Completely agree, I do not like the gold jerseys at all.

Maybe as a special alternate, not as a full time uniform.

They are essentially schools with just bigger ROTC programs. They aren’t contracted to serve when they enter unless they get the ROTC scholarship. Also they don’t have to enter active duty service but can choose reserve option unlike the Academies that must go active for a period. Nor do they need congressional nominations to even apply.

It’s not piping though, nothing close to it in fact. It’s a weird half side panel thing that just ends up being a pit stain.

But the slippery slope is exactly what we have gotten, the NFL keeps changing rules to increase profits and make teams happy. It use to be 1 alternate or one throwback uniform, you could only wear them 3 times during the season and couldn’t wear them after a certain week (I forget it’s been awhile) now each team can have an alt, throwback, and color rush uniform all at the same time, and wear each of them up to 4 times if they want. I’m surprised a team like the Jaguars hasn’t done this yet and literally not wear a single jersey more than 4 times in a year. The same thing will happen with helmets because we have seen it happen with jerseys.

You could wrap A helmet, but the process is long, unless you an assembly line of guys doing multiple helmets at once to do a full team including spare helmets it will take a few day which a team can’t exactly do with practices during the week. You could use platidip but that looks like trash 9/10 times. There is also the issue of durability. Plastidip will peal right off, and vinyl wraps might be better but not by much. At the end of the day the process is too long, not cost effective, and/or not durable to last a game and practices.

It’s not a wrap like a decal, it’s hydro dipped which is another version of getting graphics on stuff like Oregon’s carbon fiber helmets.

It was a Nike design and they did have a partnership with HGI at the time who did WTF’s helmets. From what I heard the packers were going to go to the Leather helmet wrap but the 1 helmet rule was put in place so they just stripped the decals off their regular helmets.

There are enough options already and teams can’t be trusted with them.

Teams already do things like alternating in chrome decals and change face masks with their regular sets, they and the NFL can’t be trusted to 1. Create the rule, and 2. Follow it.

They can file a complaint all they want. The NFL doesn’t have to do anything about it.

But rams are already rumored to have a BFBS alternate this coming offseason
