, the Old Gold is more like a brass color. I think most of the forum here has been pounding the table for years now for the Saints to just flip to the Old Gold permanently, and felt it was an awful mistake to not use it for their Alternate helmet introduced this year or last, where the Saints decided to wear that Black abomination (though, rumor is that it was between that or a White helmet).
  19. Shiny fabrics are a relic of 80's & 90's athletic uniforms, regardless of manufacturer. The current material that Nike uses is lighter, more durable, has more stretch, breathes better, dries faster, can have perforations for ventilation without getting destroyed, and more decoration ability. It generally fits and performs better all-around. It has been developed over the years with all those things in mind. Trends are cyclical, so don't rule out seeing shiny fabrics again, built better to perform better. As far as looks, that's entirely subjective. Some love & miss shiny pants, like the ones that the Cowboys still wear, while others (like me) prefer the matte fabrics. As for New Orleans, I think their Matte Gold throwback pants look great...it's the helmet that's the problem.
  20. I'm hopeful, if they do decide to not do a straight repeat of their last Super Bowl matchup, that they'd wear White/White. Would be a nice contrast for the Chiefs to be in all-White. They've also never worn this combination in their last 3 Super Bowl appearances, and it was Lamar Hunt's favorite...maybe they do it this year for Norma. They wore it in Super Bowl I and lost, though, for those who are superstitious.
  21. They only wore metallic Gold pants during that uniform era from the late 90's to around that time. Historically, they'd always worn a flat tan/gold pant. Montana/Rice era for easy reference, but they wore them long before that, too.
  22. To continue the Jag-jacking of this thread, if/when Jacksonville finally does a Throwback uniform to this beloved set, I'd argue they should go all the way back to the beginning, not just 1997: These block number bad boys made for a very good uniform. Still, I'm on the side of things that says their current Coughlin-era set are still very, very good (when the right combos are worn): Keep these, wear them right (Teal/White/Teal or Black, White/Teal/White or Black, Black/White/Black, Black/Teal/Black, never any Black pants), and introduce the '95-96 set and as their Throwback and they're good to go forever. If they *need* a Color Rush (b/c NFL/NIKE), add a Matte White helmet and wear White/White/White to finally achieve the Snow Leopard look they've teased in marketing. It is not difficult.
  23. Yes, I'm sure he was referring to these, but he's probably the only person on Planet Earth who calls them "Garrard Era". Boselli-era. Brunell-era. McCardell-Smith-era. Tony Freakin' Brackens-era. Anything but David Garrard-era (he was only the starter in that uniform for 2 seasons).
