I prefer the double stripe over the plain white pants. But I also really liked the previous single stripe with the checkers. It was a subtle and clever way to integrate another part of their identity into the uniforms. It did not drastically change their design and was still a traditional look. I also liked how it matched the helmet. From the front, it was the same Tennessee we all knew but had a little extra flair on the back of the helmet.

I’m pretty sure I’ve made the argument here somewhere that UK should drop the checkers from their identity because it’s always felt more Tennessee than UK. I still stand by that, but for right now, UK has completely transformed their identity around checkers and Tennessee has dropped them. It should stay that way.

The Utah Jazz have a Top 5 identity in the NBA

I think that original rebrand in 2016 was fantastic. I'm not a huge fan of the orange jersey, in fact I'm not huge on any of the alternates used since that rebrand but at least they stay within the color scheme unlike a lot of other teams

    Maybe something like this?

On the left, how what you suggested would appear on a purple background, so on a purple cap for instance. On the right, how it would appear on a white background, with the purple included as an additional outline.

That's too many outlines, I agree with Punchy, purple and old gold is enough.

  4. I think you really knocked it out of the park on all of these. Nashville is stunning and the updates to SD and London are fantastic. Cincinnati and New Orleans look great to. I do have one idea with the Shamrocks though, I think the C-Clover logo can break out of that roundel to become the helmet logo by itself. Similar to Chicago having just the C on their helmet.

  5. Ugh, why does it all bend. The CLT mark is pretty underwhelming too, the only cities who can abbreviate their names are cities with 2 or more words. NYC, LA, STL for example. ATL, CLT, neither of those work. The C logo, in theory is alright, albeit boring and lifeless. The 49ers logo, or just the 9ers logo, both look awful, the pickaxe in the 9 looks awkward as can be. I think as bad as the original was, this really isn't all that much better.

    Name makes perfect sense locally.

Florence has a giant watertower that says FLORENCE Y'ALL.  Why you ask?  Well, it was originally for the mall it's located next to.  But, because they can't advertise for the mall on the watertower, so they switched the M to a Y and...well...now they have a giant water tower that says FLORENCE Y'ALL.  It's truthfully a pretty silly looking water tower.  It's big.  It's red.  It's striped.  It says...FLORENCE...Y'ALL.  But it's undoubtedly Florence.  It's a land marker.

The name sounds silly for anyone not in the region (I've driven past it probably 50 times from Lexington).  But it makes sense for the team who plays directly across the mall and the water tower.  It's what Florence is colloquially known for.  It makes it solid for a Frontier League team.  It'd never work as a national team (evidenced by the questions on it.  No offense either, I didn't know about this semi-monstrosity before I moved to KY), but it doesn't need to here.

Saw this thread pop up and knew it was a matter of time before someone had to explain the backstory, way to beat me to it.

On to the actual uniforms. I usually wouldn't like a powder blue pullover for a team, in fact I don't know a single instance in which I have off the top of my head. But man I can't say no to this set, the whole brand is one of the best in the minors.

All the KY minor league teams all have great brands and I really couldn't ask for less.

Knicks should never wear anything that isn't white at home. It doesn't look right. People say the same for the Celtics and Bulls. But to me the one that annoys me the most is the Knicks. It just doesn't look right when they're wearing blue or god forbid navy under the bright lights of the garden

Every team that aren't named the Los Angeles Lakers should wear white at home. The Lakers should wear yellow. The occasional throwback or alternate is okay, but 95% of a teams home games should be played in their white uniform

If Major League Baseball ever expands to the Raleigh-Durham area, they should be called the Durham Bulls, promoting the historic brand to the majors.

It should be Carolina Bulls but I agree, any city that gets an MLB team with minor league history should name their team after the minor league team. Like the Portland Beavers, and Charlotte Knights if they were to choose Charlotte over Raleigh.
