Australian A-League Team Branding...

Based upon some initial detective work that I've engaged in, I'm willing to bet that Melbourne Victory, Perth Glory SC and Sydney FC will take to the Hyundai A-League pitch with the following logos intact:

There is an outside chance that Adelaide United FC will adopt a nickname, possibly altering their logo to reflect the change. If not, Adelaide's logo will remain:

The Central Coast Mariners FC will undoubtedly retain its current name, though there is a possibility that they may update their logo. The club's current logo is:

At least three Hyundai A-League clubs have openly addressed their future branding plans - Newcastle United FC, NZ Kingz Football Club and Queensland Lions SC.

The Newcastle United Football Club will apparently adopt the nickname Jets. Their logo will feature three fighter jets flying in formation, representing a "United" front. The Newcastle United jets branding pays homage to Williamtown Royal Australian Air Force Base. According to team officials, "The RAAF jets have iconic status in the region and like their new football namesake... the Newcastle United Jets... they spread their wings across the nation providing visual engagement, emotion and entertainment."

Newcastle United FC's former logo:

The Queensland Lions Soccer Club has said that it "... is aware of its responsibility to the wider Queensland soccer community and will seek to broaden its current supporter base. To this end, the club will conduct extensive market research to select a new name and logo for the team, including a newspaper competition open to the public."

The logo for one of the Queensland Lions Soccer Club's current reserve squads (conceiveably similar to what the parent club has used):

The NZ Kingz Football Club are underway with planning for the Hyundai A-League. Included in their preparation is "market research on everything from the name of the team to the pricing of the tickets".

Small note in the newspaper this week that hasn't been officially confirmed but Reebok has an exclusive deal to outfit all 8 teams in the league.

As long as the Kingz get rid of that bloody Z, well I really don't care what else they do...the Sydney logo I quite like, hadn't seen that before.

As for the Victory logo, well that looks like the work of a fanboy rather than the consortium itself. The most prominent shortcoming is the clearly incorrect Southern Cross - the fifth star is mispositioned, and the four main stars all have 8 points, which is contrary to both the traditional form (7 points each) and the alternative form used on Victoria's state flag (5, 6, 7, and 8 points).

"It's a Victory victory" ????

Such will be the rarity of the event it will probably be commentated upon as "an utter fluffing miracle" or "a disgraceful choke from the other team" rather than anything so mundane as what you suggest :P

Don't want to be the cold bucket of water guy, but those are Bordeaux's shirts, sans sponsors logos taken from colours-of-football.com

I would suggest they got Mike's approval, as they've lost the sponsors logo very cleanly, but they forgot to take off the Bordeaux club logo.

Plus, I think I saw somewhere that adidas aren't the manufacturer.

Oh, and I've got a site.

Reebok is the manufacturer, and that image is only a guide as to what the strip will look like. The actual strip will still probably look very similar to that, which is why it's being used as a demonstration.

No official uniform has officially been physically released... as in, there have been no presentation ceremonies or anything.

Them's fightin' woids!!

No, it's merely ABUSE ;)

Melbourne Victory: "At least we're not the VICTORIA VISION!"

(has anyone else noticed the truly terrible names that dominate the WNSL? The Victoria Vision? the Canberra Eclipse? the Adelaide Sensation????)

That's cool. I think some further involvement from the MLS could help out soccer in America. Perhaps, (GASP!) structure US soccer like English Soccer. MLS Premier, MLS First, MLS Second with these teams? I think it could be interesting.
