  1. Canada I was originally planning on going with a look that was inspired by the Vancouver Canadians Minor League team, but after the team unveiled their new wordmark I decided I like it more, even if it is a bit Blue Jays-esque.
  2. For what it's worth, I'd probably have the undershirt be green too, in order to help balance all of the colors out. I thought about making the last-second change to make the Nike swoosh green, but decided against it: I also thought about something like this, but I liked the no-outlines look for Brazil:
  3. Brazil (Brasil) I went with a modern, clean look incorporating Brasil's Olympic wordmark and all 3 of the iconic flag's colors.
  4. Thanks! To be honest, I think arching the wordmark clashes with the "space-age-ness" of the font as @CDCLT alluded to, so I'd honestly rather just try a full redesign.
  5. I understand this. To be completely honest, I’m not too big on this Australia set as a whole myself, their real-life uniforms didn’t offer a lot of inspiration to go off of beyond the nice color scheme. I’ll try a re-do that uses the current wordmark and incorporates some design elements from aboriginal art, which is something I’ve always wanted to do but I don’t think I’ve ever quite fully figured out how to pull off well. It will probably take a while, but if it works out I’ll fit in a post for it here.
  6. Australia As will likely be a common theme in this series, I went back to their original WBC wordmark, and went with a green-sleeve design inspired by their futuristic 2004 Olympics look.
  7. Thank you so much! Thank you! The font is called Stahls Tiffany, it's the same font the Red Sox use for their wordmarks. I'll definitely look into that cap template, too!
  8. Ironically, if the Twins were to get an ad patch (praying that we get at least one season without one), this would probably be the least bad option. The solid red on white at least pairs nicely with the wordmark.
  9. Worth noting that the previous home set’s batting helmet didn’t match the cap either (gold outline on the cap, no outline on the helmet), not that that makes it any better.
  10. I will admit, the wordmark does seem like it might look a bit “wispy” in action, I’m gonna need to see more of it in order to have a more firm judgement about it. Still, I think it’s an upgrade over the previous wordmark because it’s cleaner and more readable. This is part of why I like it so much, that they were willing to try something a bit new, that still connects to a different, more iconic aspect of their branding (the no-outline look connects really nicely with the TC.) This is what is so refreshing to me, as the Twins have never really had a wordmark that I’ve actually loved until now. As you said yourself, both of the Twins main previous wordmarks were quite a bit chunky, in different ways. This new one looks like a streamlined, modern combination that takes the best from both of them. The new uniform is essentially as close to a throwback of the Carew era as one can get these days, without going full-on throwback. As @Carolingian Steamroller said, the batting helmet really brings the connection home. There’s also traces of the 90’s Puckett & 2010’s Target Field era in the wordmarks & number font. I think this sums up nicely what I love about the redesign: everything is very clean & easy to read from any distance, while still feeling distinctly “Twins” in a modern & refreshing way. I can agree with this. Personally, I like the M* cap, but I wouldn’t mind the TC as the primary away cap. I do think the alternate needs the M* cap though, as having the TC on both the cap & the sleeves would feel redundant. I would love a white-paneled TC cap. Couldn’t agree more.
  11. Thank you! It turns out, the pinstripes on the powder blue is probably my single favorite element of the set, as it reminds me of the late 70's Cubs. Here's a look without though: I haven't found a good cap template that's compatible with Illustrator yet, if somebody knows of one though I'd love to see it. I appreciate the feedback!
  12. Argentina I went with pinstripes inspired by the country's iconic soccer uniforms, a powder blue away, and a racing stripes design on the alternate.
  13. Hello there, Since the World Baseball Classic starts tonight, I figure there'd be no better time to debut my new concept uniforms for the international teams. I'll be posting all 20 participating teams, along with 10 extra teams from the Qualifiers and past tournaments. Each team will have 3 jerseys (home, away, & alternate), & I tried to make at least one jersey for each team feature the native language of the country. World Baseball Classic x NIKE 2023 Pool A Chinese Taipei/Taiwan Cuba Italy (Italia) Netherlands (Nederland) Panamá Pool B Australia Australia Update China (中国) Czech Republic (Česko) Japan (日本) Korea (대한민국) Pool C Canada Colombia Great Britain México United States of America Pool D Dominican Republic (La República Dominicana) Israel (ישראל) Nicaragua Puerto Rico Venezuela Extras Argentina Brazil (Brasil) France Germany (Deutschland) New Zealand (Aotearoa) Pakistan (پاکِستان) Philippines (Pilipinas) South Africa Spain (España) Thailand (ประเทศไทย) I'll be going alphabetically, starting with one of the teams from the Qualifiers, Argentina. Let's begin!
  14. Personally, I think the single-layer looks nice & clean. It’s a heck of a lot easier to read from a distance. It’s interesting that you bring up the Yankees & Dodgers, which are widely considered to be two of the most classic uniforms in baseball (you could throw the Tigers in there as another example). I’m not sure why the Twins wouldn’t be allowed to try to emulate that, considering the team is one of the original American League franchises dating back to 1901. I welcome a team (especially one as desperate for a change as the Twins were) trying a new way to distribute two colors in a scheme rather than just slapping them both in the wordmark.
  15. For those (like me) who weren’t sure what this was referring to: They should have had these in the original uniform update, but this is still a solid upgrade.
  16. I appreciate uniqueness in design, as that’s kind of the central point of sports uniforms, after all. However, unique does not necessarily equal good. The shade of gold they ended up going with was way too dark (for some reason darker than the shade they tested with the 2014 All-Star Game branding), to where it blended with the red to create this awful, muddy shade that didn’t look great from any sort of distance. The only way I think the gold could have maybe worked would be if they flipped the navy & red of the wordmark so that the red & gold didn’t touch. The stripes would also have to be bigger, like the current set, because they were barely visible as they were. The Rangers and Twins both debuted that striping pattern in 1972, so I’m not sure one could say that either team stole it from the other. Plus, it’s not exactly a groundbreaking stripe design to begin with. I’ve seen so many people on Twitter say this & I don’t think I’ll ever understand why. Is it the single color script, & the thick stripe? That’s about where the similarities end. The Royals don’t wear cream, and navy is different enough from royal. If anything, the addition of gold seems like it would be more of an encroachment into Royals territory, not to mention that the Royals themselves are essentially the American League’s version of the Dodgers. The consistency is a very welcome change. That I think it looks good is an added bonus.
  17. Yea fair enough, I was just referring to anthracite in the general sense as a dark gray, but if you replace “anthracite” with “Dark Steel Gray” in my original post, the general point still stands. I think it might’ve been in Madden where there was a noticeable difference between the two, but looking at more pictures, yea it’s probably the same “Wolf Gray” that other teams are wearing. Let’s hope not.
  18. This is gonna be a hot take, but judging by this picture, switching to the ‘anthracite’ wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. That’s not to say that I’d endorse it, I just think Nike’s silver that the Seahawks & Panthers wear, for example, has gotten way too light, to the point where it almost looks white. (Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looked to me like the Patriots’ new silver pants were a shade or two darker than the Brady era ones. Those were a nice shade.) Don’t get me wrong, the anthracite has the opposite problem of being a bit too dark, but at least it’d be unmistakably gray. This is all assuming they don’t do something stupid like go with a matte-finish gray helmet, of course. Overall, I can’t say I’m optimistic about a Lions redesign. I really think they’re just 1) a white outline on the home uniform, 2) dropping the white pants, & 3) changing anthracite to regular silver, away from having a pretty perfect set. I don’t see them going straight throwback, so another full redesign is pretty concerning.
  19. Although it was hard to pick out the gold from a distance, I think in a sense it was still “noticeable” in that it really muddied up the wordmark (and stripes) a ton. Ever since the last uniform was unveiled, I kept trying to convince myself to like the gold, but I never could. It was an ambitious move to try to distance from the other navy & red teams, but I don’t think it quite stuck the landing. On the contrary, this new uniform immediately strikes me as gorgeous. The larger stripes, updated logos, & single-layer wordmark & numbers (which also accomplishes the goal of uniqueness among the sea of red & navy) are all improvements in my mind. I mean, take a look at this: Beautiful.
  20. I agree with @TBGKon in thinking that monochrome generally looks best with the darkest & lightest colors, vibrant middle shades are usually a bit much, Cleveland’s red & Baltimore’s orange being prime examples. Of the monochrome uniforms MLB has had recently, specifically within the City Connect program, I think Arizona, Colorado, Houston, and both Chicago teams work because they’re either really dark or really light. The Dodgers, on the other hand, seem to be a bit much because their shade is more in the middle ground.
  21. The powder blue & pink is a shocking choice, I wouldn’t mind it for the Marlins but can’t say I’m a fan here. I also wish the main set went a bit heavier with green as opposed to red.
  22. This is a great start! Adding on to what others have already said, although I love the shade of maroon you went with, I think adding a bit of gold back in would really take it to the next level. I really like Venezuela’s original WBC logo/wordmark, but the script you went with is really nice too. Count me as another who would love to see you continue this series with the rest of the WBC teams!
  23. Good start to this series so far! The update to Chinese Taipei is definitely an improvement, I like the dual-colored piping and the addition of the flower onto the sleeve patch, as well as the alternate. Although I prefer Cuba’s current logos, I don’t mind this more throwback-oriented approach. The sleeve patch in particular is pretty nice. The addition of gold is a creative way to distinguish Italy from some of the other blue teams, and I love the flag-colored striping on the alternate. As a general note, I don’t think you need to have any of the logos/wordmarks obscured by the sleeve, as the Nike press release this template derives from doesn’t appear to cover any of the logos up in the photos. Even though you beat me to the punch a little bit with this series (), I’m looking forward to following the rest of it!
  24. I always have & probably always will prefer the matte fabrics (maybe metallic gold & silver pants could work, I’d have to see it in action), but last night convinced me that the Eagles green now looks too dark. That could be remedied by replacing black with a regular silver (not charcoal), or lightening up the shade itself a bit, or, preferably, both. But right now, the Eagles look is way too drab, and I say that as someone who prefers the midnight green for them.
  25. This has got to be the biggest promotion of uniform concepts by a professional team that we’ve seen, no? That’s pretty cool for the designers. I don’t think any of the design choices, such as the horns on the helmet, will factor much into the actual redesign. Like @BigDmo said, most of them were likely first page Google searches. Plus, the social media team & the group actually designing the uniforms are two completely different entities. One exception to that, however: I did find it interesting that some of the designs did include the “Luv Ya Blue.” They at least seem to be leaving that open as a possibility, as if it wasn’t, they likely would have stuck to concepts only pairing the red with navy.
