  1. If the leaked jersey is real, then it’s a massive swing and miss. Only the Islanders, man.
  2. Doubleposting with another concept. This time it's team Sweden! Sweden's always been a conservative team with their jerseys, so I kept that the same here. The home jersey is the same design that the team usually uses for international tournaments, but to keep in line with this series' theme, the road jersey is tweaked with a different jersey design. It utilizes thick striping around the chest and arms, but otherwise stays relatively in the box. Simple, small, but effective. Thoughts?
  3. Credit where credit is due: That is a cool piece of technology. But knowing that it'll be used solely for advertising is just bleak.
  4. what are the odds the reverse retros will have jersey ads?
  5. A shirt turned up at the Isles store in UBS arena featuring what may be the Reverse Retro 2.0 logo Doesn't match the descriptions we've heard so far, and the lack of teeth feels weird. But I don't hate it.
  6. On to the next one with team USA. Team USA is kinda strange in terms of hockey aesthetics. They can't pick a lane between the classic and modern aesthetics, and I tried to toe the line with these concepts. Like every other team in this series the home and road are mismatching, with the home taking up the modern vibe and the road taking a more classical approach. I really like the way both of these turned out. What do you think?
  7. I'd be willing to concede digital board ads if they took the actual ads off the boards.
  8. I agree. If they removed the redundant shoulder logos and nipple numbers they'd be a pretty sweet look — and I'm pretty anti-orange with the sharks.
  9. omg they released 30 seconds of clips from two years ago with royalty free music in the background??????
  10. I disagree. Even though each jersey is different from one another, they all look good on their own. The logos and color palette are both unique enough to where the jerseys all look cohesive even with three different designs. That's a really good indicator of a rock solid brand. The entire look is very well-made, if you ask me. The jerseys are no exception.
  11. well that was a very anticlimactic jersey unveiling
  12. I don't know whether this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I absolutely loved the World Cup of Hockey in 2016. I loved the energy around it, I loved the branding, and I loved the spectacle. The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, but there are talks of starting it back up again in 2024. With the prospect of another WCoH in a few years, I wanted to get the wheels turning and design some concepts for the intra-NHL tournament. It was a bit challenging to design uniforms for each team given that the league's contract with Adidas as a uniform provider is set to expire before 2024, so I chose Nike to be the league's new manufacturer. That said, I also tweaked the template Nike uses for hockey to make it more traditional, namely by fixing the arm and waist striping. The Nike Flyknit collar and bulky shoulder yokes that we've become accustomed to stay intact though, and will be used for each team. Unlike previous WCoH designs, I tried to give every team a mismatching set of jerseys. The home and road jerseys for each team feature distinctly different feels to them, in order to keep the uniform matchups interesting and to further explore the depth of each team's brand. I also tried to keep the jerseys distinctly different from the 2016 designs, so as to move each team's identity forward. Alright, enough blabbering, let's get into the designs. I'll kick things off with one of my favorite teams both in the tournament and in the jersey department — team North America. I tried to keep Team North America's identity similar to what it was in 2016 — bold, fresh, modern, and unique. I removed the heather pattern the team used in 2016, but tried modeling the jersey striping after the logo. The home jersey uses triangular shoulder blocks to mimic the logo, and the road uses a half-and-half gradient logo somewhat styled after the logo. The 'XXIII' mark in the logo also appears on the jerseys' right arms, in a subtle nod to the team's under-23 player makeup. I tried balancing the colors better than the 2016 jerseys did too, by using the whole color pallette in each jersey. I'll be posting each team's jerseys over the course of the next couple days. For the time being, what do you think of Team North America?
  13. the flames used the black c exclusively for nearly ten years, and used it as a primary logo for over fifteen. the white c has only been a sporadic alternate since 2013, save for the last year or two. could explain why there are so many black c jerseys. i dunno.
  14. hey now this isn't the unpopular opinions thread
  15. The Islanders have teased the fisherman's return with the announcement of "90s Night" in December. If the Reverse Retros are going to be unveiled in November, then having '90s night in December makes sense.
  16. Double posting to express my disdain for the fact that the Arizona Coyotes don't use the kachina pattern on their socks. I can understand that the technical limitations of the '90s made it so the original kachina uniforms couldn't feature the pattern on the socks, but I think it would make the jerseys so much more consistent looking nowadays.
  17. Slightly tangential, but I think I'd like jersey ads better if they were local(ish) businesses instead of multinational banks and tech startups that will be belly up in three years. Like, if the Avs (god forbid) decide to have jersey ads, I'd much rather see a King Soopers ad than a KeyBank or Pepsi ad. I still hate jersey ads on the whole, don't get me wrong, but I think it'd be much more palatable if the Coyotes had an In-N-Out ad instead of a massive casino chain. And though having the ad still sucks, I'd much rather see the Bruins have a local-ish company on their jerseys than Chase or Bridgestone. EDIT: I was really stoned when I typed this out. No idea what I was saying. Carry on.
  18. that's literally just the leaf's beiber jersey with a witchita flag
  19. anyways Are the people in the Coyotes’ branding department alright? That’s a lot of peyote all at once. Someone make sure they have water and a good tripsitter.
  20. New center ice logo for the Isles. A lot of people — me included — disliked the anniversary logo for how plain it was at first, but after seeing the jersey patches and now the center ice design, I think simplicity was the right move. Looks clean and classy both on the jerseys and on the ice.
  21. Nobody realistically thought the ads were only gonna last for a year, but I don't believe any of the teams that announced jersey ads acknowledged how long the deals were for.
  22. The Bruins have announced a five year (!!!) jersey ad deal with cybersecurity company Rapid7. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the first announcement to acknowledge that the ads aren’t a one-year deal.
