-kj
Came back to this again to try and shore it up a bit. I cleaned up some shapes, and decided to connect the letters that weren't previously connected. I also added some outlining that might be a bit superfluous, but the further I went along, the more it felt like it was necessary. I tried a lot of iterations, but finally settled on this version. I also got ahold of the actual bar logo, though I had to trace the text from a jpeg. I've also gotten some ideas for the other two teams, but haven't started on them yet; the working names are "Beasts" and "C-Monsters". Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! -kj
I came up with an idea for jerseys; it's a little crazy by my standards. It would be cool if the baseball looked impaled on the pitchfork. Now it looks a little stuck on I forgot to note earlier that I tried to fix that in these last revisions. -kj
Instead of getting any packing done today, I kept running with the ideas I had. Here's the idea for the C team, aka the C-Monsters ("sea monsters"). I took a few liberties with connecting the letters, but I didn't really want to alter the r or s in the font to make them into standard cursive lettering. The jersey obviously comes from the same basic idea as the Demons above, using waves instead of flames. Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! -kj
Half bump, half new content. Made a white version of the C-Monsters jersey: Also started on the B team, which I'm calling the Beasts. I went for a "beast" arm holding the martini glass, to keep the same feel as the other teams; I'm still not entirely it works, but it's honestly growing on me. FYI, the colors are mostly taken from the current looks for the teams, though the Demons currently wear maroon (but have talked about changing). The yellow is an addition for all, but I like having it there to tie them all together. I'm open to ideas, constructive criticism, etc, as these are concepts that may eventually come to life next spring. Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! -kj
Last piece to the puzzle for now: Beasts jerseys. Here's a summary graphic of all three teams. Since this is rec softball we're talking about, each team will likely only have one jersey; I chose to display the white versions here to show a unity across the sets: (click the image for a larger view) Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! Whittier S
The curve of the C-tentacle around the glass looks really awkward. I don't really see a flow, or a grasping. It just looks like little twiddly bit added on to the bottom. But beyond that, this is some brilliant branding.
-kj
I kinda see what you're saying; should it angle more down at the end, or perhaps dangle out more? -kj
I tried to fix the issue you brought up, Whittier, and did some general cleanup with a bit of restyling as well. This will be a bit of an image dump, so I'll spoiler the jerseys: Beasts C-Monsters Demons Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! Ninjorz
I think what you've done here is really awesome!Coming all together, this really is a great series! 3 different teams, one sponsor, all unique identities, all with the same theme. It's really great. There's tons of synergy here ... I think all of them together make each other better.I wish you luck in getting the owner to buy in on them and getting you guys some new uniforms! It's incredible advertising, especially if people from different teams go somewhere together after a game (that isn't The Loft, lol). Please delete my account. -kj
Bringing this back from the dead a bit. The bar owner really likes the designs, and wants to talk to the teams about moving forward with them. There's also a new D-level team sponsored by the bar, known as Over the Limit, so I worked on a design for them as well. Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop!
