Unless they're white, there's not going to be a surprise. He may just be talking about the fact the previous version was a fully mesh uniform, whereas this one is probably going to be on the new Nike template.

The surprise is they're going to be mono-orange with red to white gradient numbers and TAMPA in 6" high letters on the chest.

It always feels like MLS/soccer gets a free pass on this discussion too. Not sure if it is because everyone is so used to them. But the ad is literally the largest thing on the jersey.

Soccer gets a pass from me because they don't stop the game every 5 minutes for commercial breaks like all the other sports do.  If they jammed every stoppage in play with ads like the NHL or NFL do the huge kit sponsors and flashing ad boards would bother me just as much if not more.  The kit sponsorships were a trade-off for the lack of in-game commercial breaks.  The other sports didn't use jersey ads in place of in-game commercials, they piled them on top of the already existing ads.

The Johnny Canuck logo sucks. He looks like he's frolicking through a patch of flowers

    He's a lumberjack and he's okay!

He sleeps all night and he works all day

He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps
He likes to press wild flowers
    He puts on women's clothing
    And hangs around in bars...?

To your point. If we're going to play "that game" there's a million examples of logos/uniforms/identities, ect for sports teams drawing on the history of that sport in that city. Why is it an issue for Ottawa?

To take that even further, there aren't many (any?) defunct teams with the legacy of success of the Silver Seven/original Senators to draw on.  If anyone should be drawing on their history for a current identity it's the Sens.

  5. It's always bothered me when people refer to "Stanley Cups" as a multiple thing.  Like, "Wayne Gretzky won four Stanley Cups in his career".  No, he didn't.  He won The Stanley Cup four times.  Wayne Gretzky won four championships, but he only won one Cup.  The Cup isn't like the Lombardi Trophy where they crap out a new one every year for every team that wins the Super Bowl.  There's only one Stanley Cup, and each time Wayne won it he one the same one he'd won the time before.  The same one that Mario Lemieux, and Bobby Orr, and Jean Béliveau won each time they won The Cup.  The same one that whoever wins it this year will win.  That legacy makes The Stanley Cup special in a way that the other championship trophies in the other big North American leagues will never be.

(And I get that there have been a couple different versions of The Cup.  I know the one in use now isn't the same one that's in the Vault at the Hockey Hall of Fame, but they all still represent the same legacy going back to the pre-NHL Challenge Cup days. )

The helmet part seems to be the truest part. A few days ago, I suggested an “eggshell-like” design with the specks while @BBTV suggested a slightly different design. @TruColor then acknowledged one of us was right. Seems like my guess held up.

If you look at the helmet under a microscope you'll notice the specks are actually tiny buckeye leaves.

Yeah, Rondale Moore is a pretty small guy. Like, even if he weren’t an athlete and I knew him in person, I’d say he’s slightly below-average in height, with a slender frame. For an NFL guy he’s tiny.

Is there even going to be enough room for the ARIZONA across his chest?  Or is his jersey just gonna say ZONA on the front?

The NFL is running out of “cool” things to allow. I thought single digit numbers was stupid. Pretty soon we’ll have dudes running around with fractions and decimals on their backs.

Next thing will be to allow players on offense and defense to wear the same number like they do in college.
