What if... the Giants relocated to Tampa Bay? One of the more famous near-relocations, the Giants' owner agreed to a sale in 1992, but it was rejected by other NL owners. I kept the Giants' stripes from that era, but went back to the current, more classic-looking logos.

What if... the Dodgers remained in Brooklyn? The Dodgers left for LA in 1958, but this is how I imagine they'd look if they never did. They only had the red front number on the home white at the time, so I kept that, & added a heather pattern to the away to keep a vintage feel.

Thanks! I agree, adding purple makes for a perfect New Orleans scheme. Indeed… I think it’ll happen though, I don’t see any situation where the A’s stay in Oakland, & Vegas still seems like the best bet. Thanks! I honestly forgot the A’s elephant isn’t white in real life, as all of my concepts have always had it that way.

What if... the Athletics relocate to Las Vegas? This wasn't as close to a sure thing when I was working on it as it seems now, but it's fun to see how it might turn out. Green & gold still works well for Vegas, & I added some 'sparkle' to the gold inspired by the Golden Knights.

That makes sense. Here's a look at a "cooler" Mardi Gras scheme on the green alt: I think I still prefer the "warmer" variation myself, but this wouldn't be bad, either.
  6. Hard disagree. The Twins reestablished themselves as a navy primary team with this rebrand (although a few of the players wear red arm sleeves anyway). That setup should go to Cleveland, who has precedent for such a look in the past (with red socks): I miss when Cleveland was more red-heavy, it felt fitting & was a nice callback to the 90’s.

What if... the Pirates relocated to New Orleans? Discussions happened in the early 80's, mostly as a bluff to convince Pittsburgh to get them a better stadium. I changed athletic gold to more of an old gold, akin to the Saints.

Thanks! With regards to the A's colors, are you suggesting adjusting the actual shades, or adding black/navy to the palette, like the jersey? If you just mean tweaking the shades, what kind of adjustments would you make? To me, the two schemes look pretty similar, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something.
  9. I would be curious to see a matching "Minnesota" script, but I dig the arched away wordmark. I agreed with your sentiment about the Twin Cities alternate when it was unveiled, but the combination of just cream & navy has really grown on me. I wouldn't have hated this before the redesign, as I was open to them doing pretty much anything to improve their look. Now, I don't think it would work so well within this uniform set.

Thanks! I thought about removing the elephant since, as @SFGiants58 acutely pointed out, a lot of New Orleans fans would also be LSU fans, and the elephant is the mascot of LSU's rival school, Alabama. I eventually decided against removing it, as I don't think it would be too big of an issue.

I honestly agree, but I also prefer the Pirates in Pittsburgh as opposed to Tampa Bay. It’s one of those “we’re in the proper timeline” moments, which a lot of these teams will feel like. I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s what we’re used to, but I tend to prefer the teams we have in real-life more than most of the ones in this series, as fun as they were to do. The only reason I’d want to avoid that is that a few other teams will have that exact color scheme later on in the series. Moreover, it doesn’t really feel like a “Tampa” color scheme to me. Sure thing!
  12. I completely agree, although I’ve said as much from the beginning. This is a top-5 uniform set in baseball, don’t @ me.

Maybe, but I tried not to get too hung up on what exactly "would've" happened, as it would've then essentially just been the regular Pirates set with "Tampa Bay" on the road jersey. I wanted to take at least a little bit of creative liberty of my own with these teams, and you'll continue to see that throughout the rest of the series.

What if... the Pirates relocated to Tampa Bay? A lot of teams were looking at Tampa Bay in the 80's, and one of those teams was the Pirates. I replaced black with navy, added a "Pirates" script, and a skull-and-crossbones flag patch that syncs well with another Tampa team.

What if... the Athletics relocated to New Orleans? One of many near-relocations of the A's in this series, this one was in the late 70's, where the A's would have shared the Superdome with the Saints. I added purple to the classic green & gold to give a Mardi Gras theme.

Thanks, it's actually mainly a font called "Catchland" (essentially the Dodgers' script font), with a few modifications to make it more in-line with the old St. Louis Browns script. Thank you, I appreciate it! Thanks! Sure thing, here's a look: Will do! It was one of my favorites to follow, as well.

What if... the Browns relocated to Miami (and changed their name)? This one doesn't have as much solid evidence behind it, but St. Louis Browns owner Bill Veeck had history owning a team in Miami. The design combines Browns' style scripts with Orioles stripes & Miami colors.

What if... the Giants relocated to Toronto? (V.1: black & orange) This was very close to happening in the mid-70's, to the point where a deal was agreed upon and prototype logos + a new color scheme (more on that later on) were generated. This design combines the Jays font with the Giants colors.

    MLB MULTIVERSE

Alright guys, I’m pretty excited for this next concept series. I call it “MLB MULTIVERSE,” it’s essentially collection of “what-ifs”: either relocations of MLB teams that very nearly happened, or what certain teams would possibly look like if they never relocated in the first place. This series was heavily inspired by @SFGiants58's legendary “MLB: The Defunct Saga” and Todd Radom’s “Phantom Franchise” series on Buster Olney’s podcast. I have over 60 (!) different alternate-universe teams to show, my biggest series ever by far, so hopefully you won’t be sick of me by the time we’re done. I’m going to go in a randomized order for this series, so that even I won’t know which team will be up next each day, which should be exciting. With that, Let’s begin! MLB MULTIVERSE Arizona Athletics Atlanta Athletics Eagles (Cleveland) Baltimore Braves Cardinals Orioles (Cardinals) Orioles (Yankees) Buffalo Bisons (Expos) Bisons (Senators) Blue Jays Red Sox Boston Braves Brooklyn Dodgers Carolina Twins Chicago Athletics Dallas Athletics Texas Rangers (Braves) Denver Athletics Pirates Colorado White Sox Yankees Detroit Cardinals Houston Cardinals [Update] Buffaloes (Cardinals) Colts (Cleveland) Indianapolis Arrows (Athletics, Pirates, or Twins) Kansas City Athletics Cowboys Las Vegas Athletics Diamondbacks Flamingos (Marlins) Long Beach Angels Los Angeles Angels (Senators) Angels (Senators/Twins) Athletics Browns Angels (Browns) Louisville Athletics Miami Marlins (Browns) Milwaukee Athletics Braves Brewers (Braves) Brewers (Expos) Browns Brewers (Browns) Cardinals [Update] Brewers (Cardinals) White Sox Brewers (White Sox) Minneapolis Minnesota Giants Millers (Giants) Minnesota Vikings (Cleveland) Montreal Browns Royals (Browns) Expos (Mets) Expos (Rays) Nashville Orioles Stars (Rays) White Sox New Jersey Mets Yankees New Orleans Athletics Cajuns (Yankees) Pelicans (Cleveland) Pelicans (Expos) Pirates Pelicans (Pirates) White Sox Pelicans (White Sox) New York Giants Mets (Phillies) Pirates Reds Norfolk Tides (Expos) Tides (Marlins) Oakland Dodgers Oaks (Cleveland) Oklahoma City Thunder (Marlins) Orlando Rays Dreamers (Rays) Philadelphia Athletics Pittsburgh Tigers Portland Athletics Salt Lake Twins Bees (Twins) San Antonio Missions (Marlins) [Update] San Diego Athletics Braves Reds San Francisco Seals (Senators) Seattle Athletics Pilots Rainiers (Cleveland) White Sox St. Louis Browns St. Paul Saints (White Sox) Tampa Bay Athletics Giants Mariners Pirates Rays (Rangers) Twins Florida White Sox Toronto Giants (V.1: black & orange) (V.2: blue & green) Virginia Fury (Astros) Fury (Expos) Washington Athletics Giants Grays (Pirates) Nationals (Padres) Pandas (Padres) Stars (Padres) Orioles Senators (Rangers) Senators (Twins) Stars (Astros) Compliations by City by Team
  20. They were Nike's regular solid colored pants, it's probably just the lighting/editing of the photo. The Huskies revealed those uniforms in 2014.
  21. That shade looks similar/possibly identical to the Saints throwback shade, which they ought to be wearing full-time. The Washington Huskies also had a darker gold under Nike that in my opinion worked pretty well: But yeah, the mismatch with so little gold on the helmet & jersey didn’t work well for the Ravens.
  22. I thought adding carolina blue to the existing set might work, but I do agree that it waters it down quite a bit. I really think you could afford to substitute black for carolina blue entirely, but I get it if you prefer the red & black. It is your series, after all! EDIT: I kind of dig the idea of just making the entire base carolina blue, too.
  23. Oregon: I love the color scheme, wordmark, & use of a plaid/flannel pattern. My only recommendation would be to extend that pattern to the sleeve, as I had a similar but opposite issue with the Astros' City Connect. A pattern like that stopping at the sleeves just feels off to me. Mississippi: I love the logos and color scheme. I do agree that it needs something more, a front number would help, but I would go further & try to add stripes of some kind or something like that. Maybe light blue pinstripes and/or sleeve stripes would really put this one over the top. North Carolina: I love that script, is it a font? If so, I would love to know the name of it. I agree with everyone above that carolina blue should be incorporated somewhere, & I think red & carolina blue is the way to go. It's a great, underused color scheme that I don't believe you've used yet (beyond maybe Texas, which includes navy) Great work as always!
  24. That's fair. Personally I think there's a reason the Maryland flag is so popularly used, because it's an amazing, great-looking flag, that is applicable to a lot of different mediums. I imagined this jersey as being the newest iteration in the team's "Maryland Pride" jerseys they've worn over the past few years. Still, I understand your criticism and honestly anticipated it. Here's another idea, heavily inspired by @DenverKing's amazing "City Lights" Orioles concept. The inspiration comes from two famous neon signs in Baltimore: the wordmark is inspired by the Domino Sugars sign, and the O's cartoon bird winking is inspired by the "Natty Boh" sign. I think I still like the Maryland flag jersey more aesthetically, but this design probably (hopefully) resonates more with the city of Baltimore itself.
  25. When? I don’t remember the O’s wearing a cursive B hat at any point in their current set, or even anytime before that, actually. I completely agree about the white-panel cap, I think it’s one of the best in baseball. The O’s main uniforms in general are among the most underrated in my opinion. And, to give my thoughts about the City uniform… yeah, nothing about the reveal made this set redeem itself from the leak. There’s a reason why nobody has bothered designing on the inside of a uniform before. It’s because nobody can see it. Moreover, the pattern itself has no real connection to the city of Baltimore beyond the superfluous Nike-speak. Of course, the Reds didn’t either, but their jersey at least had the benefit of looking halfway decent despite it. Beyond that, I don’t really have much to say. The cursive B hat is alright, I guess.
