  1. Baltimore Orioles City Connect It might be a bit basic to go with the Maryland flag for the O's, but it at least has more of an actual connection to Baltimore than their real jersey does. This was heavily inspired by @raysox's Maryland design for his States Baseball League Series.
  2. South Dakota: I actually like the original version more, the font reminds me of that new “Strange Worlds” Disney movie that I haven’t seen. The only thing I would maybe bring over from the update would be the brighter colors of the gradient. Idaho: This is another team where I’m not sure what I would’ve done, but the Anaheim Ducks colors work well for them. I dig it. Rhode Island: Similar to South Dakota, and like @johne9109 & @coco1997, I actually prefer the original version more. The one upgrade in the update to me is the rope on the cap, that looks awesome. I’d be curious to see what a Minnesota update would entail, because I think the original was pretty much perfect!
  3. I’ve been meaning to catch up on this series, but everything looks great! Some highlights for me so far are the Cubs cream alt, the White Sox white alt, and the Guardians’ throwbacks. The updates for the Red Sox & Rockies to each fully embrace green were both improvements. Just a couple of nitpicks, I think the Reds’ red alt could afford to drop black entirely like the rest of their set. I also think the Rockies’ green alt should be paired with white pants, since the cap has a white front panel, and the helmet should match the cap. I also would be interested in seeing a full Astros set inspired by the navy “City Connect” alt. Overall, I would encourage you to be willing to take more creative risks like that, as when you have so far, they’ve worked out nicely! I’m looking forward to seeing the remaining 2/3 of the league!
  4. I updated the background to be black, if that helps at all. Both being red was a lot. Sure, reminds me of my Canada baseball jersey:
  5. Sure thing, I toned down the red just a bit for this one because I felt that pure, bright red would be a bit much for a full jersey.
  6. Cincinnati Reds City Connect Even though it bugs me that their jersey really has nothing specifically to do with the city, the design itself isn't bad.
  7. I don't think the Reds' City uniform looks too bad from a purely aesthetic standpoint. Honestly, I think it's about as good as you can do a black-out look (besides the White Sox). The (supposedly brighter) red is necessary to give that pop & contrast to the black. I think the belt should've been red too, although I'm sure some players will do their own thing & sport a red belt (one of the most underrated tragedies of recent baseball aesthetics, along with Stance socks). It's crazy to me though that they really just flat-out admitted in the press release that the uniform has little-to-nothing to do with the city itself, but rather that they just wanted to appeal to younger audiences. The Nike-speak for this one is really at an all-time low, as well. It just further supports my take that this City program, despite bringing about some nice design elements here & there, was really half-baked as a concept for MLB. As for the Orioles leak, yeesh. Even if the uniform ends up having a front number (which is still possible, as replicas normally don't include them), that jersey is as plain as all get-out. It makes me think they might do something pretty crazy with the pants and/or the cap, but still, not looking to be a great uniform for Baltimore. I would have much preferred a Maryland/Baltimore flag inspiration, as basic as that would be.
  8. Catching up again: Louisiana: Looks great. Like others have said, I love the cap logo, font, & fleur-de-lis(es? Is that the plural?). Maybe the sleeve striping could match the in-line style of the font, if that makes sesne? Arkansas: The font choice & diamond logo are both really nice. It feels right for them without deriving from the college team at all. Great job! Maryland: Love it! Incorporates the iconic flag nicely without being at all overbearing. My only suggestion would be that the red “M” on the cap might get a little lost from a distance, I’d personally go with white, but I think yellow would work too. New Jersey: I’m not sure what color scheme I would have picked for them, but this feels right. I love the script, and the decision to go with a gold base was a good one! Ohio: The racing stripes are great, and the font feels right. Another hit! New Mexico: As expected, I adore the color scheme! Unfortunately, I fear the red might still get lost on the turquoise background (especially since they’re pretty much complimentary colors, things will tend to muddle). I think a white outline or flipping the colors on the wordmark would probably be best. I also agree with @TheGiantsFan that the “Zia” symbol might work better for the cap logo due to its simplicity. Maine: Looks good! The cap logo is great, and the jersey gives me a bit of Expos vibes, which is fitting for the region. Oklahoma: I was a bit hesitant with the color scheme at first, but it is a bit of a nice blend between the Sooners and the Thunder. The “O” logo is very nice and perfect for the state, and the striping on just the collar is a very unique but nice look. South Carolina: One of my favorites so far! I love the font, and incorporating the palmetto & crescent moon was a must. This is completely random, but I’ve long felt that like a color something like this below (almost a clay color) would pair well with the navy for South Carolina, although the navy looks great on its own, too: Georgia update: I honestly preferred the black with pinstripes, as that was a unique look, but the navy looks good too. Maybe peach pinstripes or something would help liven it up a bit more. Looking forward to the second half of teams! Amazing work all around so far!
  9. I mean… This is pretty much the definition to me of an “eyesore.”
  10. To be honest I think the Mariners wordmark looks like it's missing something without the dot to the "i." The redundancy of the M-trident is a valid criticism though, as that was something I was concerned with going in as well. Originally I had a compass rose S logo prepared, as the sock leak suggested they were going with: Maybe this patch would work better on the home & alternate jerseys. If I were to add a teal stripe on the navy alt, then I would need to add a navy stripe as well, as I wouldn't want the teal touching the white or silver, just as it does not in the wordmark. In my opinion, that would be a bit too strange of a striping pattern to add in. I went with the two-stripe pattern because previous Mariners jerseys have used it.
  11. This is a great analysis, you even might have changed my mind a bit. I guess I'm just a bit disappointed that we didn't see other aspects of those cities highlighted, as at the very least I would have liked to maybe learn more about the city itself. My thinking is that, if you're gonna do the City program (which I prefer they never did), you might as well go all-in. But I can see why some teams might be hesitant to do that given their tradition & brand. Interestingly, I think some of the more storied franchises in baseball could have afforded to make their City Connects more baseball-inspired, I'm thinking of the Red Sox in particular. Although I don't hate the Marathon-inspired jersey, my concept for them focused on the Green Monster, which I think would've fit better with their existing brand: I imagine the Yankees will take a similar route once they're forced to get a City Connect, going with something inspired by themselves as opposed to the city of New York. It also makes sense that the Cubs went the Wrigley Field route, as that's about as inherently tied to Chicago as anything.
  12. My “issue” so far this year is not that some of the jerseys are region-inspired as opposed to city-inspired, but rather that all three designs so far are inspired by their respective baseball histories rather than representing the city at large. I probably shouldn’t be complaining, as that approach at least keeps the designs closer in proximity to the teams’ regular branding, but it just feels like a bit of a cop-out from the whole “City” idea. It makes me think my “Cooperstown Collection” idea might have been a better approach, with each club taking inspiration from their baseball history rather than the city they play in, which was a cheap copy of the NBA to begin with.
  13. Thanks! I tend to agree, I think this would be a solid approach if the Mariners were to get a (needed) redesign. Thank you! Your feedback of the navy alt is very fair, I'm honestly not as in love with the silver/teal beveling as I thought I'd be. Something like this would probably be better, and would be more cohesive with the rest of the set: My only issue with it is that there isn't much teal, but I suppose that's okay for this one jersey, since the rest of the set features it a bit more prominently than the team currently does. Thanks again for the feedback!
  14. If that’s their thinking, then that would still seem to be a good enough reason to change the uniforms to go in that direction, as well.
  15. I think I prefer my original neo-retro concept, but this wouldn't be a bad premise for an M's redesign:
  16. The M’s City Connect jersey is very nearly perfect. I’d go as far as to say it’s my favorite jersey the Mariners have ever had in blue & yellow. The only thing I’m not big on is the patch logo and, as sort of a reverse of the Rangers, I wish they went with navy instead of black. I also would’ve used black/navy for the middle stripe, but that’s a minor quibble. The pants though… yeah, oof. That decision really takes this set down more than a few notches. I’m not even someone that thinks baseball pants need to always be lighter colors, I’ve welcomed Nike’s experimentation with darker pants with City Connects like the Rockies, Astros, & the Rangers’ recent ones. But this simply does not look right. Blue pants would have even been tolerable, & white pants would’ve made this uniform glorious. I wouldn’t have even minded the dark brim on the cap, as that option would’ve been equally as valid as a blue or yellow brim. Overall, this could’ve ended up easily becoming one of the best City Connects, but it ended up being one of the most disappointing.
  17. Seattle Mariners City Connect The M's new City Connect jersey is pretty much perfect, it's the pants where things go south. I just changed the black to navy & replaced the patch with the new "M-trident." I'll likely be back with an attempt at a full redesigned set in the navy & teal inspired by this design.
  18. Nice start so far! I like the Diamondbacks quite a lot, the full-name alternate is especially interesting, how did you manage to make that? Since the “D-Backs” alternate is so similar, I think you could probably just drop it. For the Braves, the “triple piping” on the alternates makes them look a bit busy to me, maybe you could try dropping the white from the stripes & see how that looks? Looking forward to seeing more!
  19. You already know I love this idea, but I’ve been meaning to give more in-depth feedback on all the teams as I can since Twitter isn’t quite as conducive to that, so here it is: Florida: I said as much on Twitter, but I really feel like a Tennessee shade of orange (I know, ironic) would fit better for them. The highway inspiration is interesting, but if I’m not mistaken, don’t most states have green & yellow highway signs? I live in Florida as well so I honestly can’t remember. Meanwhile though, oranges are uniquely and quintessentially Florida, to where they even appear on the license plates (which maybe you could take inspiration from as opposed to the highway signs). I don’t know, that’s just my 2¢. Tennessee: Love it. I think a white front panel might work best for the home cap, but that might get you too much into Vols territory. Each of the options you presented look great, though. California: Looks great! Not much to say beyond that I like the unique color scheme combined with the traditional aesthetic. Utah: The logo & wordmark are both genius, especially the subtlety of the “U.” I would love to see a color scheme closer to the Jazz red rocks City jersey, though. Nevada: Similar to Utah, I love the cap state hidden in the logo. Georgia: One of my favorites of the series for sure, The inclusion of peach is a natural decision but looks gorgeous. Indiana: Love the checker-stripe pattern! Minnesota: You did my family’s home state proud! I love the color scheme, wordmarks, cap logo, striping, it all flows together beautifully. New York: A classic look for a classic state. I particularly dig the vertical sleeve stripes. Colorado: I like the color scheme, but there seems to be a disconnection between the cap logo & the wordmark. Personally, I prefer the wordmark, I’d be curious if you could create a cap logo based off of that. Texas: I know the wordmark is supposed to say “Texas,” but it’s difficult to read it that way because of the different colors. I know you want to avoid deriving too much inspiration from college teams, but I feel like Longhorns burnt orange would work great in some capacity for Texas, maybe. Hawaii: Love the colors & wordmarks! Michigan: Similarly, I dig the color scheme & font. Virginia: The “V-heart” logo is great, I wonder if the red could drift more towards pink for some extra uniqueness? Arizona: Perfect. Just perfect. Sorry, I know that was a lot, but I wanted to be sure to catch up with all the teams so far. I’ll try to keep up more regularly from now on! Can’t wait to see the rest!
  20. Texas Rangers City Connect I like the Rangers' City uniform, so I just added the "rope" striping from the socks onto the sleeves. Like the Braves, I also added a "team-colors" version because I couldn't decide which I liked better.
  21. Atlanta Braves City Connect I honestly think their uniform is fine, so I wouldn't change anything, but I added a black & red version, which fits with the color scheme I gave them and is a more fitting civic color scheme for the city of Atlanta.
  22. I'm back with some City Connect tweaks! I'll post the Braves first and then the Rangers later this afternoon.

    MLB x NIKE, TAKE II

Thanks! It's kind of sad to go back through this thread and see that a lot of the images seem to be missing, but oh well. I'd be happy to let you use the template! Let me know via message if there's anything you need me to send you. Looking forward to seeing your ideas!
  24. I never said that they needed a more unique scheme, just that it would be nice. And more unique doesn't necessarily mean they have to be the most unique.
