Everyone is entitled to their opinion and all opinions are right b/c they are just that, your opinion, but to me that 35/36 look I do not think will translate well to a modern template.

Sleeves are so short now and the cuts make that different sleeve color and yoke look just not work well. Again just my opinion. I do like those I just don't think they work well on the current jersey cuts.

Wouldn’t it just be a green jersey with yellow sleeve caps? I feel like that would work fine.

  2. I pretty much agree with everything @QCS said, although I will say the Shamrocks new roundel is a small step back from the last version. The spike on the C feels a bit odd, considering it’s a block font, and the roundel itself is very busy. I think the C and clover would make a fine logo on its own that fits more into football aesthetics anyway.

I also adore the Winnipeg update, that’s a gorgeous look.

The reason is because the county Hodgenville is in is LaRue County, named for  pioneer John P. LaRue, who settled with his family in what would become Hodgenville. John LaRue's family is then traced back to Abraham LeRoux, who moved from France to the US in the late 17th century.

If you want a more exciting person to base a LaRue County school on though, why not Abraham Lincoln? He was born there after all.

Backtracking on that chrome wall of hell. Why the hell did they make the Jags helmet chrome gold instead of black? Not that it really matters.

All the black helmets look gold and all the navy ones are royal.
    They all look awful though.

I'd be fine if the Cardinals changed to something similar to this redesign by Mark Omlor. The red helmet strays from tradition, but it looks great. It ties in the Arizona Flag, uses a traditional design with a slight modern flair, and the single color logo looks surprisingly good.

I’m actually all for this if the current helmet goes untouched. Red shell and facemask with an all white logo strays too far from their history. But if you take their current classic helmet, and pair it with these uniforms, I’d be all for it.

Interested if it would be a custom block too. Would prefer that over some modern Michigan St esq look.

    Y’all really think this-

    looks better than this?

IMO, anytime a helmet and facemask are the same color (outside of white and black), it looks very cheap.

A prime example of a team that would look best with a grey facemask.

I just don't see grey as a neutral color at all, regardless of the unique, old-fashioned traditions within baseball. I mean, this board coined terms like GFGS for a reason, right? Otherwise, I think that uniforms like these might wouldn't get so much hate.

I think andrewharrington said it for me

It’s just context. Grey isn’t intended to be neutral in any of these. It’s the star of the show, which is why it doesn’t communicate the same way

Those uniforms are horrible, they try and center around grey unnecessarily. That's why they're GFGS. The grey facemask isn't GFGS because it's just the neutral color of the equipment.

I really don't understand how people hate it so bad. It's one thing to prefer then to be colored, it's another thing to despise it this much. It looks good.

I don't hate colored facemasks, there's some situations where they look better than grey, but usually they don't. I wouldn't have a single problem if every team swapped to grey facemasks right now.

Need somebody to explain to me how a grey facemask works with this helmet

Didn't you just post this right before this and get proven wrong? The Cardinals are over 100 years old. If there's a teams that's going to have a grey facemask its them. That helmet hasn't changed in decades, changing it now would be disastrous.

I know, I know, it's "chrome", but still... yeah, gray don't work with that helmet. So glad Tampa came to their good senses and got rid of that mess...

That's why I said there's a handful of teams that wouldn't benefit from grey facemasks, black works much better for the Bucs. That said I still don't hate it. If it wasn't chrome it would be fine. See @oldschoolvikings concept for reference.

  10. The hate for gray facemasks is stupid. It's like the grey away uniforms in baseball, it's a neutral color that works for every possible helmet in the NFL. There's only like a handful of teams I don't think would benefit from wearing a grey face mask permanently.

Can't prefer that original logo while it's got packing peanuts on its head.

Used to be in this camp but with time I’ve learned to appreciate how much simpler the old one is compared to the newer one.
The shading and tiny details in the spots don’t work from far away imo.

It still isn’t a bad logo though.

  12. Jags don’t need gold. I think it’s fine on the logo but it doesn’t need to go on the uniforms. Does it look bad on the uniforms no? But it looks fine without.

Also in the same vein, with all the talk of the jags inaugural uniforms, they aren’t as good as I remember them being. Still maybe the best they’ve worn, but it’s a much closer competition to their current uniforms. I’d actually even throw the piping nightmare uniforms into that ring. I’m not sure why but some uniforms that feature piping works.

  13. Gonna reiterate a lot of the stuff QCS said. I like the Barons, really big fan of the name. I don't think the helmet logo is too complex. Its a nice alternate. I think the brick design is a miss though. Toronto looks the best yet, but I'd swap the leaf on the shoulders for numbers and you need to add the shoulder striping to the back of the home uniform. Charlotte and Minnesota at both great updates. I love the Evergreens especially. I think the only change I'd make is dropping the helmet stripe for Charlotte. Finally, Dallas and Atlanta look good too. I love the copper and blue for Dallas. I agree with QCS though that each of their word marks are a bit big.

    Great work!

I feel like I'm about to rustle some feathers, but I also somewhat liked the Jags' pre-Nikefied uniforms, worn for their first year with Nike. They were pretty much the more detailed version of their current set, albeit with the awesome teal-flake helmet.

I have to agree. I’d actually go as far as to say it’s better then the two uniforms that came after it. Them and the Falcons were the only teams to make the piping not look terrible. I enjoyed both those uniforms.

I think @SSmith48 puts it best. Make gold pants the primary away combination (which he stated was his plan) and maybe change the number font. This is all San Francisco needs.

All San Francisco needs to do is not touch their primary uniforms. They look great as is. This is a downgrade.

I started watching football in the 2000's, I don't care for the weird and out there 90's throwbacks. They look bad and how successful they were in them doesn't take away from that.

Just make the red jersey the home primary, go white/white on the road, and if you must have navy, keep the Color Rush around for 1 game.

    Navy/Red/white: 6 home games

Navy/white/white: home opener and 7 road games

Navy/Navy/Navy (color rush): 1 home game

    Navy/white/navy(CR pants): 1 road game

I actually really like this idea. Although I’d make some small changes. I’d swap the color rush for their current home uniform (navy over white) since I don’t think a team needs a color rush uniform anymore. (I could be wrong on that but New England only had two uniforms from what I saw) Also the one game in white over navy is pretty pointless. I’d either drop navy pants completely or wear it once or twice more. Maybe even match it up with the now new red home uniform, which they’ve looked good doing before.

I’m shocked at the criticism towards Houston uniforms as well. Their brand is great and they have a classic uniform. Maybe even top ten in the league.
