Tigers City Connect is debuting May 10, with merch available May 6.

Most I've seen are believing it will be navy/orange and feature the '90s Tiger face logo.

Are those supposed to be tire tracks on the right?

I said this earlier, but that Tigers CC graphic had tire tracks on the right hand side. There's going to be some kind of Detroit Motor City element to this thing.

I'm going to pat myself on the back here 🤣

So a new number font and a brighter green?

I see where you're coming from in regards to the green and black not contrasting enough, but I don't really feel that makes the uniform "dated". Its a pretty classic, simple design. If they were to update the number font I would like to see something in the same vein, maybe with the drop shadow removed.

Overall though I would put other teams ahead of them in the most dated categories.

I have long wondered if an Eagles set could work based around Kelly green as the dominant color with midnight green and silver as accent colors. Get rid of black all together.

Hockey is increasingly more popular where I live. There was an outdoor game like ten minutes from my house a few years ago. It’s a lot to dredge up, but I don’t think there’s a single decision pro hockey has made in the past decade that I’ve really agreed with. And that extends to their branding, and even location choices.

I just don’t think this league is really for me anymore. Like, even this part of it I find cringey and bad now.

    To each their own...

Weirdly enough, I view the NHL the complete opposite way.

     - Aesthetically I feel like they are tops among the 4 major sports. NBA and NFL are lost and MLB has literally the worst uniform rollout of all time going on.

     - New franchise locations have been a massive success. Hell, I can't believe the NHL was the first league to put a team in Vegas. For once, they were a trendsetter.

     - Playoff hockey is still just an unreal time of the year, especially if you have a dog in the fight.

     - I know this Coyotes thing was a fiasco, BUT at least they didn't just abandon a city like the NFL and MLB have done in recent times. They literally tried everything they could to make the franchise stick in their hometown, and I respect that.

      - Bringing the topic back to uniforms, I think the Reverse Retro series were much better than either the CC in MLB or color rush in NFL, or any of the mindless NBA jersey editions year after year.

All that being said, the nice thing is that if it isn't for you, it's all good. It's just entertainment.

Side note: One day when we actually validate bigfoot's existence, the Utah Yeti's name will no longer be cheesy or minor league. It will be just like any other animal named team like Coyotes, Jaguars, Eagles, etc 😎

Oh great. These are all terrible. And you know that the very worst one of them all, Yetis, is ABSOLUTELY going to win in a landslide.

This league is a perpetually unserious joke.

I really don't understand this take. You don't like the  Yeti's so the entire league is a joke?  I'm going to trust the process here, since the last two new identities in the league (VGK and the Kraken) were a complete success both from a branding standpoint as well as a uniform.

I'm not sure why it would be so absurd for a team to choose a name that is extremely popular in their new city. Why would they not choose it honestly if it is that popular?  Why give people that will buy tickets, merch, etc the middle finger before the team even touches the ice? Especially a franchise that has been playing in front of 5,000 people the last couple of years.

All I'm saying is that if I was the new owner of that team, I would feed the frenzy as much as possible.

Are skateboarding, hip hop, punk, and fashion considered Tampa things? 🤣

What do the flames on the wordmark have to do with anything? I dont get it

I was wondering the same thing. Take those away and I kind of dig it. Right now it looks like a Harley Davidson logo and not in a good way.

Also, a black uniform isn't going to be fun in the middle of summer in Tampa.

The hat logo is awesome though.

Aesthetically, I really do not like the guardian caps; but you really can't argue with their functionality and i figured the NFL would make a decision like this sooner rather than later. I mean hell, the main selling point of the Vicis helmet is that the shell is able to absorb hits like a foam pad; which is the point of the caps.

Possibly stupid question here... but how much heavier are they? They seem like they would serve a purpose with hits but I cant imagine trying to run and juke with with massive thing on my head.

  8. The NFL is really committing to the Stormtrooper look with all of these white helmets and the approval of the guardian cap.

Complaining about sock stripes seems pretty trivial at this point.  🤣

I even love the gradient and segmentation in the numbers! My only issue with the Rams set is the bone and a little too bright yellow. But honestly it only bothers me in a few photos, so most of the time, the yellow works. It’s not quite the travesty that people make it out to be.

Not to sound like a broken record, but to me, the reason it is a travesty is because I truly believe that the old ram helmet and horns was iconic. Maybe I'm wrong on that... IDK.

I wasn't into uniform aesthetics back in 2000, but what were reactions like when the Rams went from the blue/yellow to navy/gold? At the time, I was 14 and thought the new golds were awesome (and I still think that first few years looked great with the gold pants until they started doing all navy BS). But now I wonder if my current self would have been up in arms that they moved away from their traditional look.

How exactly is it outdated? I mean, it's not like it's bell bottoms in the 21st century. A classic three piece suit is always classic.  What's 'outdated' are chasing fashion trends on NFL uniforms, only to revert to something more timeless. This look is essentially what the team has worn since 1961. It works and is immediately recognizable as the Packers. Sorry (not sorry) that it isn't on the latest template designed to be 0.022% lighter/faster/drier, but it's the right color green and it isn't unintentionally different shades of green on the jersey due to the latest technologies that can['t replicate a color properly.

Just for the record, i was replying to someone who said they are outdated. I do not feel that way. I like the template that they are on. When I used the word outdated, I was referring to their post in which they felt that they were. The Packer's jerseys (specifically their white) is probably my favorite in football. I wouldn't change a thing.

  11. Speaking on the Rams again, the biggest travesty is still changing the horn on the helmet. They have changed color schemes and uniforms over the years so it's not unprecedented for them to come out with something new. But for F's sake, you had quite possibly the most classic helmet in the entire world and you changed it! It was so simple, so effective, so identifiable. Blue/yellow, blue/white, blue/gold who cares. Just keep your damn horn.

And the worst part is, changing the horn led to changing the horn on the shoulders, changing secondary logos, adding lines inside the numbers. It just led to more gimmicks. Mix all of that up with highlighter yellow and bone... well thats another topic 🤣

The Packers materials look extremely outdated. Updating to the Nike templates to match the rest of the NFL would be a welcome change. I'd also thicken up the sleeve stripes to match the helmet/pants better and ditch the white pants.

I sort of disagree with this. There is something I love about the Packers jersey being slightly outdated. Plus I love the collar of their jerseys.

Too bad they couldn't just rip off the Av's old shoulder patch and play around with that idea

I also like that common black silhouette of a bigfoot that you see on t shirts and stickers. There could be a cool crest formulated with that

  14. Best looking division in football has got to be the NFC North. I would say the AFC West would tie them if Denver would have just given the people what they wanted a couple of days ago.

Bring back the old horn on the helmet and shoulders, lose the shiny material on the numbers/shoulder horn, and make the pants stripe blue-white-blue, and then yeah, I think you would be right.

I personally don't care for the shade of yellow either, but i could live with that if the above was changed.

I agree that it's more cohesive, but I don't like the look of pants and socks being the same color to begin with. I also think this isn't a fashion trend, so much as hiding uniform violations for sock length. Whatever you think of the NFL's dress code, it still exists.

Yes, just for the record, my personal preference is pants stripes and contrasting socks in most scenarios. It just seems like this isn't going away anytime soon.

When I look at that Texans mono-red uniform, that pants stripe bothers the hell out of me. Again, ideal scenario is navy socks and that fixes everything. But, it's hard for me to bash the lions new pants for not having a stripe, when i know deep down they are going to mono them anyway. I would almost rather have plain pants in that scenario. Again JMO. The stripe is almost jarring to me when the pants are paired with the same color sock.

  17. 1 hour ago, Froob said:

Really is a bummer lions removed the stripes from the blue pants. If they had kept stripes on em and removed the white pants (or added stripes) they are getting A+ (even if they don’t get rid of plain white socks).

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but with teams doing the mono-color pants/socks look, blank pants bother me less. Say the lions wore blue pants and blue socks on gameday... I actually think it looks worse when there are pants stripes versus blank pants. The leotard look bothers me so much more when i see a pants stripe just end but the pants color continues, if that makes sense.

Now all I want to see is a white bull-horn helmet with a blue horn on the right and a red horn on the left.

That is one creative idea right there... I want to see that now too

The only real criticism people seemed to have with the Texans' soon-to-be previous uniforms was that they were "boring" and "generic". So the Texans' response is to make their new home uniform even more boring and generic... but with worse numbers. Fantastic.

    Completely agree.

I feel like the one thing that people were sort of excited about was the use of the old Oiler blue. And even that seems like its barely used and paired with a horrendous helmet.

  20. Literally the only part of this set that I like is the jersey. The helmets are a downgrade. That stripe is so forced and I hate the 5280 on the front. The pants might be fine if they had contrasting socks, but in these photos I'm not a fan of the look.

  21. Might be an unpopular opinion,  but I like the silver, white, purple combo of that Vikings jersey. The icicle numbers are not my favorite element, though. If this was just a straight recolor from their home/away set, I think I would actually dig it as an alternate.

I'm also guessing that their alternate helmet will be white? Part of me wants to already hate it because of the "icy" twitter stuff, but I am finding that I kind of like the idea of this specifically because it is for Minnesota and it is actually a cold weather state

  22. Dallas is strange. I feel like they still haven't figured out the right look since moving from Minnesota. The closest is probably the star hemmed jersey from the Modano era.

This is revisionists history.... but with the Dallas Cowboys (using  a star logo) and now the Houston Texans (star in the the bull's eye), and the Texas flag, wouldn't it have made sense for them to lean more into a Lonestar type look than hanging onto shreds of the Minnesota era? I mean, it couldn't have been a better fit.

I also feel like green has just never made sense for a Texas team. And recently they have brightened it, and now with the neon jersey it just feels super forced. In general, I like their color scheme, but it just doesn't feel like a Dallas team.
