    Marshawn Lynch is co-founding an arena football team in Oakland called the Oakland Panthers. (Original story: here) Yeah, he's naming it after the 60's Black Panthers but it wouldn't surprise me if they cribbed off the comic book character/movie quite a bit for the uniforms and mascot. Hey, if you're going to piss away your post-retirement money, might as well do it entertaining others.

    Thanks for the rabbit hole. One minute in and they're playing a recording of the National Anthem by a "Grammy Award winner". I'd say who it was, but a plane was flying over the stadium at the time so I couldn't make it out. Here's some testimony from a guy who actually runs a semi-pro league. The saddest part? The only comments on the video are a guy who "hopes he can go pro" and another guy replying hoping he does too.

    Difference being most Americans probably can identify the Chiefs logo as the Chiefs logo while you're more likely to get a knowing reaction walking around with a shirt with say, this: than you would with the New York Streets logo. Sans context, the Streets logo looks more like guerrila marketing for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie than it does a football logo.

    Mrw Montreal has caught the stupidity virus. Again, gambit or not, this is Browns fans thinking they'll win the Super Bowl level of stupid.

    Even if it is a gambit (and it appears to be), it's still a very stupid gambit. Usually when teams try to demand a taxpayer-funded palace that 90% of the aforementioned taxpayers will never be able to afford to go to, they usually use a separate city exclusively as a proverbial gun to the head of local/state governments. This is the equivalent of painting a banana to look like a gun while pretending its a gun.

    When Dukey V is able to come up with a coherent sentence that isn't about ACC basketball and look smarter than the braintrust at MLB, something is very wrong.

    Say what you will about the US, we're not using slaves to build state-of-the-art stadiums nor would the US World Cup require moving the event to November due to it being 122 degrees in the summer. This event also wouldn't bankrupt the US. Do the people running the Olympics/FIFA get off on leaving developing countries with white elephants they can't possibly maintain?

    [checks date of story] This story didn't come out on April 1st? They're actually serious?! This has to be, without a doubt, the absolute dumbest idea I've ever heard. And they expect both cities to give them new stadiums they'll use for half the season?! Someone needs to give the Rays owner a mental health test for the sake of MLB.

    Okay, I was wrong that the Predators weren't revived. The fact that they're getting a lukewarm reception should be a big red flag to the Storm.

    Isn't the NAL allegedly in financial trouble (not that any of these leagues aren't but they're particularly in trouble)? They probably could get a pretty good draw still but if they're going to bring back the Storm, the Predators should return too.

    I get this a lot too. I say where I'm from and people assume it's in Kansas. No, the important one with the barbecue, Chiefs, Royals and population is in Missouri.

    Because Deadspin is on par with Buzzfeed in reliability. Sometimes you see a good article but most of the time you get schlock that is designed to get clicks whether you agree or disagree with the article in question. And sometimes its out and out fake news.

    Only way I can see some sort of interleague play work is if these leagues had a championship tournament to determine the best team in indoor football. The real question for that though would be why?

    At least C David Baker is an equal opportunity scammer. He'll rip you off if you're rich or poor. Oh no, I've never had memories of going to Brigade games the three years they were in town. I'm not bitter at all.

    I guess your only solace regarding punishment for him would have to wait until he dies. Then again, doesn't hurt that he networked with NFL owners and that's probably why he's still near the game at all. At least the amount of damage he can do here is minimized.

    C David Baker basically gave a team to anyone who could pay the expansion fee regardless if they could continue running the team and what a 5-year old would expect to happen out of that did. Since then, arena football has sort of become a version of minor league football without any official relationship to professional teams.

    I was at this game when it happened. Should've known this day was going to be weird due to the Chiefs wearing white at home. Trent Green was lying on the ground for 10 minutes as the roster of convicts and degenerates Marvin Lewis called his players were taunting him as he was writhing in agony.
