Does Seattle XFL need to have green?
-
-
I would not be surprised if some of the XFL teams were named after a bird, a cat or a horse. I am actually surprised that there have never been a pro team with names such as Cheetahs or Leopards.

Sad state of affairs for the Orlando Predators:

Chatted with friends of mine on staff for the Seattle, New York, and Tampa teams, none of them know what the names or logos for their teams are. Apparently they are a guarded "secret".
I wonder what the delay is. I mean, if you release the logos and names, then you can release merchandise for those teams and you know people will start buying things. I for one would buy each team's mini helmet.
Maybe they are trying to acquire the trademarks and logos of various USFL teams?

Vince Russo, is that you?
It would not be him because he did not say "bro" at all.

Everytime the XFL has posted something that has nothing to do with team names, there are one or two people responding "Team Names!" not caring about anything else.

But given how much emphasis was on the XFL only employing "clean" football players and having "simple" rules, it seems this is exactly what the team names should reflect. Something like "Outlaws" and other names that are "fresh and kewl" would seem to be against the whole purpose of this league.
Or it could be Vince was just riding a trend and doesn't actually intend to follow through on any of his promises.
That has seemed to change. One of the tryouts had former TCU WR Ka'vonte Turpin, who was arrested for assault of a family member. He was at the St. Louis tryout this weekend. The Dallas tryout had Trayvon Boykin.

So any updates on the Angels pursuit of a new stadium?

Why is the Bay Area market different from the other markets? What about something like Dallas-Fort Worth? Could MLB add a National League team to that area?
The Texas Rangers have the DFW market locked down.

And it looks like the Orlando Predators are done:

Curious to see if the XFL teams will have team names that end in S for all of the teams. It doesn't seem like that will be the case.

Out of all of the secondary leagues, the USFL has some good uniforms.

I don't see why they'd have to sell the Rowdies if they move?
Because I don't think St. Petersburg wants to deal with Sternberg again if the Rays move out of the Tampa area.
-
Don't the Rays also own the USL's Tampa Bay Rowdies? Wouldn't they have to sell the team if the Rays move permanently to Montreal?

These are some extremely vanilla options.
It doesn't help that NHL Seattle took the good names.

A two city solution might work if the two cities are next to each other, but this solution involves another country.

So If I'm understanding this right; The Rays, a team that can't even get a new stadium built in 1 city, are demanding that 2 cities build them a new stadiums?
That is correct.

I imagine this is his voice:

The three Tampa major league teams:
The Bucs: We hope that Bruce Arians can revive Jameis Winston
Lightning: We hope we can make it farther in the Stanley Cup Playoffs next season
Rays: We will split the season between Tampa and Montreal, so we better start learning Quebec French.

I saw Sternberg's nose grow many times in that press conference.

Um, did you notice that I said "could" in there, speedy? That doesn't mean that they will. All I'm saying that the potential for this has a chance... especially if New Mexico State wants to keep its football team at the FBS level because it's got to be a massive strain on them financially to remain as an Independent program (to which I'm sure dfwabel has the numbers to maybe either back it up or prove me wrong).
As for the other schools I mentioned...
-Utah Valley and Dixie State are pretty much in Big Sky territory, so that would be a perfect fit for these two. Hell, it would give Dixie State a football home as well. I also mentioned Seattle since they would be a decent rival for Eastern Washington... until I remembered that they were in the WCC a long time ago and would be a better fit there then the Big Sky.
-Let's be honest about Chicago State: They're god awful. They're the only team in this conference without a single conference title to their name... do you know how bad you have to be when your school can't even win an individual championship? To me, they ought to close up shop.
-UTRGV has been flirting with the Southland for years and why not? It's a Texas school and they would be in a conference with mostly Texas schools.
-Cal Baptist is the wild card here. They're in prime Big West territory... but the WCC could see potential in them as well.
Does the Southland need another non-football school though? I would think that they would want a 12th football school, but who knows since I don't think they do conference championship games in FCS football.
