  1. Welp, Syracuse-UConn's looking like it's heading the way of UConn-BC..
  2. The Big East now has Tulane and the WAC added Grand Canyon University. Yep, conference realignment's gone off the rails.
  3. How in the heck did BC wanted to get in the BIG? Where did you hear them McD29? The past page of mumbling
  4. Where the hell are we getting these BC to Big Ten ideas from? That's like.. the 12th most attractive team in the ACC for the Big Ten at this point. I don't care about the BAWSTON MAJAH MAWHKET, New England cares way less about college football than the NYC and DC markets for goodness sakes. BC hasn't done anything in football besides 2007 in the ACC, hasn't done anything in basketball since coming to the ACC, and although has hockey, the New England market's so divided between a bunch of college hockey schools that your BTN gain isn't going to be as large as down in the other two markets. Not to mention the Big Ten, Notre Dame aside, would much rather raid the ACC of the large, public, land-grant schools before a private school. That means your UVA, UNC, GT, and whatnot would be far above the list over BC. The BC-(maybe) Duke-Miami (now that they're gonna get nuked)-Syracuse-Wake Forest combo's kinda stuck in the ACC regardless through all of the remaining realignment due to their private school status, for better or for worse.
  5. Here's the thing with these four 16-team superconferences.. if the playoff system goes to the 4 conference champs.. that renders half of college football useless, including the whole northeast should it be the Big XII that survives and not the ACC aside from maybe Penn State if they can recover from the next four years of sanctions (no, I'm not expecting Maryland or Rutgers to ever compete for that B1G bid). If it does indeed go to that auto-bid system, should they just put the other 60 teams in another subdivision so that they're not just taking up space and at least compete for something? You know, make it I-AA and the FCS into I-AAA or something like that. Basketball and non-revenue sports I'm not that worried about, as either a weakened ACC or Big XII could survive that, as will an all-Catholic/hoops only Big East. I still think FWIW we're gonna sit on 14 for a while before we get into this 16-team endgame, probably later in the decade, but still.
  6. That is what I think too. As I said, FSU will be their choice if the NC schools stand strong. That said, I wouldn't mind if Clemson GT and FSU bolted for the Big 12 to help the fun rivalry with the SEC. That would make the SEC and Big 12 bunk buddies in a lot of states. Thinking out loud here, but with Cincy and Louisville ripe for the taking, you think they'd go for those two plus.. idk I'd guess FSU and Clemson, right? UConn looks like the practical swap for Maryland regardless in the ACC. And that all puts everyone in the 12-14 range aside from the Big East I would think
  7. I never really cared for or liked the old Mighty Ducks of Anaheim primary uniforms. Quite frankly I wish they adopted the two alternates they had in the late 90s as full-time primaries and adopt a purple third jersey in that style instead.
  8. I have to say that's a pretty good stretch of concerts.. well, unless the Jingle Ball is like Z100's Jingle Ball. But TSO and Bruce will do
  9. Davidson has rejected an offer to go to the CAA and will stick to the SOCON for now
  10. On a different note... might as well completely wipe Kansas City off any possible NHL city list AND THAT MEANS YOU EVERYONE AT HFBOARDS AND YOUR "ZOMG COYOTES AND/OR ISLANDERS TO KC!?!?!" THREADS, as they've got a very small crowd tonight for college hockey, with a pretty good lineup no less
  11. Florida State's not moving. Unless y'all got 50 million dollars to blow, it's the ACC. Getting out of buyouts is easy. FSU's president called it "punitive" and said a good businessman never puts himself in something he can't get out of. Hell, the two new ACC teams got their buyout reduced. Even got to come over a year early. Huh? We had to pay more (I think we paid $10M to get in 2013 either instead of or on top of the $5M after an agreement) to get into the ACC early. Also, I don't think the $50M part is getting to you. That's two years of athletic revenue you're talking about there, plus the fact that it's a public school means anything outside of athletic money isn't going to fly over well. I mean, yeah there's still the idea of FSU jumping ship, but it's looking way harder to pull that off the longer this goes, plus I'm sure FSU could try to get their way again with TV contract re-renegotiations on the way with ND coming in.
  12. ACC Lacrosse is going to be the most ungodly strong conference in any college sport I've ever seen
  13. Also a huge development from this in regards to the FSU and Clemson rumors we heard all summer: the ACC exit fee's skyrocketed to $50M. That's about as ironclad as you can get.
  14. Loyola, who just came off winning their first national championship in May, is heading to the Patriot League next year
  15. According to Newsday, Albany and Stony Brook are heading out of the America East and heading into the Colonial. I'm excited for this one because it means Hofstra-Stony Brook will become a permanent rivalry like it should be (they haven't played each other in much of anything for some reason as of late) and it should help keep the basketball conference competitive after they lost some members.
  16. I don't think I've brought this up, but I think white uniform-white pants in football is way too plain. I absolutely can't stand, for instance, when the Jets wear their white pants on the road rather than the green. Give me some color with the pants choice rather than an all-white look
  17. Syracuse will be playing in the ACC in 2013. They've (or we've I guess if it's the university I attend) come to a settlement with the Big East for $7.5M. Still no word on what's gonna happen with Pittsburgh yet
  18. I guess this fits in here, but the B1G-Pac 12 scheduling alliance is now dead
  19. That video... looks like it was done by a 15 year old for a class project. Yeah.... that's actually kinda fitting
  20. I've seen a lot of love for the Devils' retro uniforms they wear around St. Patrick's Day and the desire for them to be alternates. I don't really like them enough for them to be full time alts, and quite frankly I'd rather see the Devils with a black alternate full time. It'll never happen on Lou's watch, but if a team could pull off a black alternate well and without anyone crying BFBS, it's the Devils
  21. Well, there's your answer. Next week, it'll be "WHY AREN'T THE SHARKS ON NBC?!?" and "THE DEVILS DIDN'T REALLY MAKE MONEY THIS YEAR AND THEY MADE THE STANLEY CUP FINALS. LET'S MOVE THEM AND THE ISLANDERS TO PORTLAND AND SASKATOON WHERE THEY CARE MORE ABOUT HOCKEY THAN NEW YORK!!!1" Maybe even some "The Winter Classic should be Avalanche-Wild/eliminated because it's obviously a gimmick and Bettman sucks"
  22. Hmm, so the plot thickens.. If they can get this to work and the demand's decently high, even if it's via Devil fans in addition to Islander fans, I'd welcome it as an alternative to Nassau and would be excellent for keeping the Isles here in the NYC area
  23. I'm going to take that a step further and say I liked this Mets jersey when it was used for BP
  24. 8-Ball was finally caught in possession of crack
