They finally settled on mostly red/green with minimal (whatever that is; tan/wheat/gold) and I don't want a full-time third jersey to go backwards.

What makes you say that? One of my enduring criticisms of the current home jerseys is that the color balance is that red is relegated to a distant tertiary trim color instead of being a secondary color.  The Wild color hierarchy should be GREEN-RED-wheat, not GREEN-WHEAT-red.

  2. Add the blue stripe and they're there.

Apparently this is a relatively unpopular opinion, but the Caps' Screaming Eagle logo (and associated Capitol logo) are both terrible and have the bad kind of 90s stank on them.  Federal navy and gold? Yes I'm here for that. Everything else about that identity leave it in the past, locked in a drawer with the smelly underwear.

  3. There was relatively little rioting in Robbinsdale and Brookyln Center, certainly not to the extent of Lake Street. As you said those suburbs have always been lower SES, but I don't think you can blame their current conditions on what happened last May, and I disagree with characterizing those areas as still "burned down." I don't think over-exaggerating is the answer to under-selling.

Outstate means someone from Greater Minnesota, ie not the Twin Cities or metro area.

In Minneapolis, there are still sections of neighborhoods that have most of their businesses either burned down or closed because of the looting. It’s more than a couple of blocks

Which neighborhoods/areas? I was on Lake Street and West Broadway doing clean-up last summer and I've been back recently and both areas have bounced back well. Are there still some burnt buildings or lots? Yes. But they are certainly not "burned down" and it is certainly not "more than a couple of blocks." Do you live outstate?

This might have been a decent option for the Winter Classic. One thing I'll never understand about the previous Stars brand is why they always kept the A at the top of the star even when it wasn't part of the wordmark. How hard was it to extend the outline to connect it to the rest of the star?

It made sense when they were the North Stars. Looks sloppy as just the Stars.
