So are these new blue panther pants? If I recall, they wore blue pants with the original color rush run and those had the panther head on the hips IIRC.
The Pants logo was removed from all of their pants as a consequence of switching from the old Reebok template to the Nike Vapor Untouchable template in 2019, after David Tepper took over the team.

A few players on the 49ers, at least Aiyuk and Jennings on the Offense, are wearing Red leggings instead of White leggings, and look so much better than the rest of their teammates.

The Vikings really went from Bud Grant's uniformity to an all purple color rush on Thanksgiving last year where Justin Jefferson selfishly wearing black socks actually marginally improved the look.
I love JJ, he's a great Wide Receiver and hope he's healthy, but his Socks/Leggings choices aren't the best. He always wears White Leggings, even when the rest of the team has Purple on. He was the only player wearing White Leggings during the Week 1 Throwback game when everyone else had the traditional Half-Purple/Half-White Socks, for instance.

Side note, when watching the Jon Bois History of the Minnesota Vikings documentary, one of the first few things he mentions about Bud Grant's coaching tenure is that to promote a sense of unity, he always made his players wear their purple socks the same (correct) way. We need that in today's NFL.
Yeah, I watched that docuseries too. And as a Vikings fan, I knew a lot of what was said in it, but it was still fascinating. On topic of the discussion, unfortunately, the "uniformity" part of "uniform" is non-existent now.

Vikings confirm another "Winter Whiteout" for the Week 16 Home Game versus the Detroit Lions. I'm guessing this unfortunately means White Leggings again as they did last year. https://www.vikings.com/winter-whiteout
Trust me, when they wear Purple Socks, I LOVE the White-on-White look. The White Socks/Leggings just ruin the look.
And TBH, if they HAD to make a Whiteout game a new tradition, it would be the perfect excuse for a White Throwback to be added into the rotation to go along with the Purple Throwback. Also, it would be a great reason to kill off their Color Rush.

ESPN, ABC, and FOX has a period from the 90s to the mid-late 2000s where many parts of graphics packages, and the score bugs, would use helmet logos for teams rather than the actual primary logos. You could tell because the Vikings and Rams would have their horn, Eagles would have their wing, Bengals their stripes, and the Browns would either be an orange blob, or their helmet stripes, depending on the network or graphics package era. I feel like the Vikings, Eagles, and Rams helmet logos work much better in application for score bugs than their primary logos due, thanks to being less tall and more wide.

After watching the Ravens last night, it bugs me so much that their black pants are just solid, much like the Saints. I hate inconsistency. The Ravens purple and white pants have stripes, but not their black pants. The Saints gold pants have a stripe, but not their black or white pants. Idk, it just really bugs me.
On that note though, if there’s one team that does all-black right it’s the Ravens for the simple fact that they don’t overdo it. They save it for one (or two) special/big games per season. If only the Saints could take a note from them instead of just wearing the all-black for every home game. It’s just not that special or cool when it’s worn out.
And just like the Saints, they also used to have Striped Black pants, which for some reason, they don't have anymore. They only had Striped Black pants in 1996 and 1997.
Hell, they even used to have White Striped socks until 2005!

LOVE it! Thank god it's not Color Rush. (We have one more alt jersey use left, it better not be the CR.)
Two things could make this uniform matchup a perfect '60's throwback...

CBS for Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. NBC did for the first time for Super Bowl LII in 2018, and FOX for the first time for Super Bowl LIV in 2020. Beforehand, they would just show up randomly once the preseason started every few years.
Update: I completely forgot, ABC Sports unveiled new graphics during Super Bowl XL in 2006. They unfortunately only lasted seven months before ABC Sports was killed off and ESPN on ABC took its place.

When did networks start changing their graphics package in line with the Super Bowl?? Who was the first and when did it just become the norm?
NBC's college package is slick.

It really bugs me how the Panthers have gotten into more mixing-and-matching the past few years. While their uniforms aren’t the greatest, their once default road all-white uniforms were really
nice looking, especially paired with blue socks. They never needed to be paired with black pants/socks. Some things should really just be left alone.
It’s only a matter of time before they try white jerseys/silver pants…
As has ben said, they's done it before, and I would be in favor if them doing it more often. They wear Silver helmets, and like the Lions, Cowboys, Raiders, and Patriots don't need White pants. Silver pants are the best looks these teams have (and all the Raiders and Cowboys should have.)

On the recent Saints talk, if they don't decide to switch to their Throwback/CR, I would totally be in favor of them flipping the color of the numbers on their White jerseys to Gold, like they were from 1996-1998, before they switched to their current uniforms in 1999. Re-adding the Gold stripe to their Black pants, like they had in 1999, would also make a difference.

Interesting. Maybe this is supposed to be a full graphics refresh for NBC Sports. While I'm always on the side of a top/corner of the screen scorebug, I don't dislike this one. Curious if if/when it will go to the rest of NBC Sports and the local NBCSN stations, as they're still using the 2015 graphics package

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was today the first time since February 2008 that the old NFL logo was seen on an NFL field? The Seahawks used it for their Throwback end zone today. All the Throwback fields that have graced the league the past decade and a half have used the modern NFL logo. The old AFC/NFC logos were seen on Throwback fields in previous years, but not the old NFL logo.

Yeah, Turner Sports is now TNT Sports. Even for broadcasts not on Turner Network Television. Ernie was calling it TNT Sports during the MLB on TBS studio show during the NLDS, and during promos for the NLCS alt cast on TruTV.

Following suit with the Dolphins, 49ers, and Giants of having a home & away throwback set would be fantastic for Minnesota.
Vikings would have two options for a Road Throwback. I feel like our fanbase would be really split as for which to go for. There's the 1961-1968 Road Uniform, which is an inverse of the Home uniform and has both White and Purple pants options, and there's the much more well known 1969-1995 Road Uniform, which is what most people think of when they hear "Vikings White Throwback".
versus
(p.s., while I love our current throwbacks, I wish we used the striped socks like we did from 1961-1964 with our current Throwback. Besides the 1994 NFL 75 Throwback games, the Vikings haven not worn striped socks since the 1965 Preseason,)

AFAIK, this is the first time I've seen any of the four networks use a throwback logo in sync with a team's corresponding uniform set for an NFL game.
I'd surely like to see more of this now that gates have been opened. Not sure how willing designers would be to, for example, implement the Phillies' classic maroon cap logo into to elements of Fox's current MLB graphics package. And I can't remember how often we've seen this with the NBA on TNT or likewise for ESPN, but they at least follow the color schemes very well on scoreboards.
It has happened before. Last I remember was in 2015 when ESPN used the old Dolphins logo on MNF for their first Throwback game.

Vikings are unfortunately wearing mono Purple tonight. Had the local news on from KSTP, our ABC affiliate here in the Twin Cities, and during a report from the Stadium, caught players in the background with mono-Purple.

The Patriots wearing a cohesive good-looking uniform during this decade? Who woulda thought!
Now if only the Bills wore Blue Socks, or better yet, didn't kill off their Striped Socks for leggings. Worst trend in the league.

I think the weirdest thing about those Reebok unis is the only one that I think could’ve stood to stick around was the Falcons, which I also think were the first team to get the Reebok treatment. Everything after SUCKED. All misses.
The Bills were the first in 2002. Falcons were the next year in 2003. And just for completionists sake, Bengals were 2004, Cardinals 2005, Vikings 2006, Chargers 2007, (nothing in 2008,) Jags 2009, (nothing in 2010,) and Bills again in 2011. I didn't count the Texans, since that seems to not have been a Reebok design, and the 2009 49ers, as that was just going back to an old look. The 2011 Bills was stated to be a Reebok creation, so that counts.

The San Diego Chargers wore their Powder Blue alternate jersey in the 2008 Playoffs, after getting permission from the NFL. I believe this is the only other time it's happened besides the 1994 49ers and 2021 Rams. The 2018 Rams Throwback was their primary uniform of that doesn't count.
