Confirmed: The Lions were doing a little trolling.
I wasn't on the side of people complaining about uniform reveal posts, but the Lions getting into petty squabbling matches with random Twitter accounts this week was entirely unnecessary. You can be as funny as you want with the actual reveal post, but all the BS that came before it was going too far.

You would get the 49ers in their “icy” 1994-1950s fauxback. Be careful what you wish for.
The 49ers actually petitioned the league to allow them to wear all-white in Super Bowl LIV, but the NFL essentially told them to
off.
They approved the Rams making the same request with their "modern throwbacks" two years later in Super Bowl LVI.
For aesthetic reasons, this worked out wonderfully, but I do have to wonder if that was it, or if there was any other thought process for the NFL denying the 49ers' request but approving the Rams' request (In addition, the 49ers had only used two alternate slots in 2019, while the Rams had already worn those white uniforms three times in 2021).

I think it looked great with a Black facemask.
Disagree on this one. The whole point of why the legacy uniforms beat out the current uniforms is that black is not shoehorned into the color scheme. The white facemask fits way better with the white wordmark.

I think some people forget or don't know the Orca was only the logo because it was the name of the then ownership group.
(I am correct in saying that, right?)
Exactly why I'm never gonna be completely sold on that logo.

Gradients are fun as special alternate jerseys. They should never be anywhere near a team's primary look.

What a shame, in my opinion. I always thought the Jets’ current look was a good modern set – restrained and simple with just enough flair to make them unique.
All that y he “legacy” jerseys have going for them is just that – nostalgia. Without that they’re boring, nondescript, sporting goods uniforms.
Disagree. To me, the legacy uniforms essentially solve all the issues I have with the current Jets uniforms.
- First and foremost, they eliminate black. Gets rid of the loophole that allows them to wear black alternates and mix and match to create that white-over-black atrocity.
- The helmet wordmark is superior in every way
- No silly "NEW YORK" wordmark above the numbers
- When in doubt, go with regular block numbers. There are extremely few instances I prefer a custom number font to athletic block. The Jets are not one of those instances.
- Better striping. No random stripe curving into the middle of the jersey.
Really, the only change I'd make to the Jets' legacy set is to add a pair of green pants and striped white socks to wear on the road. But even then, it's not really necessary.
With all of the throwbacks in football this season, these were my favorites precisely because they were so clearly a better version of the current set.
I mean come on.

I was a flying skate fan for the longest time, mostly because I associated it with 1994 as a Rangers fan, but more recently in the last year or so I've come around more on the current uniforms. I've come to realize that the skate jerseys were a mediocre logo paired with a mediocre color scheme, one that isn't all that unique (Calgary, one of Vancouver's biggest rivals, basically has that same color scheme, even though I'd like them to completely drop black).
Regarding the current jerseys, they're just about the best the Canucks have ever had, with a few changes I'd make:
- Not sold on the orca. It's perfectly fine, but given its history, it still feels like something that was forced on the franchise by ownership. Ideally, I'd put the stick-in-rink on the jersey, but it's not a big deal.
- Get rid of Agency font. It just doesn't look right on a jersey design that's about as traditional as it gets. I actually thought that the pants stripes somewhat balanced it out, but especially if you're just going to wear solid blue pants, drop that font and just wear regular block font
- Bring back the pants stripes
(Yes, I know I'm essentially asking for these back. These are my favorite Canucks uniforms of all time.)
But above all else, do not change the color scheme. It's far superior to any other in franchise history.

I thought there was a rule that in the Super Bowl, teams have to wear their primary (traditional) uniforms? Or is that just something I thought was a thing? I can’t remember the last time a Super Bowl team didn’t.
I don't know that there's necessarily a rule that you have to wear more traditional combos, but the NFL does seem to be more strict about ensuring a good uniform matchup. By the rules, the 2021 Rams should not have been allowed to wear their (at the time) white alternates in the Super Bowl, but the NFL made sure that "bone" wouldn't be anywhere near that game.

I LOVE when the 49ers do red endzones (my one nitpick is that I wish they still had the two-bar helmet instead of the NFL logo, but overall it's beautiful)-

They beat them in purple over white this season, which is a bit more recent than 2011. I doubt that has to do with it.

Exactly why the playoff jersey rule now is so stupid. The Canucks may wear a jersey with completely different colors and logos than their primary brand during the most important games. Nothing could possibly be more brand diluting than that.
Either A) let teams mix and match jerseys in the playoffs (like the MLB and NBA) or - ideally - b) make teams wear their primary uniforms for all playoff games (like the NFL).
There is literally no reason to force teams to dilute their brands by wearing alternates or throwbacks for every playoff game. Let them wear them for just a couple games or ban them for the playoffs entirely.
Think I've made this point before, but those decisions are more the fault of the franchise than the league as a whole. I've always thought the alternates in the playoffs rule was a fun way to make a particular playoff run memorable (the Lady Liberty jerseys gave Gretzky's one playoff run with the Rangers a fun flair) or tease a future rebrand (2006 Ducks, 2007 Canucks, 2014 Ducks, 2016 Penguins). If the Canucks want to wear the black skate alternate (I agree it shouldn't be worn in the playoffs), blame them, not the league rule.
Out of the two options you gave, I'd rather go with primaries only in the playoffs. Mixing and matching should never take place on a playoff run.

After the Sharks teased black shells and gloves that match the striping of their primary teal equipment their new jerseys became a second thought. A new third is cool but the idea of them being able to pair their black equipment with their home jerseys is the biggest news that comes from all of this.
That's the conclusion you went with when you saw that? Huh?? I'd say about 90% of the time a team teases new equipment colors, they're meant to be worn with an alternate jersey.

I'm as shocked as anyone else over the Ravens going purple/black. If they're really in the business of mixing it up as they like and have done so since the loss to Cleveland, they'll wear white and purple pants somehow in each of the next two weeks if they're lucky enough to do so. And since going WAH in the AFC title game sounds ludicrous, I'd bet the possibly of going white/purple if they somehow reach the Super Bowl is legitimately on the table.
And if we're riding the superstition train, the only other justification is that they lost their last two home playoff games in purple/white. But I digress...
White over purple against the 49ers, Packers, or Bucs would be fantastic.

Worst possible Super Bowl uniform matchup would be Baltimore in purple over black yoga pants vs Detroit in all white
Texans/Lions would be pretty bad as well since the Texans have forgotten that navy socks can be worn with white pants. We'd get both teams in white leggings.

Ravens for some reason going with black pants instead of white this week
Already wanted the Ravens to go one and done. Now I've got another reason to root against them.
The only thing I can think of that would cause this is that they wore black leggings all the way to the Super Bowl in 2012
Edit: Figured out why they're doing this: They beat the Texans in this exact uniform matchup *in the playoffs* in 2011

Since Reddit is definitely trustworthy, a now-deleted post implied the Seahawks are getting new uniforms this offseason
https://news.sportslogos.net/2024/01/16/could-seattle-seahawks-get-new-uniforms-in-2024/football/
Honestly I'd be completely shocked by a new uniform design in 2024 that doesn't have monochrome as the intended primary combos.
This is also the perfect time for the Seahawks to update their uniforms, considering they're entering a new era after Pete Carroll has been fired by promotion. The final man standing from the Legion of Boom era is gone.
