Noticed this in the follow up tweet. The first image used, which I'm presuming was a demo made by FOX before the Super Bowl, is the only time the previous logos for the Chargers and Rams, and the only time ever the former Rеdskins logo have and will ever be seen on the 2020-2022 FOX NFL graphics package, as the Rams and Chargers released new logos that offseason, and the Rеdskins rebranded to the Football Team too.

  2. I'm pretty sure NFL rules state that alternates can only use Team Colors, whether that's their Current Colors or Throwback Colors. At least, that's what the rule was with Color Rush. So unless the Texans add Columbia Blue to their logo or regular uniforms, no Columbia Blue alternate,

Love it, love it, LOVE IT! Glad they're staying. Now if only they were on the Jersey sleeves.

So here's the million-dollar question, for the teams that don't have more than one alt (and I honestly don't keep up with who has what, so I don't know): say some team, in this case hypothetically the Mariners—and let's pretend they only have the navy blue alt, now away—goes to play, say, the Twins, who choose to play in their navy blue alts. What they would the Mariners (or whatever team) do if they don't have another alt? Play in their City Connect? (See what I'm getting at?)

Agreed. But let's not pretend like this has stopped teams before.

The example I always go back to is Angels @ Twins, April 15 2016. Both teams wore their alternate Red Jerseys, AND it was Jackie Robinson day so everyone was wearing #42. Also, I was at that game on that Friday Night, and trust me, it was hard to follow along at times.

  4. For the folks interested in how it would look on a cap, the Twins wore something similar too that for their Spring Training caps in the mid-2010s.

And for the 2014 All-Star game, which was hosted by the Twins at Target Field, the caps were based on the Twins 1970s batting helmets. And the Twins one looked good. spacer.png

  5. Good on Nike for once. They're now limiting MLB teams to only four Jerseys, Home, Road, and two alternates. (Besides City Connect.) Things were starting to get out of hand, with teams having so many alternates. For instance, my Twins, before their rebrand this year, had their Home and Road jerseys, two Home Alternates, a Road Alternate, and a Throwback. AKA we had 6 different Jerseys in the rotation. It's rare when I say "Good Job Nike," but Good Job Nike!

    Quote from Mothership article.

"'Nike is now doing all the jerseys — and one thing I’ll point out about Nike is that they have come to all the clubs and said, "We really want to sort of streamline uniforms." So there’s a model out there that they want to stick to called "four plus one."' said DeWitt III, as transcribed by the St Louis Post Dispatch. "You have four jerseys that you can wear — home, road and two alternates — plus your City Connect when you unveil that."'

I hope this is not true but I just saw that gridiron uniform database has the Vikings in all white uniforms at home against the Giants this Saturday.

Unfortunately. Vikings have always been Purple at home every single game ever, besides 1964, when they wore White on Purple for all their home games that year.

I wouldn't be as unhappy as I am about this if they had Purple socks. IMO, unless the Vikings decide to bring back the 1969-2005 Road Uniforms with the shoulder stripes as an alternate, they should never wear White at Home.

Vikings confirm White on White for Christmas Eve.

First time they're wearing White at Home since 1964. They wore WAH the whole 1964 season. 1961-1963/1965-2022, they've never worn anything other than Purple at Home.

NFL players : Have their jerseys tailored to be form-fitting so that there's nothing loose for the other team to grab on to, meaning uniform designs have to change to account for the lack of space

That look topped out at 7 teams in 1983, one out of every four in the NFL, with two more having white facemasks with white helmets (Colts/Patriots).

*whispers* the Vikings should look into this...

Agreed. Underrated look for the Vikings. They had it from 1980-1984, between the grey and purple facemask. It wasn't their best facemask look, but it's still a good one. If/when the Throwbacks return, I wouldn't mind if they use either of the three facemask colors, Grey, White, or Purple.

They better not be wearing white at home against the Giants. The Giants already said they'd be in white for this game, so hopefully that holds up.

That would be interesting. The Vikings have NEVER worn white at home outside of the 1964 season, where they went WAH for every game that year. Otherwise, every Vikings game in MN has had the team wearing Purple jerseys.

Unless they got a secret 1969-2005 White throwback hidden in the closet, I don't wanna see the Vikings ever wearing WAH.

Yankees are the only team I have any hope in not putting ads on the uniforms

I wouldn't hold my breath out for that, as supposedly, the Yankees were the team that was pushing for the Nike swoosh to be on the front of MLB jerseys instead of on the sleeve like Majestic/Russel/Rawlings/etc...
