The Hurricanes are likely to cut ties with Charlotte and move their affiliation to the Wolves. Florida would then presumably take over Charlotte.

Ahh Florida, breaking up another affiliation that makes a ton of sense(Sabres and Rochester being the first.)

It's not on them I know, just funny.

    • Dallas Mavericks
    • Houston Rockets
    • New Orleans Pelicans
    • San Antonio Spurs
    • Tucson Lions

    Changes

    • Expansion Teams: Hartford Harpoons*, New Jersey Swamp Dragons (Newark, NJ), Buffalo Braves, Cincinnati Reign, Pittsburgh Condors, Louisville Colonels, St. Louis Bombers, Virginia Fleet (Norfolk, VA), Alaska Auroras (Anchorage, AK)**, Seattle Supersonics***, Vancouver Sea Lions, Kansas City Wranglers, Las Vegas Diablos, Tulsa Mustangs, Los Angeles Surf****, Austin Rattlesnakes, Tucson Lions.
    • Relocated Teams: Clippers (Los Angeles to San Diego, CA).
    • Team Color Changes: Brooklyn Nets (add Brooklyn Dodgers Blue and make uni numbers New Jersey Nets red along with their current white and black color scheme), New York Knicks (back to the mid-90s color scheme to "hearken to successful years"), Miami Heat (vice colors full time), Utah Jazz (90s purple, late 2000s light blue), Dallas Mavericks (pre-2002 color scheme full time, but with the 2002-present royal blue), San Antonio Spurs (fiesta colors return and are primary colors along with black and silver).
    • ABC, FOX and NBC hold rights to the network broadcasts and NBA Finals broadcasts are rotated so ABC in 2020, FOX in 20201, NBC in 2022 and so on, ESPN, Fox Sports 1&2, TNT, TBS and CBS Sports Network hold cable rights, ESPN+, Facebook, Peacock (NBC) and CBS All Access have the streaming rights.
    • Similar to NFL but division rivals play each other 4x each, other teams in the same conference 3x each, teams from a division in the opposite conference 1x each and 4 random teams from the other conference 1x each = 84 games.
    • 20 NBA Playoff teams, 10 in each conference, bottom 4 seeds (7v 10, 8 v 9) play each other in the wild card round, one game, and the lowest seed advances to play #1 and the highest seed to advance plays #2, after that, same format as real life NBA. 8 teams from each conference but with a twist, the same reseeding happens so the lowest seed always plays the highest seed.
    • *Hartford Harpoons are announced as an NBA expansion team the same day the Hartford Whalers are announced to make their long awaited return to the ice for the first time in almost 3 decades.
    • **The Alaska Auroras become the first professional team from Alaska.
    • ***The Seattle SuperSonics also get back the name, logos, and records from the Oklahoma City Thunder, which makes the Pacific Northwest go wild.
    • ****After the Clippers move back to San Diego after their Inglewood plans fail, to prevent being the only major five leagues to not have two teams in the Los Angeles media market, quickly announce the Los Angeles Surf as an expansion team, owned by a Dean Spanos relative, so Chargers and Surf do many cross promotions as well as the Surf having similar colors except orange has been added. Unlike the Clippers, the Surf's Inglewood arena gets built.

TIdewater Fleet sounds a lot better to me.

I love all parts of the Colts rebrand, the logos, the unis, the wordmark. Everything. I don't even mind the Nike logo being black in the unis.

They did it with the Angels so why not?

Orioles name also was promoted, same with (I think) the Padres

For the sake of loosing the silly nickname and not having anything else creative, I was thinking of just using the standard abbreviation of my name: Jer.

There's a few "Jeremys" and "Jers" with numbers or initials (for example: Jerm or jerne) that aren't active (or barely are active). Plus i'm sure there are future Jeremys and Jerrys to sign up.

Would this change be a case of being too similar? Just wanted to check before I pull the trigger.

Dont go confusing me with a new name haha

    Talking about the Sabres..

Their inaugural road jersey's originally striping were all blue. I glad they changed it because that road had too much blue and addtion of gold helped to balance the colours better on the road.

The prevailing story I hear is that they were changed due to being too close to Toronto.

My two favorite sports are baseball and NASCAR. I'm sure I'm not the only person to really like both sports. Anyway, I don't want you to get the impression that I don't like Charlotte. It's actually one of my favorite cities. I have family there, I've been the the 600 twice and the October race. I love Charlotte and the surrounding area. (I'd move there tomorrow if I could) That said, based on the economics, I don't see how an MLB team could carve out a spot in an already saturated sports market like Charlotte.

81 home games is a lot of dates to sell at MLB prices. Sure, you can get the occasional good, cheap seat at an MLB game, but the team makes its in the park money on season tickets, the high dollar seats, concessions, luxury boxes, in stadium ads, etc. Another thing to consider is this, will the Panthers, Hornets, and NASCAR sponsors either spend more money or move their ads to the new MLB team? Maybe, maybe not. Will the people who own luxury suites with the current teams by yet another one for a baseball team? Then you gotta work out TV and radio deals, get sponsors for those deals, and so on. Point being, it's not as simple as just putting an MLB team in Charlotte and waiting for everyone to show up. A new team throws a huge wrench into an established sports market. There are only so many dollars to go around. As I said before, a new team doesn't bring in new money to a market, it has to fight for the money that's already there. That's why I think any MLB relocation should be to either completely "untapped" markets or markets with just one "big 4" team.

Similar to this is why I think Buffalo will never get a NBA team back, nor would it be a good idea. I'd love for Buffalo(or Pittsburgh, for that matter) to have an NBA team. But putting yourself in direct competition for spending dollars with the NHL in that market size and two things could happen:

    1. NBA does really well and causes the NHL to leave

    2. NBA flounders and leaves.

I would argue that they're a couple tweaks away from the perfect look.

First and foremost, the white and purple pants have to go. The Ravens have never looked right with anything other than black pants. Their black/purple/black combo is one of the best looks in the league. However, the pants should have purple stripes to match the helmets. They also need contrasting socks to avoid the "yoga pants" look.

Secondly, the helmets would really benefit from a purple glimmer effect, similar to the teal glimmer effect on the Jaguars' 2009-2012 helmets.

Remarkable about how a post can lead off with a opinion that, personally, i find to be 100% incorrect and then follow it up with something that is perfect.

Ravens should ditch the black pants and go with purple and white. Purple/white/black socks and white/purple/black are amazing looks. White/white black is good too, but not as much.

Purple flakes in the helmet though? amazing

Thanks. Timing-wise, the iPhone update would make sense. I’m in the same boat where this is the only site it happens to me on. I have the iPhone XR which doesn’t have the 3D Touch feature... wonder if they had anything to do with it.

I have issues with my email on the iPhone using the browser(dont have my work hooked into my phone. refuse to, in fact)

Right. When you have a billion dollars you can easily get someone else to give you another billion dollars. That's not the problem. The problem is they want to reap the rewards without paying for it, which is another way they became billionaires in the first place.

Also stadiums don't need to cost a billion dollars. Baseball stadium design should be moving more where MLS is now. If you're in a climate like Oakland's you don't need a retractable roof like the Rangers or like you would in Vegas and you don't need 65,000 seats. I'd love to see a major league team take a minor league style design and really trick it out with about 32,000 super intimate seats.

That was, from my memory, the reason behind the design on PNC Park. Owners wanted an intimate ballpark that emphasised the view of the city over adding additional seats. One of the best ballparks for those reasons.

I don't know if this really counts, but it seems like they don't really sell San Francisco Giants jerseys with a number but no NOB unless you buy the full authentic on- field version. The replicas they sell come with NOB despite the fact that the team doesn't have them.

I often see Yankee jerseys with NOB.   I think fans just like NOBs and they're a better seller.

They don't, and those replicas that do were done by a third party. It's a way to push fans to buy authentics. Same reason that replicas don't have sleeve patches.

Want to buy the exact match, better pony up for the authentics.

I don’t ever see it coming any closer to reality than this (especially with Portland and Las Vegas our there), but a few MLB fans in Utah have started the hashtag #MLBtoSLC and one local graphic designer made a quick mock-up of what the “Salt Lake Athletics” would look like:

And for the fun of it, he also made a mock-up of the “Salt Lake A’zz.” His thoughts—and those who responded to him—are exactly as you would think:

Again, I don’t ever see it happening, but fun to think about nonetheless.

As much as I both hate minor league clones and love preserving the Salt Lake City Bees?

I'd love to see this, even as a minor league As takeover.
