  1. So, take this with all necessary grains of salt you wish.

I dont know if it's a new template, but what i've been told is that it's a new material coming out. Could it be just like the switch from Reebok 1.0 to 2.0? Quite possibly, but who knows.

Only source I can provide for the above is conversations with companies and people in the R/HJ sub and discord that I trust their info. So take what I say with that salt.

I like the idea of a yellow Penguins alternate to go with their classic set, just not this one. It’s a really weak design. The lack of a Golden Triangle, and the random shoulder numbers are dumb decisions. The striping is also really weak, especially considering there’s no hem stripes. It just feels bland and uninspired.

I like the shoulder numbers. Different, but they did it in 1980-1988 so it isnt without precedent.

That said, i wish the third yellow was just a yellow version of the home/away.

Does anyone know who actually makes the decision of which jersey the team wears?  Is it the owner or the players?  GM?

With Pittsburgh, they are probably going with some yellow towels or t-shirts for the fans, so I get why they would wear the yellow alternates.

The other teams, I have no idea why.

Penguins are doing it, from what I’ve heard, because Crosby likes them and Crosby wants it.

this same source told me that the penguins were wearing yellow before they announced it, so I’m giving them this trust.

  4. Fruit of a poisoned tree is what needs to be avoided. I'm in the camp of burn it all down, new colors and logos and all.

That said, it isnt happening. If it is fruit of the poisoned tree, then it and anything derived from it cannot be used because it is related to the old name and imagery.

Rugby still does this, which is why there are no names on the back of international uniforms. In fact, if you wanted to order England jerseys with a number other than 1-15 it had to be a multiple of 5 (20-100), for an anniversary year. Pro leagues allow NOB now, but some leagues still stick to the number being determined by position.

Rugby Union still, to my knowledge, has no names on the back of any major league(Pro14, Top 14, Premiership, SuperRugby) nor international as you've said. The 7s teams do but they can because short tournament.

Rugby League, closely related but different sport, has names though. And a different numbering system.

I like Navy in general, though it might be overused.

Not sure how unpopular this is but I think the Bears are by far the "drabbest" team in the NFL. I admit that I don't know much about pantones, etc. but if you look at the Islanders photo above, I think it's a decent look.  I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) that the Bears blue is darker.  I think if their blue looked like the Islanders (i.e., a bit lighter) or if it was just black instead of blue (i.e., like the Bengals), I'd like their look a lot better. But their shade is kind of in this weird in-between spot that just doesn't appeal to me.

If I am wrong about the darkness of the Bears's color, then it must be something about the way they balance their colors.

Might be the amount of orange too. Islanders use a lot more orange than the bears do, so it could impact it.

No clue how popular/unpopular this is, but I hate the manufacturer-specific designs in soccer. The adidas three stripes in particular are annoying (especially the MLS template where it goes over the shoulder on one side) and I wish it was more like other sports where the manufacturer doesn't have a "design element" outside of their logo on the jerseys.

Honestly, I dont mind the adidas stripes with the exception of the ones you mention on the MLS jerseys.

That said, I do mind the kappa logo stripes and puma having three logos on one jersey.

So did I, and I think the logo looks perfectly fine. Do the Islanders need to change their logo just because it's old and I have no context for their dynasty since I grew up seeing them as a punchline? No, because that's the logo that's associated with 4 straight Stanley Cups and some of the best players to ever skate at that time, like Bossy, Trottier, Goring and the like. Same with the Oilers; that logo saw 5 Cups, and probably would've saw a sixth had Roloson not gotten injured in 2006.

The Oilers' logo has remained virtually the same for 47 years and counting. It's been worn by legends like Gretzky, Kurri, Coffey, Fuhr, Messier and Anderson to nearly-unparalleled success, and I'd much rather they stick to that tradition than redesign into some kind of silly oil worker logo or go minimalist and completely botch it. We don't need the Oilers going down the road of the Bengals by massively oversimplifying their logo.

There's value in tradition. The Flyers have never changed their logo, do we need them to make some dumb modernized version of their logo as the new primary just to say they're "in the 21st century now"?

Flyers tried that, and back to the current logo.

Usually, @_J_, I try not to add wins that get one into the playoffs before finding out if they get eliminated and win, telling the person who requests it I hope that's not the farthest they make it, but it looks like we may be going head-to-head in the first round so...

But if the Ravens manage to pass us, I do hope the Bills go far.

Sadly, nothing to add. Minor change though:

Can you switch the 16 Penguins cup banner from vegas to yellow? I know that they won in vegas gold, but the banner at PPG Paints is in yellow and I'd like it to match that.

    Thanks kindly, as always.

I actually prefer the NBA logo on the back of the jerseys. It doesn't get in the way of the team's design if it's on the back and it looked a little out of place without something opposite it. Now, moving it to the back to make room for ads? That I'm not a fan of.

I dont like it because it displaced a team logo. The Raptors, for instance, had a maple leaf on the back that was then transitioned to the belt buckle location of the shorts. In principle I do agree, I do like it on the back but wish teams had a place to put a team logo on the jersey.

    1. Did you move?

    2. Aww, but they just won a championship last year.

    3. When did you have the Raptors?   You've never had them in the past and I can't find you making a request for them.   🤣

Let’s just say long story and updating reality. And hahaha disregard, sure about that.
