I thought about it, but logo design, especially involving characters, is not my strong-suit. I'll see if I can manage to come up with something.

What if... the Padres relocated to Washington (and changed their name)? This is the same premise as my original Padres → DC design, just if they changed their name to another one they considered if they moved: the "Pandas," a reference to the pandas at the National Zoo.

I hadn't considered it, but I'll see if there's something I can do.

What if... the White Sox relocated to Milwaukee (and changed their name)? This is the same premise as my original White Sox → Milwaukee design, but if they changed their name to the "Brewers." Navy & light blue are both colors the Sox have worn in their past.

What if... the Athletics remained in Philadelphia? The Athletics left Philly for Kansas City in 1955, but what if they stayed? Gold is paired with blue for a scheme resembling the Philadelphia flag.

Before I post today's team, I wanted to do a full update on the Milwaukee and Houston variants of the Cardinals, based on the feedback as well as my own desire to make each set more unique: For Houston, I leaned even more into the red & gold, while updating the "H" in the away wordmark. The away jersey is a cream color as a reference to the 80's Astros. For Milwaukee, I leaned even more heavily into navy, while going with a cream base for the home, & adding stripes inpsired by the Brewers' real-life home jersey. Let me know what you think!

It was more difficult than I expected, but I honestly don't mind how it turned out: What do you all think?

I honestly greatly prefer the original "M," as it more closely matches the Cardinals' aesthetic, at least in my mind. It's also pretty similar to the "N" in their "Cardinals Nation" wordmark, which they use in signage around the ballpark. In fact, I'm gonna try to create an "M" lifted directly from that wordmark & see how it goes. I honestly didn't even notice that connection, but if anything that'd be a positive for me, as the Brewers wouldn't exist in this universe. Probably quite a bit! Interesting, I didn't realize that. Granted, a block "M" is quite a bit more basic than the stylized "NY," but the point is still interesting to consider. That would make for a nice cap logo!

What if... the Cardinals relocated to Milwaukee? When Cards' owner Fred Saigh had to sell the team due to tax evation, he also looked at Fred Miller and Milwaukee. Navy takes a heavier presence in this version of the Cardinals' set.

Thanks! I honestly didn't even think of the McDonald's connection. I thought about doing the "REDS" wordmark in the Padres' font, but I figured it'd be too short of a word. It probably is, but it still looks pretty decent: I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference, but it still looks pretty good: That's a good idea for the Cards! The exact Astros' shade gets pretty close to their cream, which I don't particularly mind: A dustier shade might work too: I created this after the Denver A's, because I figured that I'd get similar feedback. I think the double-outlines work better for Dallas than they do for Denver, but here's a look: Thanks as always for the feedback!

What if... the Athletics relocated to Dallas? Charlie O. tried to move the team in 1962, but it was rejected by other AL owners. I went with a kelly green & royal blue color scheme, modeled after the city's NBA team's former colors.

Thanks! The only thing about thickening the "V" would be that the curl at the end of it would start to run into the letterform itself. That would also make it thicker than the rest of the "Virginia" wordmark.

What if... the Expos relocated to Virginia (and changed their name)? Bill Collins III, who also tried to buy the Astros, tried to do the same with the Expos and move them to northern Virginia, but DC proper won out. This set takes a Nationals approach but with red & black.
  14. Yeah I agree, I mentioned under the Bucs how the new template is a negative on all of them - the Vapor Untouchable template was essentially perfect.
  15. Since they were coming in so fast, I figured I’d wait until all of the reveals in the Summer of Throwbacks™ appear to be complete before giving my thoughts in a full mega-post, so here it goes: Bucs: Absolutely gorgeous. My only issue is the template, which applies to everyone here, and isn’t the team’s fault. If only these had been able to come a year earlier so they could at least start on the Vapor Untouchable. Vikings: Personally, the Vikings’ current set is my favorite they’ve ever worn, save for the white-socks-at-home nonsense they started last year. The throwback itself isn’t bad by any means, but if they were gonna throw back, I’d much prefer they had gone with the 90’s Randy Moss away jersey. Seahawks: Another gorgeous throwback, one of my favorite color schemes in all of sports. The silver pants look nice & dark too which is good, I think the team’s regular gray pants are too light, nearly indistinguishable from white. I think probably still prefer the navy & lime green to be the main set for them, but I’d be more okay than ever if they went to royal/kelly full-time. Browns: I didn’t really like this throwback when it was revealed a year or two ago, just because it was so similar to the regular white jersey, but the white helmet improves it by offering a bit of separation between the two looks. I’m glad they were willing to sacrifice a little bit of historical accuracy to get the classic Browns stripes on there & a brown facemask. Titans: Obviously the columbia blue & red is gonna look good, but I agree with @oldschoolvikings that they should have moved the stripes up to the sleeve cap, even though that in a way sacrifices a bit of historical accuracy. They’re just too small on the cuffs, and they can’t even match the stripe style the Oilers used to wear. I don’t wanna get into whether the Oilers should be the Houston’s or the Titans’ team, but wearing them against the Texans is just mean. Jets: I don’t know, this one doesn’t really do much for me. It’s definitely an improvement over their regular set, as the helmet logo & the removal of black are both positives. But beyond that, there isn’t much there, it feels a bit bland. I honestly prefer the “jet” stripes of their main set to this. Broncos: The white helmet itself looks fine, but all-orange below that isn’t ideal. White socks would help slightly if they go with that. Eagles: Looks good, once again the template is the only main issue. The silver pants look pretty light, I wish they went with the darker shade the Seahawks appear to have. I prefer the Eagles in midnight green myself (although I’d drop black), but the kelly green isn’t bad as a throwback. and last, and certainly least: Colts: I like the vertical stripes, but the rest is bad… real bad. Overall, a really good summer for throwback looks, probably the best ever.

What if... the Cardinals relocated to Houston? Owner Fred Saigh had to sell the team due to tax evasion, so Houston (home of their AAA team) expressed interest, but he sold the team to Anheuser-Busch to keep them in StL. I brightened the red for the Houston variant of the team.

What if... the Athletics relocated to Phoenix? This one doesn't have much evidence at all behind it, just a brief remark in one article. Still, it provided a fun premise. The design is pretty similar to @SFGiants58's original concept, just trading copper for sand.

Thanks. Personally, I don't see too much of an issue with it, as since the Giants would move to San Francisco around the same time, there'd be no use for that NY logo otherwise. I'll see if I can work up something different though. Thanks! Yeah, even though it's just a name swap of my regular Reds design, the road gray is my favorite jersey of that set, too.

What if... the Reds relocated to New York? Stadium parking issues in the 50's caused their owner to consider moving, & NY was eager for NL baseball to return, but Cincy struck a deal to keep the team. This would've been interesting, setting them up as sort of the anti-Yankees.

Eh, I think that would cross the line into too much of "City Connect" for me. If I want to have this jersey at all I'd want it to have something to do with "District of Columbia" or just "DC."

What if... the Reds relocated to San Diego? Stadium issues prompted owner Bill DeWitt to "consider" moving out west in the 1964, and their affiliation with the PCL Padres made the most sense. Yellow is paired with red as a reference to the San Diego flag.

Yeah, it was definitly very difficult to implement properly, and I'm still not sure if I like it. I tried to stack them at the same size as well, but that was too much. Thanks! Honestly, even if I did flip the colors on the primary home, I'm not sure it would be enough to distinguish from a DC flag alt: If I do end up doing an Expos → Buffalo design, it'd probably be the Bisons. It's a little too "City Connect" for my tastes, but I don't necessarily hate it: Yeah, the slightly changed striping was absolutely intentional in referencing the DC flag. I actually like going with MiLB names for expansion/relocation teams, as it shows there is some established precedence for the name (so long as it is actually MLB quality). Maybe!

    MLB MULTIVERSE

Thanks. Yeah, I think part of it is simply how long the word "Milwaukee" is. Thanks! Thanks! That was definitely my favorite aspect of that set. This might sound a bit silly, especially after expressing my distaste for the Twins doing the same thing, but the blending was kind of intentional, as I liked how it looked & it reminded me a bit of the Rays' 90's gradient. Here's a look, though: On a purely aesthetic level, I probably prefer this look, but there's something about the navy wordmark that I like better for Tampa in particular. This may be off-base, but I wonder if the issue isn't necessarily that the jersey is navy, but rather that the logo itself leaves a bit to be desired. This idea is a bit more out-there, but maybe a full-on "District of Columbia" jersey would be better? It feels more in tune with the spirit of the "Twin Cities" alt. Since the series deals exclusively with relocation or the lack thereof, these examples wouldn't fit under the criteria. Maybe the Browns could become the Royals if they relocated to Montreal, since "Browns" doesn't really seem to fit for the city in my mind. I don't know, I'll see what I can do.

What if... Cleveland's baseball team relocated to Seattle (and changed their name)? With Cleveland's stadium lease expiring in 1964, the team looked at possibilities out west, likely just as leverage to get stadium upgrades. The forest green & red is inspired by the 2001 ASG. (This design is essentially the same as @SFGiants58's original take on the Seattle Rainiers, so huge credit goes to him.)
