The NFL would tell the NCAA to sit and spin because they have no right to suspend the hottest coaching hire in another league.

It's been done before, so there's precedent. And Harbaugh is as hot a hire as weather on Neptune. He brings a tainted championship trophy and that's about it.

So...where is/what happens/what happened to Dorian Thompson-Robinson in all of this? I know he was a rookie this season, but from what I remember of what little I saw of him he looked pretty decent.

Good for Mo-Mo! Glad he's getting a second chance at this. Coincidentally, he'll be going back up against his former team twice per season and at any rate within his old-soon-to-become-new again division. I'm sure he's matured a lot since his last HC stint.

DTR is not going anywhere, but I think realistically he'll need more seasoning. PJ Walker probably won't be back.

Looks like they all have a black border and team logos at midcourt. Team colors would be an improvement easily.

It makes sense to have it from a league branding standpoint, especially if they have a different court for the playoffs and championship.

I think the Browns re-sign Flacco just in case something happens to the $250 million man again.  Is Cousins a top 10 QB?  He is not, but unless there's a significant upgrade out there, they are going to bring him back.

I hope that Cleveland does this, but I also think they can't afford to pay him for a whole season unless there's a massive restructure deal on Watson's salary as well. It's also likely that they try to bring back Jacoby Brissett if they can't get that done.

Hail to the Panthers, I suppose. Fitting considering Tepper has succeeded Dan Snyder as the worst owner in the NFL.

Even Snyder didn't throw a fit at the fans, but both of those guys have proven that money doesn't buy business sense.

The Bears talked themselves out of hiring Jim Harbaugh because they're still deathly afraid of the head coach being anything but a polite gentleman. Tell me again how Kevin Warren was going to change everything because he has a law degree.

If the league decides he has to sit because the NCAA hits him with sanctions, then what is he bringing to the team other than drama? Not saying it's guaranteed to occur, but if Warren was told there's a pretty good chance that Michigan, and Harbaugh, are getting hammered there's no reason to bring him in.

Nope, NFL playoff berths are lottery tickets, get as many as you can. This isn't 46-36 NBA purgatory we're talking about. The Steelers and Packers are always better off getting in and seeing what happens than not getting in and not seeing what happens.

Getting better players in, is more important than losing the wildcard every other year.

The Vikings are not going to replace Kirk Cousins unless there is someone out there who's a significant upgrade and I don't know who that would be that isn't under contract right now and its unlikely that they would mortgage the farm to move into the top 5 as Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels will probably go Top 5.  Not sure that Bo Nix, JJ McCarthy or Michael Penix are upgrades over Cousins.

Who is out there that is a significant upgrade over Cousins?  That is why I think the Vikings re-sign him.

Other than possibly bringing in Flacco for a short term carryover, I don't see anyone that helps the Vikings out. Mayfield possibly, but I'd expect Tampa Bay to lock him in for at least 3 years. By the time they draft who will be available that can step in immediately? J.J. McCarthy should be available, but I can't see him being a day one starter on the Vikings.

Watching CFL YouTube videos and saw that San Antonio's Kay Stephenson was wearing the Starter jackets from Sacramento, with the names and logos missing for the 1995 South Final at Baltimore. As much time as they had to get those made, I'm surprised this still happened. They still had other gear with the proper colors, names and logos on them.

Harbaugh getting out before the sanctions hit. Gotta respect it.

I’d be shocked if it’s not Sherrone Moore. Apparently Michigan must post the job for 7 days due to state laws before making the hire. I could see that possibly causing problems with the portal (Michigan players get a 30 day window due to HC leaving) due to the length of uncertainty.

It always seemed weird to me that Michigan was trying to keep Harbaugh on campus when it was always likely he was going to face some more punishment from the NCAA from multiple issues. But I guess when the guy gets you an undisputed championship you have to back the truck up and pay him how much is he worth. Sherrone Moore is a good stop gap until they find someone that is a bigger profile. I just don't think Moore is going to last 2 years there.

    Stanford does the same thing

I think a few Big XII schools do this as well. Isn't there a D2 school that has some crazy sponsors for their coaches?

Ok, now they learned that they should keep their interim coach instead of hiring a jackanape for a head coach?

I'm guessing they couldn't get Harbaugh to answer the phone and no one else was going to improve the team more than Pierce has.

When did J-League abandon the front numbers? Not a fan of em on (club) soccer jerseys but that could've been their thing to own

I think front numbers are only used for Asian Champions League games now.

2019 looks to to be the first year without front numbers though for J League teams.

Losing all that space to sponsors didn't help.

OKay, so while this name across the front for the 3rd kits is fun and I very much like it. There's a huge issue which these boards (and MLS hipsters) will riot at. Where's the main sponsor logo going? There's a 0% that Royal Caribbean just gave Miami that much money to not be on the Miami vice colored shirt at all.  Feel like this might be a butt logo situation coming.

It will be under the numbers on the back, similar to when the league started.

I'm just throwing out numbers. Breathless announcements of cities that will be involved with no indication of backing are like posting concepts in the 2024 NFL Changes thread - it's fantasy sports and no more.

he said in the video that initially the league will own the teams but eventually they will have team owners.

Exactly. When he mentions those numbers I got a good chuckle out of that. Because the only people that should be willing to lose that much money should be billionaires. And those guys will just buy an NFL team instead.

One thing about the UFL is that they will allow players to pursue NFL options and won't stand in their way when players sign with the NFL.  If this fall league blocks players from pursuing NFL opportunities, nobody will want to play in his league.

He'll flame out even worse than the original UFL did. They did try keeping the NFL off of their players by requiring what amounted to a transfer fee of around $100,000 after the first season.

Does Mahomes have a logo? That tweet makes me think UA is going to give Texas Tech Mahomes-branded uniforms like the Curry-branded uniforms they make for Davidson.

So other than shoes and possibly gloves, I'd expect them to wear the adidas logo over this, except for possible alternate uniforms.

Apparently there's going to be a league called Major League Football (not the one that made it to camp in 2022 and failed to kick off that stranded players in Mobile) that plans on playing in the fall.....directly against the NFL, but in cities that are not in the NFL:

Telling teams they can't leave? That won't last long if they can't make money where they are. Granted, I don't expect this league to play a game either. I love that he has to clarify that they aren't attached to the other MLF(B). Originally I thought he was trying to take a shot at the UFL.

  17. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/39335573/sheikh-jassims-man-united-bid-provided-no-proof-funds

According to the article, Sheik Jassim repeatedly failed to provide proof that he had the money he needed to purchase Manchester United. I guess that helps explain why the Glazers kept dragging this out then. Still doesn't mean I like them, but at least they didn't split and leave United in a situation where they could be in a pinch like Everton.

"It was announced on Christmas Eve that British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reached an agreement to buy a 25% stake for £1.3 billion ($1.65bn), more than a year after the team's owners, the Glazer family, revealed their intention to undertake a "strategic review" in November 2022. Ratcliffe's deal is set to be ratified next month.

A filing on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission detailing United's search for either a new owner or new investment has showed that Raine, the merchant bank handling the process, initially entered into 26 nondisclosure agreements with interested parties.

Following months of talks, Sheikh Jassim officially informed United of his intention to withdraw on Oct. 15, 2023, with sources close to the bid citing "frustration" that the Glazers' valuation of the club was "unrealistic."

Sheikh Jassim's bid was for 100% ownership while the SEC documents show that Ratcliffe began to pivot towards an offer to buy a minority shareholding, rather than majority ownership, in the summer of 2023.

The deal will see Ratcliffe and his INEOS team, headed by Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc, assume control of football operations once the agreement officially gets the green light".
