  1. Awesome pic! Looks like a silver outline of just the 100 part, and a darker shade of blue for the NFL logo, than the 100. Doesn't look to have any 3D effects, but we have seen in past years shading and gradients added to the Super Bowl logos within the last two days before the game, when they re-paint the field. So something to look out for, but to me it looks like this is the logo they're going to go with.
  2. I also see some interesting things in this image (complements of @jc...) It looks like, at least to begin with, they are painting 3D effects on that NFL logo, with drop shadows around the stars and "NFL". It could be possible that the NFL 100 logo at midfield will use the 3D, plastic like, version, similar to this: You can see the dark line in the second 0, that would be in the center of the number. Plus, the shadow in the "NFL" part of the logos both match each other in each image. The other points to look at, are the outline of the white part of the 100. Theres a silver outline outside of the white, which again matches the 3D style NFL 100 logo. Can't wait to see what other images we get (and hopefully some endzones soon!)
  3. Latest update: NFL 100 logo and the Super Bowl logos are painted. No endzones yet; maybe the teams still need to decide on a style. I've noticed that the dimension of the logos I have are a bit off. The Super Bowl logo doesn't span the full width of the hashes, and is completely inside the hashmarks fromt he 20 to 30 yard lines. The NFL 100 logo looks to be the same width as what I have, but not as tall, with the football nearly sitting on top of the hash mark, with the NFL logo being mostly above the hashes, and being completely between the 47 yard lines on either side.
  4. They've done this the past few years actually, although those games were on an artificial surface, which makes a huge difference when it comes to field paint. For Super Bowl 50, I beleive they painted the field twice. The first go around the field paint colors looked much darker, but by game day, the colors were bright. Interesting that ASUs ground crew is in charge of the Super Bowl fields. I wonder how they determine who takes over painting the fields. I know they usually like to stick with the same crew from year to year.
  5. One more, with a full field this time. There's no dirt behind the endzones anymore, but there is black rubber.
  6. They do still have the dirt (or something) behind the endzones. I suppose the question is, how far in the back of the endzone it is (see the bottom of the image below). To me, it looks like it starts at the end of the out of bounds line at the back of the endzone.
  7. Here's what we can assume so far: This is my full sized template, for anyone who wants to mess around with making some field concepts.
  8. This is an awesome link! It'll be great to see changes as they happen. Looks like I've got to update the concepts. It's great to see the NFL 100 logo at midfield. Don't think we will see other logos on the 25s then. Can't wait to see the endzones! (Hopefully they don't go generic with them)
  9. Now this will be an absolutely beautiful field. If they went this rout, I could also see the Chiefs endzone being red, despite the red helmet (like the Eagles had a green helmet and endzone in Super Bowl XXXIX) I also gave the classic two bar, double helmet endzones a shot:
  10. Going off the past few years of Super Bowls, this is what I can see as the possible fields for this season (but I'm hoping they surprise us with something better). Personally, I think the 49ers classic wordmark would be the best for them, and for some veriety in Super Bowl fields, I'd like to see the NFL 100 logo at midfield.
  11. Classic style would be an interesting a great touch for the Super Bowl in the NFL's 100th season. Although, The Chiefs would probably use their "KC" logo, as they had in Super Bowl IV 50 years ago (and also, there's no way that Chiefs logo would fly in 2020). I've got some stromboli at my parents house right now, and my regular computer at home (and a day off work tomorrow), so some SF-KC concepts to come later. I'll certainly give that a shot. Would be nice to see an athletic gold vs red endzone, and this style of field, but we all know this won't happen.
  12. 2019 NFL Playoffs Wild Card Divisional Conference Championships
  13. How's this? Much better than anything we will see Super Bowl Sunday for sure. I went with standard NFL logo at midfield, and NFL 100 logos at the 25s, as has been standard for the 2019 season. For the Titans endzone, I went with silver and white in the wordmark, with a navy outline, which is how the field was painted in Nashville in 2018 (without a columbia endzone). Looks better on the columbia background as well.
  14. The NFL throwback YouTube channel loves releasing full games, or full game highlights, of important games that mirror some of the current week's games. This week they have the Packers at 49ers Wild card game from 1998: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcyaKOr4O88&t=980s Figured I'd give the field a shot:
  15. Here's a look at a field possibility, with the NFL 100 logo in the endzones, and some painted numbers and yard markers. I've also got some updates to Super Bowl III to work on, pointed out to me by Bill over at the Gridiron Uniforms Database, so I'll be working on that in the near future as well as catching up on some Super Bowl LIV concepts.
  16. Saw this image of a painted Vipers field rendered for the XFL commercial that aired on FOX last weekend: Lot's of interesting things in this image. Firstly though, I don't think this is what we would see for a Vipers field come game day, but maybe it shows some hope that the fields won't be XFL 2001 like (which had no team logos at all, just an XFL logo at midfield, and black endzones with XFL logos in the center). The image looks like it came from a Buccaneers game this year, since you can see the NFL 100 logos are still on the field in this image. And there's no way the XFL will be able to fill this size of stadium to capacity (although, in smaller stadiums, like in DC, they should be filling stadiums if they want a chance to make multiple years out of this league). I'd hope to see a bit more creativity for field designs out for the XFL this time around. Hopefully they took notes form the AAF when it comes to field design.
  17. I've done one other concept, this for LA: Given how the XFL has loved putting the LA claws all over their uniforms, it would be fitting that they put them on the field in the endzones. Also, an interesting short shot of what looks like a Tampa Bay Vipers painted field (computer generated of course) during the XFL commercial on Fox during one of the playoff games last weekend: I don't know if we should take this as a possible hint or not. I'd say no, because the media people who make these commercials have nothing to do with the grounds crews. The image from Tampa was taken during a Buccaneers game this season (The NFL 100 logos are still seen on the field!), and there's no way the XFL will fill that many seats. Things of note: that 'V' at midfield is massive, no XFL logos anywhere, and gold endzones for the Vipers (which I'd be okay with given they would be painting the entire endzone). I'd hope for something better than this come game days, and hopefully some designs that can surpass the AAF.
  18. I think I've tried some gold endzone concepts for Green Bay in the past, I'd just have to find them. Personally, I am a fan of the Green endzone more, but maybe that's just because that's what I'm used to seeing. Same with the G logo. On their home field we always see it on grass with the gold outline. Of corse on the helmets the G is on a gold background, but I've always felt it's missing the outer line. I'd like to give this a try, if I can find the time. I think small NFL 100 logos at the 25's, like what most teams have done this season is probably most likely. I'll get some concepts done up of that. I've gotten a few of these in the past. Great for nailing down official colors and things, and getting official logos. Where'd you end up finding these ones?
  19. Here are some alternate endzone possibilities for the Titans and 49ers I like the columbia blue as an endzone color better for the Titans, but it doesn't go as well with theur wordmark. I think overall, the Titans Navy endzone is better. As for the 49ers, the classic wordmark is far above the modern one.
  20. We're down to 4 teams. It's hard to say what the NFL will do with this field regarding the NFL 100 logo. I'm guessing it'll be at midfield in place of the standard NFL logo. If not, I can see the Standard NFL logo at midfield, and the NFL 100 logo at the 25 yard lines, as they have been for NFL fields this year. Here are some first ideas on what we could see in a few weeks, with the remaining four teams: The great thing this year is that there will not be a navy vs navy endzone matchup, which makes a huge difference. Also, we won't have a white wordmark. A Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl would be the first red vs red endzone matchup, and a Chiefs-Packers Super Bowl would only be the second red vs green endzone matchup (Super Bowl XXXI being the only other). It's possible that the Titans could go with a columbia blue endzone, and it's also possible that the 49ers use their official wordmark (despite them not using on their field since early 2018).
  21. Don't worry, that's where I was headed with this... Time for some concepts prior to the season. Dallas Renegades I based this field off of the Globe Life Park renderings of a Renegades field, but standerdized the markings to a professional field. I also added the XFL logo at the 25s, which are prominent field spots when viewing on TV. I the XFL logo in team colors, as is done on the XFL footballs. This was the rendering of Globe Life Park in a football configuration, as I referred to: Houston Roughnecks Not much to do with this field. The XFL will have to put down professional hash marks over the field, as well as marks to indicate where the numbers would be on a professional field, as was done with Salt Lake in the AAF. Again, I added team color XFL logos at the 25s. Not much can be done with the rest of the field, since the turf is sewn in, and can't be changed.
  22. It's going to be a beautiful field; can't wait to see the finished result! And if the 49ers do make it to the Super Bowl, I'm really hoping they use the old wordmark. It would make a huge difference in the look and feel of a Super Bowl endzone.
  23. Awesome! Looks like they also changed the wordmark to all gold, which is what they usually do when on a red background, as opposed to what they've had throughout this season. For reference, this is what the 49ers have been using throughout the 2019 season: And this wordmark is what is looks like they will be using Sunday (and if they make the Super Bowl, I'm hoping this is what they go with) I agree with you, the old wordmark is much better than the past 15 years or so. It just feels like the 49ers.
  24. I figured I'd get a head start on the 2020 XFL season fields while I had the time, and put together field templates for all 8 teams. All the templates here are the full size that I work with (9144x4344 pixles : 1px=1/2inch scale). Feel free to use these templates if you'd like, for XFL, or any other field concepts. Dallas - Globe Life Park I had to guess on what the field may look like, since there has never been a football field at Globe Life Park, but typically grass fields are basic. DC - Audi Field Again I had to guess a little bit, so for DC my template mirrors the (Commanders) field, and again is quite basic. Houston - TDECU Stadium The turf in Houston is sewn in, so we can expect lines to show where the professional numbers go on the field, and hashes, similar to Utah in the AAF. Los Angeles - Dignity Health Sports Park Same field the Chargers have been playing on, so the template has been based on that field. New York - MetLife Stadium Based on the sewn in portions of the Giants and Jets stadium, minus the NFL logo at midfield. Seattle - Century Link Field Same field that the Seahawks play on. St. Louis - The Dome at America's Center Based on the last field at the stadium when the Rams were in St. Louis Tampa Bay - Raymond James Stadium Same playing surface as the Buccaneers Let's hope the XFL does a better job with fields than they did in 2001, and can match or top the fields of the AAF.
  25. Wow, now that's interesting. (I would love to see that video if you have a link) I wonder if the difference in the new sod vs the old could be seen during the game. I'm going to have to go back and look at it.
